Assassin at Range: The Sniper's Lethal Power-Chapter 104 - : Drake’s Heartbreak
The arrival of the Tide Giant escalated the atmosphere along the coast to a whole new level.
The players had been feeling a bit apprehensive at first. After all, with so many sea monsters, they could easily be overwhelmed.
But the moment they saw the Dark Gold Grade BOSS, all their fear vanished.
Kill the BOSS!
Get the loot!
Rise to the top!
This was a Dark Gold Grade BOSS. Each piece of loot could be worth millions, right?
Today is the day we get rich!

"Brothers, let’s go!"
One player clenched his sword tightly and charged forward.
Though the BOSS was still in the sea and there were countless sea monsters between them and it, they couldn’t just stand by and watch. The sooner they reached the BOSS, the higher their chances of getting the loot.
The first charge by a warrior player was the start of the BOSS fight.
In an instant, players rushed toward the sea monsters, creating a dazzling display of skills flashing on the shore.
Tristan didn’t rush in but instead observed the situation.
From the skills the players were using, he noticed quite a few hidden classes, whose skill forms and damage output were significantly stronger than those of regular classes.
As he was deep in thought, a sharp sound sliced through the air, and a rocket-propelled grenade streaked across the sky, landing in the sea monster horde, exploding in a shower of debris.
A familiar voice rang in his ears.
"You’re here too?"
Tristan turned to see the girl who had launched the rocket—a player named GemmaS.
Tristan smiled. "It’s not every day you get to see a Dark Gold Grade BOSS. Of course, I had to come."
GemmaS nodded in agreement. "That makes sense."
Her expression then became more eager. "Earlier, you taught me how to stabilize rocket trajectories using the tail feathers of a demonic raven. That opened a whole new world for me. After continuous practice, I’ve developed several different types of ammunition. This time, I won’t hold back in this BOSS fight."
Tristan chuckled and said, "If you manage to take down the BOSS, that’s all on you. But just so you know, my damage has increased a lot too."
He admired GemmaS’ character—she was professional and determined.
When it came time to establish a guild, he could definitely consider bringing her on board. After all, she had been one of the strongest mechanics in his past life, with a lot of untapped potential.
Drake, after a moment of hesitation, asked uncertainly, "Are you... GemmaS?"
GemmaS raised an eyebrow. "You know me?"
Drake shook his head. "I don’t, but one of my guild members mentioned you. They said you’re strong, and they tried to invite you to join, but you turned them down."
GemmaS chuckled. "Ah, you mean that. I remember now. I’m used to being independent and didn’t want to join a guild back then."
Drake sighed in disappointment.
He hadn’t personally met GemmaS before; he only knew of her as a skilled player. But now, hearing that she knew Blackshade... well, that made things a little different.
Anyone Blackshade took an interest in had to be special.
It looked like he’d have to work harder to recruit her into his guild.
Just as he was lost in thought, the crushing blow to his heart came.
Tristan casually asked, "I’m planning to start a guild. You in?"
GemmaS immediately nodded, "No problem."
Drake’s heart sank.
Just a moment ago, she said she was too used to being independent to join a guild, but now, just because Blackshade mentioned it, she agreed.
But IFA invited her first...
...
The group was still chatting when another voice rang out.
"Blackshade, fancy meeting you here again."
Tristan immediately recognized the voice. He’d just heard it not long ago.
He turned to see a beautiful face—NightStalker, the adorable young man.
Before Tristan could say anything, Drake had already stepped forward, adjusting his hair slightly and speaking nervously, "Uh, hi. Can we get to know each other? I’m Drake, the president of IFA, my family has a bit of wealth, may I ask for your name?"
Tristan opened his mouth, unsure of what to say, and ended up silent.
This was something NightStalker needed to explain himself.
NightStalker, clearly resigned to his fate, sighed. Was he really that easy to misunderstand?
Well, thinking back, this had pretty much been his life story. So, whatever.
He composed himself and said flatly, "Drake, you’re being too polite. I’m NightStalker, just an ordinary knight player. And, by the way, I’m a guy."
Snap.
It seemed like everyone heard the sound of Drake’s heart breaking.
Tristan patted Drake on the shoulder, offering some consolation, "Don’t take it personally. I made the same mistake the first time I met him."
Drake didn’t say anything. He quietly walked over to a corner to lick his wounds.
He had finally gotten interested in someone, only to be so thoroughly rejected.
Was there any justice left in the world?
Cleric Sophie stepped forward and said, "Let’s discuss how we’ll deal with this BOSS."
One of the archers in Drake’s team took over, "How else are we going to deal with it? Just watch Blackshade handle it. By the way, where are our guys? When we fight Shadow Legion, we can’t afford to mess up."
An assassin added, "We need to locate Shadow Legion’s main force. If we can lead some monsters their way, we can break their formation."
The three of them were deep in discussion, totally ignoring Drake in the corner.
They were used to this by now.
But honestly, this time, they couldn’t really blame their boss.
That boy was just too cute. If it were them, they’d probably make the same mistake.
They could only say their boss was just unlucky.
Tristan, overhearing their conversation, asked curiously, "Is IFA not going to fight the BOSS?"
As soon as the words left his mouth, he realized how unnecessary the question was.
He was already here, so of course, the others didn’t have a chance.
Sophie, unfazed, explained, "DarkSaber brought his main force here for the BOSS. If we can kill them a few times and get some equipment drops, we can weaken Shadow Legion’s power. It’s a win-win situation."
At this stage in ExoGenesis, there was no concept of "shared death." The best way to weaken an enemy faction was to kill them and take their loot.
IFA’s strategy was spot on.
And with this BOSS fight, surrounded by sea monsters and utter chaos, DarkSaber, no matter how skilled, couldn’t easily control the battle.
With a little luck, Shadow Legion would surely suffer a heavy blow.
But what did that have to do with Tristan?
He was more than happy to see Shadow Legion get wrecked.
But not yet. At least he wanted DarkSaber to do one final thing before that.
Shaking himself out of his thoughts, Tristan stretched his limbs and said, "I’m going in. What about you guys?"
GemmaS’ eyes lit up, full of enthusiasm. "Count me in. You’re strong, but I’m not going to give up easily."
Tristan smiled, "Having that mindset is great, but don’t get too discouraged when things don’t go your way."
GemmaS wore a confident smile. How much of a setback could there be?
Could Blackshade really solo the Dark Gold Grade BOSS?
NightStalker spoke up, "I’m going to skip this one. If you’re going in, I won’t get a chance. I’ll find a corner to level up."
Sophie and the others prepared to find Shadow Legion’s position and lead some monsters toward them for a two-pronged attack.
