Liang’s eyes narrowed subtly as the Pavilion Head’s query echoed through the space.

"Hmm?" Liang regarded the Pavilion Head with astonishment etched upon his face. "Even your keen appraisal expertise failed to decipher its nature?"

The Pavilion Head gave a solemn nod, his gaze holding a glimmer of anticipation as it met Liang’s.

"In truth, it possesses no remarkable qualities," Liang began, shaking his head. "However, this ore possesses the unique ability to absorb the essence of other living beings’ blood."

A note of skepticism colored the Pavilion Head’s expression as he regarded Liang intently. "Is there truly nothing more?"

Liang shrugged. "In my previous encounters with a weapon crafted from similar material, that was the sole effect I observed."

"I understand," the Pavilion Head chuckled, his voice low and amused. "Based on that, I surmise you intend to forge a weapon utilizing this ore, is that correct?"

Liang met his gaze with a hint of pride. "Precisely. The ability to absorb blood essence aligns perfectly with a clandestine technique I am in the process of honing."

A flicker of recognition crossed the Pavilion Head’s eyes as he listened to Liang’s revelation. However, he merely responded with a subtle smile. While such secret techniques were not uncommon, many venerated experts held them in disdain, perceiving those who employed them as outcasts.

In an era long past, these practices had garnered a sinister appellation: Heretic Cultivation.

Heretic Cultivators relied on the consumption of other cultivators’ blood essence or cultivation to bolster their own. This practice had a short-lived history, as despite its expedited cultivation and ease of breakthroughs, its adherents suffered from a weak foundation compared to orthodox cultivators. With time, the allure of this technique waned, becoming virtually extinct within the Yang region and the Heaven Fortune Domain.

All things Pavilion conducted business with both the righteous and the malevolent, and it held no stake in Liang’s intended use of the ore.

"As our transaction concludes, I shall take my leave," Liang declared. He pivoted on his heel and vanished within moments.

In unison, Elders Yun and Yin materialised near the Pavilion Head.

Elder Yun furrowed his brow and addressed the Pavilion Head, "What are your thoughts, master?"

The Pavilion Head’s enigmatic smile hinted at a deeper understanding. "He’s far from ordinary. Just now, he effortlessly breached our planetary barriers and vanished into realms unknown."

A flicker of concern crossed Elder Yin’s face. "Could it be that he has discovered the coordinates of our sanctuary?"

Elder Yun nodded his head cautiously. "Indeed. We must relocate forthwith."

The Pavilion Head gestured, "Attend to this matter with the utmost urgency." With that, he vanished into the shadows.

The two elders exchanged weary glances, realizing the arduous task ahead.

"How could the original location have been compromised?" Elder Yin inquired with a troubled tone.

Elder Yun’s eyes flickered with a hint of suspicion. "You know better than to ask."

A realization dawned on Elder Yin, his voice tinged with disbelief. "A traitor? Within our own ranks?"

Elder Yun sighed deeply. "Even among our ethereal brethren, there may be those who harbor hidden agendas."

"Revenant Sia, it is an honour to behold you once more."

Revenant Sia’s lips curled into a captivating smile as she clasped her hands together in greeting. "The pleasure is entirely mine, Pavilion Head."

"And who might this enigmatic companion of yours be?" The Pavilion Head directed his gaze at Kai, a flicker of surprise evident in his eyes.

Indeed, it was a rare sight to witness Revenant Sia in the company of another being, let alone a living one. For Revenants, the extreme yin energy they possessed rendered the yang nature of the living uncomfortable, making prolonged interactions anathema.

A flicker of amusement crossed Kai’s eyes as he was addressed, but before he could respond, Revenant Sia interjected with a soft chuckle.

"A mere junior associate, nothing more."

"A junior?" The Pavilion Head repeated, surprise etched upon his countenance. However, an inexplicable sense of relief washed over him at this revelation.

"When will the auction commence?" Revenant Sia inquired, a hint of impatience lacing her voice. "We have graced your abode with our presence for two long days."

A slight twitch betrayed the Pavilion Head’s amusement. Had he known of this esteemed guest’s impending arrival, he would have accorded her the warmest of welcomes himself. After all, eighth-order experts were notoriously eccentric and capable of wreaking havoc on a whim.

Nevertheless, he summoned a cordial smile. "Our profound apologies for the delay, Revenant Sia. Rest assured, the auction shall commence in two days’ time."

"Two days?" Revenant Sia’s brow furrowed slightly, a hint of concern lacing her voice. "Have you encountered unforeseen difficulties?"

The Pavilion Head’s eyes flickered upward at this inquiry, but his response was swift and confident. "A minor logistical issue, nothing to be concerned about. Rest assured."

Revenant Sia’s expression softened as she nodded. Having had dealings with the Pavilion for an extended period, she understood that they would not hesitate to seek her assistance should significant challenges arise.

"In that case, we shall return in two days." Revenant Sia glanced at Kai before turning to depart.

"My esteemed guests," the Pavilion Head chuckled, "do not rush your leave. We are hosting a banquet tonight, and we would be honoured by your presence."

A banquet? Revenant Sia’s eyes widened in surprise. In the countless millennia she had known the Pavilion, never before had they hosted a banquet prior to an auction.

"Are you certain you are not experiencing any unforeseen circumstances?" she asked suspiciously.

The Pavilion Head laughed heartily. "This auction is an event of unprecedented significance. A banquet is but a fitting prelude."

A flicker of amusement danced in Revenant Sia’s eyes. "Very well," she said. "Lead the way."

The Pavilion Head nodded before stepping into the void, his form disappearing in an instant.

Revenant Sia exchanged a glance with Kai, a hint of intrigue in both their gazes, before following closely behind the Pavilion Head.
