Chapter 43: A Change in Venue *

It was almost insane how quickly they moved past that declaration from Arlette.

The grey-eyed Professor cleared her throat and looked away from Caius like she felt she had divulged more information than she had intended to and that only made things more awkward. And also a little endearing.

Arlette had her reasons for getting close to Caius. He was aware of that but he also knew that despite that, it was insane for her to be so ready to go to arms for him against someone whose strength she didn’t even really know.

It could maybe have been brushed off as bravado just to impress but Arlette didn’t need to impress Caius. Not in this way anyway. No, that declaration was real.

"Tea?" Arlette suddenly asked and Caius realized that while he had been looking at her face and smiling to himself, she had summoned a stool from her storage ring. On the stool was a tray that held a kettle with two teacups that she filled up.

The sound of the liquid filling each cup was all that was heard in the office and then she lifted one and handed it to Caius who collected it politely.

"Thank you. But not what I’d have opted to drink," he said.

Arlette understood what he meant and it only made her laugh.

"I thought it best to play it safe. Last time you drank my blood, you passed out for hours." She said as she took a sip of tea.

"I think I’ll be fine this time," Caius said with a smile as he raised the teacup to his lips and smelled it. It was calming.

When he took a sip, he found he liked the taste but could already tell he was missing something. There was a ’kick’ in drinks like these as they had been made with ingredients meant to help Mages along with their Magical abilities. But it had no effect on him which made it taste bland. With a start, he realized food was going to taste even worse to him now.

Arlette looked at him over the rim of her teacup, smiling against the edge at the look on his face. She watched him take more sips and look more disappointed each time.

Eventually, she rolled her eyes,

"Fine. Here," she said, and held her arm out to him. She sounded exasperated but she had an inviting smile on her face.

"The tea was fine," Caius said but was already setting the teacup aside to reach forward and grab Arlette’s arm.

She wasn’t at all far from where he was seated on her sofa so it didn’t take much for him to lean forward and touch his lips to her skin.

"As I start, I should probably let you know it’s not just blood I’m after."

"Ah," Arlette said in understanding, and then she smiled as she asked,

"Don’t you think that moment has passed?"

Caius shrugged, not denying her point,

"There are always more moments and even if there weren’t, we’ll just make one."

"Hmm, glib words. But where was this outlook on ’moments’ for two days now?" Arlette asked and cocked her head to the side,

"You’ve certainly not tried to make them."

"I was... waiting for something," Caius admitted with a sigh that caused his warm breath to blow over Arlette’s skin causing her to tingle as goosebumps appeared in anticipation she couldn’t hold back.

Even then, she managed to ask,

"Waiting for what?"

"For this," Caius said and his eyes turned red as he grew fangs and claws extended from the tip of his fingers. He gripped her arm tightly and pulled her towards himself.

For the first time since he had arrived in this world, and for the first time since he had known her, Caius was able to use his strength to move her weight from the chair and into his lap on the sofa.

He couldn’t describe the thrill that he felt at managing this. It might have seemed like a small thing but the fact that he had not been able to do this while he was a Vampire Spawn really put into perspective how weak he’d been.

"You were waiting until you got claws and your eyes were a little bit more red?" She asked and then shook her head,

"And here I was thinking you were just misguidedly hoping for a moment where everything was perfect and fell right in place. You know, like I was.

Both are stupid reasons but yours is so much worse."

Caius laughed.

"Well, I got my reason out of the way. What would we need to do to make this moment even more perfect for you?" He asked.

"A change in venue for one," Arlette said with a smile, "For some reason, my office is starting to feel cramped." frёeweɓηovel_coɱ

Caius raised a brow,

"Where would we go?"

Arlette smiled and stood up but she grabbed his arm as she did so that Caius stood up with her. Together, they walked toward a section of the wall in her office, and with a wave of her hand, she made a Portal Gate appear.

"Come," she said and walked through the portal, pulling Caius along with her.

Caius was sure they were going to a classroom but they walked out the other side of the portal into a wide lavish room. Looking to the side at doors leading to various locations locked away from sight, Caius could tell this was only a small part of a much larger space.

"We’re still at Lochxen," Arlette said when Caius said nothing for a few minutes and just stared around confused.

"I know," Caius said.

—’As they all come from various locations with many not even living in the Capital where the Academy was situated, Lochxen Professors are encouraged to live on school grounds and of course, just as the Academy sought to make living as comfortable as possible for students, the Professors were not left out. They were also afforded privileges that the Students could only dream of having.’—

’Is this one of those privileges?’ Caius asked as that passage of [To Kill A Demon Lord...] surfaced in his mind.

Not once had it been included that Professors could just open Portals to cross great distances right from their offices to their living quarters.

"What’s wrong?" Arlette asked and Caius’ eyes snapped back to her smiling face.

"Nothing," he said.

Why did it matter what privileges the Professors had that he didn’t know until now?

Why should that be the topic most on his mind when this sexy grey-eyed woman standing in front of him, just brought him to her home and was standing mere feet from the gigantic bed at the center of the room?

"Nothing at all," he said and crossed the space between them to gather her in his arms and lift her off the ground.

Arlette’s thighs went around his waist and her legs locked tight behind him as they smacked their lips together.

"Mnghh!" She moaned sharply with her arms locked around his neck, holding him in place. When his tongue trailed across her lips and sought entry, she allowed it in. Starting up a battle for dominance in her mouth.

Caius had both his hands underneath her gown, grabbing and squeezing her asscheeks as Arlette began to rock herself against him even in that position.

One of her hands was in his hair now, rubbing at his scalp in what was becoming a signature move and she was so enraptured in the moment that she didn’t realize they were moving. It only dawned on her when she began to fall and her back hit her comfortable bed.

Her legs unlocked around Caius’ waist just so she could place her legs on the bed and gain the leverage to thrust her lower half toward his body even harder in an incessant move that screamed her need.
