Armed Train in the Apocalypse-Chapter 401 - 265: Test Firing
"May 6th, the waters are calm."
"We’ve obtained the truth that can break the blockade!"
...
The sky was azure, the sea and sky meeting below were tinged with a delicate pinkish orange, underlined by a Neapolitan yellow like soft cake.
The train wound forward on the water, heading towards the most tender color.
The armed train had long left the Flood Zone and, under Shu Wei’s guidance, was heading towards the nearest Storm Zone landing point.
Hundreds of meters below the water, scales churned, maintaining an appropriate distance from the train.
On the deck of the train, the newly-promoted Ban Yunzhang raised his walkie-talkie with a solemn look, "Thunder God-8 railgun is ready, requesting first test firing."
Moments later, a voice came through the walkie-talkie.
"Command station approved, personnel on deck please evacuate."
"No, I have to see it here with my own eyes."
Ban Yunzhang stubbornly replied.
"Then you..."
The walkie-talkie emitted a static-laden hiss.
Ban Yunzhang shook this newfound device, "What?"
"...Be careful not to get shocked."
Listening to this half-finished sentence, Ban Yunzhang was slightly dazed. His subordinates behind him also halted their steps towards the cabin, seeing him standing there.
The final section of the electromagnetic railgun installed on carriage number 5 emitted a bluish cold glow.
A low-frequency humming swept across the deck.
Everyone was startled, "Brother Ban, the railgun is starting to charge, it’s about to fire."
Ban Yunzhang waved his hand, "You go on in."
He locked his gaze firmly on the electromagnetic railgun, watching as the inner coils lit up section by section, the capacitor group emitting a charging hum akin to thunder about to awaken.
Ban Yunzhang felt an electrifying numbness throughout his body.
His eyes widened in astonishment.
’What’s happening?’
’Is there a short circuit?’
In the distance, a crocodile twisted out of the water, using its tail to support its body.
Its beastly eyes warily fixed on the direction of the armed train.
A terrifying sense of crisis swept over, prompting it to dive underwater without hesitation, but it was too late. A light cluster larger than the rising sun suddenly appeared before its eyes.
"Boom——" 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
The water surface cracked, and a giant crimson wave rose tens of meters high. The crocodile was flung back, as if punched violently, slicing through the air and water.
Its body was directly cut in half by the blow.
Two speedboats detached from the train, racing towards the crocodile’s position.
Each boat carried a person on the bow, one tall and handsome, with wild long hair, the other strong and purely wild.
Even though the speedboats were about to be tossed into the air by the waves, the two men’s bodies remained unwavering.
"This power is truly thrilling, no wonder Vice President Deng thinks about it every day!"
He Jie wiped his face wet from the spray and laughed loudly.
Su Huan, however, frowned slightly. His penetrating voice reverberated in everyone’s ears, "Something’s off, the energy level has weakened, there’s no Tier Two anymore."
"No Tier Two, what’s that mean?"
He Jie’s speedboat had already reached the point where the crocodile was hit.
Su Huan licked his lips, "This was just a Tier One small fry, the Tier Two one is hiding!"
Yu Yue’s voice suddenly appeared in their ears, "A new target has appeared below your position."
He Jie’s reaction was swift; he looked down.
A shadow beneath his feet grew larger, "Boom", a terrifying maw with tusks broke through the water, the distance between the jaws longer than the whole speedboat!
Water fled from the white maw frantically.
"Roar——"
A primal fear from ancient times froze the veteran He Jie in place. Only after a full second did he think to raise his anti-aircraft gun and pull the trigger.
But a terrifying bluish light blossomed faster than his gun muzzle.
An arc of electricity spanned the maw, extending back to the armed train.
The furious sound of gunfire and water filled He Jie’s ears.
The world turned upside down; his speedboat had capsized at some point, and he was already submerged, fearing friendly fire, He Jie stopped pulling the trigger, slung the machine gun over his shoulder, and began to float up.
But the raging water had plunged him to an unknown depth.
A large, blood-stained area blurred his vision.
His waist suddenly went numb, and before he could react, he was yanked from the water by a tremendous force.
With a "bang", he landed on the deck.
When he looked up, he saw the conductor dispersing the lightning whip coiled around his waist.
’This ability is really useful.’
Grumbling in his mind, He Jie sat up.
A thirty-meter ancient giant crocodile floated on the water, most of its upper jaw torn apart by the railgun, painfully thrashing in its death throes.
Gushing waves surged towards the speedboat.
A pair of cold beastly eyes locked onto Su Huan and the others, abandoning the battered speedboat, and charged madly at the group.
"Damn beast!"
He Jie adjusted his gun, wanting to fire at the giant beast, only to be stopped by the conductor.
"Don’t waste your ammo, you just stay put."
Su Huan squinted, watching the approaching Tier Two giant crocodile. Before it attacked He Jie, his "energy perception" had detected no energy fluctuations, indicating that this mutant beast could conceal its own energy.
Which seemed quite in line with crocodilian behavior.
The crocodile opened its half-destroyed maw again, a terrifying foul wind sweeping over.
But faster than it was the railgun’s distant support.
"Poof!"
Unfortunately, it was slightly off."
The tough crocodile skin proved no more than cheese to the railgun, cut through effortlessly, without any resistance or stagnation.
