Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy-Chapter 980: Beasts
Chapter 980: Beasts
After some time, the two soared through the sky. It wasn’t through a spell, but it was through an artifact that Sabrina brought.
It seemed to be an item made by a Runemaster.
"This is interesting..." Vale muttered as he allowed himself to be lifted by the artifact.
Apparently, there was a small magic circle that glowed beneath their feet, and according to Sabrina, it was really the standard mode of flight travel for high-ranking citizens of Hymn City.
From above, Vale noticed how orderly the city was, despite its vast size.
Now that the siege of the Demonic Creatures had ended, he saw more people using the flying platforms.
He could also see lined residences, merchant stalls, and even some spiritual beasts with gentle temperaments pulling gilded carriages.
It was a completely different sight compared to his Shadow Domain. It showed how deeply rooted civilization and Arcane Practice were here.
Soon, he noticed the Central Market Tower—a structure that was probably more than thirty floors. It was still shorter than the Arcane Towers of the city, but it was still very impressive.
Even without using his Divine Sense, he could tell that this building could withstand a dozen of his Immortal Spells.
"This place is protected by three barrier systems," Sabrina noted casually as they approached.
"Anti-scrying, spatial lockdown, and an Artifact-class Weather Stabilizer. Even if the Demon Saints wanted to assassinate someone here... they wouldn’t get far."
Vale nodded. It seemed that she was also aware of the Demon Saints’ ability to disguise themselves as humans or arcane practitioners.
It was a trick they used in the Human Realm after all.
"I see..." Vale replied.
He was now busy admiring the intricate formations carved into the building’s surfaces.
’I hope that’s something I can buy.’ He mused.
He also had various Formation Barriers installed in his Shadow Domain but not at this level.
It would surely be interesting if he managed to obtain their blueprint.
Soon, they ascended to the sky terrace, where Arcane Practitioners, Immortals, merchants, and even young prodigies dined at various platforms...
’They really know how to design and make this place comfortable.’ He mused.
There were actually pools of spirit koi, ambient lighting fixtures, and even some music being played around the halls of the building.
Vale then followed Sabrina to a small shop...
A waitress approached them, and Vale felt curious about her.
Well, she wasn’t human but rather a graceful homunculus.
Of course, the Homunculus he was seeing was completely different from the Homunculus Project of the Church of the Fortune Goddess, who had turned to become Druids instead.
The ones he was seeing seemed to be the perfect version of the Homunculus.
’Incredible...’ Vale mused as he also had a team who had studied the Homunculus Project of the church. However, it was too incomplete and had a lot of issues. It wasn’t something they could really develop.
Still, because of Denise’s success in the creation of the Metal Golems or Androids, he had already forgotten about this project.
After all, they were more obedient and useful in combat. Even if they die or get destroyed by enemies, they would only lose some money.
Anyway, Sabrina arranged a seat for the two of them with the help of this waitress.
The homunculus bowed and led them to a private platform suspended near the edge of the tower.
It had a breathtaking view of the districts, the mansions of the various organizations, and Arcane Towers.
Seeing that Vale was enjoying the view, Sabrina leaned forward and spoke.
"So... what does a mysterious Immortal like you eat, Vale? Shadow Essence-braised phoenix? Starflower rice? Or are you more of a ’dine on ambient mana and drink dew from the void’ type?"
That was certainly not a menu he could get in his realm...
Vale chuckled, his first genuine one in days.
"I’ll try something new. Surprise me."
Since he wasn’t really sure what to get here, it was better to get a suggestion instead.
Sabrina nodded and glanced at the homunculus waitress.
"One Chef’s Masterpiece and a Celestial Orchid Tea."
Soon, the dishes that Vale had only seen for the first time were served.
Then, as Vale was expecting that Sabrina would bring up her recruitment once again, he was surprised that she didn’t discuss the matter again.
Instead, they just talk about the Demonic Creatures, the city’s plan to protect its peace, the interesting things happening in the city, and other random topics.
Vale didn’t expect that it would be this pleasant at all.
It had been quite some time since he could relax like this. After all, he had always been busy and worrying about those who wanted to disrupt his life in the Human Realm.
After finishing their meal, Sabrina shifted to another topic...
"The dining terrace is just part of the tower. The Central Market Tower spans had a lot of floors, and every level is tailored for a different kind of buyer."
Vale’s interest was piqued. "Now... I’m curious."
"You’ll see... I don’t have much time but I’ll show you around for a bit." She said as she left the payment on the table and gestured for Vale to follow her.
They then used an elevator and descended toward the lower floors...
Once the platform landed on the 5th floor, Sabrina gave him a light nudge. "This level houses Spiritual Beast Markets. You might want to check it out."
Vale’s eyes lit up after hearing this.
"I would love to..."
Just like that, Vale wandered onto the whole floor...
He couldn’t help but feel excited seeing beasts of every shape, size, and aura...
After all, only Beast Arts Practitioners or Summoning Arts Practitioners could summon beasts or Spirit Beasts.
Vale was also capable of doing it with his Grimoire and its sealed Beasts, but those creatures weren’t too useful in everyday life as they consumed energy while they were out of the Grimoire.
On the other hand, these Spirit Beasts didn’t require constant upkeep of energy!
