Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy-Chapter 974: Immortal Spells
Chapter 974: Immortal Spells
’Inkwell, huh...’ Vale mused.
As soon as he entered, the scent of parchment, dust, and arcane ink overwhelmed him.
There were stacks of books that towered dangerously high. They were probably books that were about to be thrown out due to their condition.
There were also some books in special containers or shelves... Aside from that, Vale noticed some scroll racks that lined the walls. These scrolls were sealed with wax bearing unique emblems or symbols.
Behind the counter was a gentleman with a monocle...
’Interesting...’ Vale mused as he confirmed that the gentleman wasn’t simple. He was actually an Immortal, probably higher than Vale himself.
Some sort of Spell definitely veiled his presence, but with his special abilities, Vale could tell—this was at least a Lesser Immortal who was on the verge of advancing, or he had already advanced to a higher level; he wasn’t sure.
"Browsing?" The man asked without looking up.
"Yes," Vale said simply. "I’m searching for knowledge on Immortal Spell Fusion. Its requirements. Strategies. Compatible spell types."
The man didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he looked at Vale.
Perhaps, he considered what type of Path he had chosen to advance.
This happened swiftly as the man probably confirmed that he had traces of Shadow Divinity. With that in consideration, it would be easy to know what he was looking for...
With a flick of his finger, one of the shelved books glided down to the counter. Well, there were also quite a few people like Vale who didn’t have a master to teach them.
They were people who were able to have a lucky encounter. People who were able to obtain treasures, heirlooms, or even rob treasures from the graves of the Immortals who had perished.
Because of that, the gentleman already knew what kind of problems these people would face...
"The Arcanum of Symphonic Spells: On Fusion, Harmony, and Catastrophe... This is a book made by a Sky Immortal of Shadow Path..."
Vale accepted the book, and of course, he couldn’t even flip it open without paying...
It was quite reasonable since books like this had enlightenment... Once he opened it, there would be a chance for him to just absorb the author’s will and learn more about the book immediately.
After paying five Divine Crystals, Vale finally managed to flip it open. The first page began with a simple quote:
"The fusion of power is not the union of strength—it is the harmony of truths. And without resonance, Immortality becomes madness."
Vale smiled as this was quite similar to what he knew about the Arcane Path...
Indeed, without proper harmony or control, the chosen path could lead to madness instead. As a matter of fact, the Darkness Possession Potion that he consumed before didn’t just lead to madness but to death.
The storekeeper, noticing that Vale was now invested in the book, gestured for him to sit on the chair meant for customers like him.
Vale obliged... Although he could extract the book as well, he wasn’t sure if he’d get the knowledge he wanted or not, so he might as well read the book.
As he dug deeper, he realized several things...
Each Immortal Spell has a hidden resonance signature, tied to the user’s Intent, Path, and Origin.
The Spell Fusion to reach the Earth Immortal indeed required four Perfect Realm Spells with complementary Spell Models...
For example, a shadow-based defense art, a shadow movement art, a darkness-based offense spell, and a sealing technique could resonate as one cohesive whole.
He also confirmed that the most successful fusions were not about similar effects, but similar spiritual meanings...
’Spiritual Meanings, huh...’ Vale mused...
He kept reading until the pages turned to fusion disasters...
This was something he surely wanted to avoid... Apparently, there were case studies of Immortals who tried to merge a Firestorm with a Time Dilation spell, or an Ice Cage with a Blood Curse.
The result? Insanity. Corrupted cores... or the collapse of their Immortal Bodies.
"Urgh... Why would you combine those Spell Models anyway?" Vale muttered while shaking his head. He wasn’t sure if it was due to desperation or recklessness.
Then Vale reached a section that caught his interest...
"Among the most successful fusions recorded in the Shadow Realm, the following combinations were noted:"
’Shadow Veil Step’, ’Ebon Fang’, ’Wraith Armor’, and ’Dusk Reaping’ — fused into the Immortal Art: ’Sovereign of Nightfall’.
’Umbra Chain’, ’Shadow Seal’, ’Silencing Cloak’, and ’Echo Blade’ — fused into the Immortal Art: ’Phantom Dominion’.
’Nether Mirror’, ’Dark Binding’, ’Abyss Gaze’, and ’Soul Slice’ — fused into the Immortal Art: ’Twilight’s Judgement’.
"These names..." Vale whispered. He couldn’t help but feel impressed with these combinations... Sovereign of the Nightfall, Phantom Dominion, Twilight’s Judgement... These are Spell Models that he could obtain if he learned those Celestial Arts to become an Earth Immortal.
"Incredible... However, where am I supposed to get those Celestial Arts? And do I even have the time to master them to Perfect Realm?" Vale wryly smiled at this thought...
"Are you selling Spell Models of Celestial Arts—I mean, Immortal Spells?" Vale suddenly asked the storekeeper.
"Mhmm? Immortal Spell Models? No... You can only find some Arcane Spells here... There were also some books about the Immortal Spells, but the Spell Models weren’t recorded. Those things, especially the popular or strong ones, are owned by large Clans or Organizations." The gentleman replied as he looked at Vale.
He just realized that Vale was indeed too clueless about the situation in this land.
"I see... Thanks for answering my question." Vale replied.
Indeed, as he browsed the shelves with his Divine Sense, he confirmed that the shop’s spellbooks were Arcane-level, clearly targeting younger or less advanced Practitioners.
But Vale’s sharp senses quickly located a special case in the back, guarded by a high-tier formation...
Inside, there were a dozen tomes and scrolls marked with gold and silver emblems... There were also unmistakable marks of Immortal-Level Spells!
’Ah? They have Immortal Spells...’ Vale paused for a moment before he realized that this bookstore, or whatever it is, must be an organization, and he must be part of it in order to get access to it.
