Chapter 54: Hades’s petty vegeance.

If he had his way, Hades Quinn would have showed up to Jon Kingsley’s house dressed like a literal cat burglar. But his wife was very much against it and so he had no choice to wear all black as if he was going to a funeral.

As soon as Jon’s butler let them into his house and he took a look at the couple, that was the first thing Jon Kingsley commented on.

"Are you two going to or coming from a funeral?"

Hades nearly sniggered and made a joke, ’Your funeral.’ But he did not say it and he maintained a straight face. "Can’t an old friend visit?"

Jon Kingsley spat into the tea he was pretentiously sipping. Wind blew some air into the house, blowing his silk bathrobe and exposing his pink boxer briefs with cartoon drawings. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com

Sunshine hid her face in Hades’s chest and tried hard not to laugh. Jon Kingsley was worth eleven billion and those were the boxer briefs he chose!!

"Nice boxers Jon." Hades sneered.

Jon’s eyes widened. He turned around and rushed back upstairs to change into something more presentable. His guests saw this as an opportunity to begin their heist, starting with Jon’s favorite prized rare orchid that he had acquired for 200,000 dollars.

Sunshine had acquired a camera jammer from the system, so they were not worried about being seen. It also helped that Jon had fired all of his staff recently and only retained four. She saw some beautiful pink hydrangeas and swiped them as well.

"Those are cheap." Hades whispered.

"Really! they look expensive." She whispered back.

Hades pointed her to the gold clock on the wall. She smiled back and swiped it. In the living room of Jon’s house were our paintings and Hades looked for the most expensive one.

His eyes found the painting that he had Jon had bid on, but Jon won. For years, he had been using the painting to taunt him. Sunshine nodded and she swiped it. She shrugged and swiped another one.

Hades nearly squealed childishly. This was exciting, it had a special delicious flavor of vengeance which united them as a couple.

Jon’s house was very luxurious; it looked like an interior design magazine had thrown up gold and mahogany. Velvet drapes and gold picture frames.

The butler came in and offered them tea.

"We will go to the kitchen and make it ourselves." Sunshine replied.

Hades’s eyes lit up. "Oh yes, Jon and I are best friends, his house is like my house and my house is like his. We can take care of ourselves."

The butler looked at the wall. No clock, no paintings!! He shook his head. He was sure that something was missing, and he looked at the couple. Their hands were empty, so it was impossible for them to have stolen.

"Jon has been packing up and sending a lot of things to Westbrook Mountain. Do you know why?" Hades asked the butler.

The butler relaxed, deciding that the missing items had probably been packed up. "I don’t know about my master’s private affairs; I am simply the butler." He gave the well-practiced answer which every curious person was getting.

He turned and left, and the couple dashed to the kitchen. Hades’s eyes widened at the gold-plated espresso machine which Jon always claimed was one of a kind. "That." he hissed.

Sunshine swiped it. She did not know why he wanted it or need it but she took it. They swiped all they could and moved to the study.

"INTRUDERS INTRUDERS!" A parrot shouted.

"Aaaah..." Sunshine shouted.

Hades grabbed her hand, and they sprinted for the front door, knocking down the butler in the process. Hades was not sure if they were running fast enough so he lifted Sunshine off her feet and told Jo-Stride to roll until they got to their vehicle. They entered the car, and drove out quickly, laughing very loudly.

They did not get to hear Jon’s outraged screams, roaring their names.

Back at the nunnery, Carson Warnock was still waiting for a miracle. It had been close to an hour since he fed his sister his blood and there was no change. His heart started to crack, and he held her tight.

Carson cried. Not a loud wail of outrage but the kind of cry that makes one throat hurt and their shoulders shake. As grief was doubling, he heard a coughing sound coming from Anna.

He looked down with wide eyes, shocked and thrilled at the same time. He had no idea how he had done it but Anna was alive.

Ana was even more baffled when she realized that there were no more red vein markings on her hands and she did not feel weak and as close to death as she was before. "My God!" She exclaimed. "How-how? This is a miracle."

Then suddenly, she started to scream and held her head like it hurt, her brother’s memories filled her head, she saw it all even the mist and what he encountered after until that very moment.

Carson panicked. The priest had said the infected people screamed and then died. Had he failed? "Anna, Anna..." He shouted her name desperately. "Help, someone help us."

Outside, the few that heard his calls assumed that Anna Belle Warnock was breathing her last.

Anna’s screaming ceased at once and it turned into wincing.

"Anna." Carson bellowed.

She pulled away from him a little because he was bellowing into her ear. "I am okay, Carson your memories just pushed themselves into my mind. What is going on? I saw dead people and I saw you dying." She widened her eyes and touched his chest. "You were burned very badly."

"I healed, I don’t know how." He lowered his voice and whispered.

"Let’s heal the others." She rushed to stand, in a hurry to save her friends and other townspeople.

Carson gripped her arm and shook his head. "We cannot. I am on the run because the Secretary Ceaser wants me in chains, tied to a lab table in a dark site where I will only leave in a casket. If I run around healing the town, what do you think will happen? Everyone here might end up in the dark site with me. Nobody can know that I healed you. We need to leave right now before others ask how you have been healed."

"But.." Anna started.

Carson knocked her out. He knew his sister and that she would willingly give up her life to save everyone in the town even if she ended up in a black site. But he was not willing to watch that happen. Anna did not know the horrors of Ceaser Rommel. If he got his hands on them, they would become mice in a cage to be diced and bled.

He had a burner phone, and it buzzed. A message had been sent from an old army buddy of his that knew he was on the run. There was a location and a name.

Westbrook. Sunshine Raine.

Carson got a white sheet like the one covering the dead bodies. He covered Anna and carried her out of the nunnery. She would hate him for the choice he had made, but she would be alive.

Hopefully, she would forgive him.
