Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies-Chapter 262: Like a back up
With a cold face, Bai Meiyue stepped inside the car without even giving Lei Qian a good look. With the good things that Lei Qian had done last night, he didn't even dare to let out a fart. He simply followed Bai Meiyue and slid inside the car before stepping on the accelerator and driving away from the inn.
Bai Jixuan noticed the subtle atmosphere between his sister and the dog man; he narrowed his eyes, looking a tad bit annoyed but he didn't say anything. No, he couldn't say anything because he had no idea what actually happened last night!
Bai Zhan glanced at his little brother and shook his head. He knew that even if he asked Bai Jixuan to stop looking for trouble, his little brother might not listen to him. Compared to him, Bai Jixuan was much more protective of Bai Meiyue.
Even though Bai Meiyue was taken away by Bai Qingshi when she was only four years old, Bai Jixuan had already developed the sister protector personality by then. If not for the fact that they were extremely poor and Bai Meiyue didn't wish to see them, Bai Jixuan would have run to the big city to beat Bai Qingshi every time he bullied Bai Meiyue.
Now Bai Zhan only hoped that Bai Jixuan would restrain himself and not look for a fight with Lei Qian.
The City Hospital was not far from the inn where they had rested last night. They only needed to drive past the crossroads and then take a right before turning left. It didn't take more than a few minutes for their small group to arrive at the hospital.
Ho Ho.
Ho Ho.
The sound of zombies roaring filled the streets. The entire street seemed to be filled with countless zombies. It was so densely packed that even Bai Meiyue felt her scalp tingle. The streets outside the hospital were so densely packed, she could already imagine how it must be inside the hospital.
"Start from the corner over there." already here, Bai Meiyue didn't want to change the plan. She said to Lei Qian and her brothers, "That's the weakest spot for now. At least we can break this long line."
Zombies didn't have the same cognitive abilities as humans. They would follow their instincts. Like a sheep following sheep. As long as there was a high concentration of zombies or humans, it wouldn't take long for them to surround that region.
The first thing they needed to do was create a small path for themselves. Thus, Bai Meiyue pointed to the small entrance of the parking lot. There were a lot of zombies inside the parking lot but because the entrance was too small, there were not many zombies circling around the entrance.
Lei Qian nodded and then stepped down the car along with the Bai brothers. Once the rest of the team saw them stepping down, they followed suit and chased after the Bai Meiyue and rest.

Soon the zombies that were at the outermost side of the exit were taken care of by Bai Meiyue, Bai Zhan, Bai Jixuan and the rest of the team, along with Lei Qian.
Some of the zombies, of course, escaped their grasp and went to the back of the group, where they were dealt with by Jiang Haidai and Meng Suisui.
Lei Qian wanted to deal with these zombies quickly, as the swarm of these zombies would only get thicker if they were not taken care of. He had been practicing long-distance moves ever since Bai Meiyue mentioned it and had finally developed a skill that allowed him to create a sword made of his own flames and cut down his enemies.
He raised the sword in his hands and brought it down heavily. With just one swipe, he charred more than fifty zombies. The raging flames cut through their bodies and then burned them completely. Once the zombies were burnt to crisp, Lei Qian only needed to crouch down and collect the crystal nuclei out of their skulls.
Soon, his entire bag was filled with crystal nuclei.
Bai Meiyue turned and looked at the man who had cleared up more than one-third of the zombies. She pursed her lips and picked up her pace as well; if she didn't, then she was worried that all the zombies would be cleared up by Lei Qian and the rest of the team.
She didn't want to lose the precious crystal nuclei to others. She quickly absorbed the essence of the nuclei that she had collected and then released it within her body. Once her strength had more or less gotten a bit better, she raised her hand and created a large water serpent. Though the serpent was made of water, it was not less than a real one.
Its fangs were enough to bite through the skulls of the zombies and when it curled its tail around the zombie, it would squeeze it to death without making any efforts.
And when nothing worked, the serpent could spit out icy shards or boiling water that could melt even rocks as per Bai Meiyue's mood.
If not for the fact that she had to take it easy and care about her little son, Bai Meiyue would have created two serpents and dealt with these zombies on her own. Bai Meiyue didn't want to push her body too much.
Creating such a familiar already took a lot of energy. Bai Meiyue was worried that if she pushed herself too much, the supernatural energy would run out and when she was not paying attention, it would start running on her spiritual energy, which might be disastrous to her soul and body.
The relationship between the supernatural and spiritual energy was like a main power outlet and the back up power bank. In case the main power outlet ran out of power, the backup power bank would be used.
However, the power within a back up was limited and the same could be said for the spiritual energy, which was deeply connected with the soul.
If she overused her supernatural powers, the familiar would draw power from her soul, but spiritual energy had a limited supply and would get extinguished in a matter of a few hours, ultimately resulting in death.
