Chapter 88: Chapter 88: The Stall Owner

"Duan Heng!" A roar filled with incredible fury broke out, and soon, a huge beastman was thrown out, landing on the ground and creating a small dent.

"How many more valuable materials are you going to break?" A beastman stood on the doorway, his face flushed in anger as his finger pointed tremblingly at the so-called Duan Heng. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Behind their stall was a blacksmith workshop. They were selling weapons.

"Boss, please give me another chance!" Duan Heng begged as he crawled out of the small dent in the ground. His face was filled with injuries, and thankfully, they were all external wounds.

He hugged the leg of the beastman that just threw him out. "If you throw me out, I’ll no longer be able to eat, Boss, please, just one more time."

Clearly, the beastman was unmoved. He kicked Duan Heng away, but the latter was like a maggot clinging to a bone. Annoyed, he had to crouch down before he could pry Duan Heng’s hands off his legs.

The surrounding stall owners didn’t seem to be surprised by the scene, as if it was normal. At most, they would glance at Duan Heng and his boss, their eyes flickered with annoyance at the noise.

Xie Ziyuan only gazed at the drama briefly before he scanned the items before him. There was no one else coming to this stall, probably because of the poverty.

The items that this stall was selling wouldn’t appeal to people who had to scrape by just to live. Even if some people were interested, they would leave immediately once they heard the price.

On the long table, there was some fur of an unknown fierce beast, vials of blood, horns, and many more.

Xie Ziyuan picked up a vial of black blood from the table. "How much is it?"

He didn’t even glance at other items.

The stall owner raised his eyebrows. "Young man, you have a good eye. This one from a rare fierce beast, a black bird. People usually mistook this as zombie blood and want to throw it away." He clicked his tongue in disdain.

"How much?" Xie Ziyuan asked again, not interested in the stall owner’s long speech.

"Two fourth-order crystal cores or 8000 crystal stones." He directly named his price, not expecting Xie Ziyuan to buy it.

However, he was taken aback when he saw the silver wolf beastman really taking out two fourth-order crystal cores.

"Wait..." The stall seller abruptly stood up as he watched Xie Ziyuan already turning around to leave with the vial of blood. There was no expression of reluctance after he had just spent so much money.

"The price is wrong." The stall owner jumped and chased after Xie Ziyuan. His pupils darted around as he quickly thought of a price. "It’s five fourth-order crystal cores!"

Seeing Xie Ziyuan walking faster without looking back, the stall owner became helpless. This silver wolf beastman was walking too fast!

The wheels on his mind turned, and his eyes lit up. He screamed. "Stop there, you silver wolf! You didn’t pay enough for the item. This is robbery, robbery I say!"

Some people became quiet after his scream, yet no one came over to help him to stop Xie Ziyuan. They merely glanced at him.

He gritted his teeth. "If anyone can stop that silver wolf beastman, I will give you a reward!" He paused briefly. "A third-order crystal core!"

Everyone was in uproar after they heard that. Their gazes changed as they looked at Xie Ziyuan, filled with greed.

Soon, a beastman who was the nearest to Xie Ziyuan stopped in front of him, blocking his way and said righteously. "Silver wolf, I don’t believe you didn’t hear that. Quick, go back and pay the stall owner the amount he deserves! Our city does not tolerate robbery!"

Seeing someone stepped up, others quickly followed, wanting to get a share of the pie. After all, a third-order crystal core was still worth around 1500 crystal stones; they could split it among a lot of people.

Xie Ziyuan frowned, his gaze at them became sharp.

He hated others touching him the most! As such, he avoided their hands that were about to grab him. In a calm tone, he turned around and walked back to the stall owner, skillfully evading any touches from strangers.

The beastmen still chased after him, wanting to capture this ’robber’.

Seeing his calm gaze that seemed to have a sinister hint, the stall owner became quiet. He had become greedy because the silver wolf beastman looked weak. There was only him walking alone.

Only at this moment did he realize the reason this man was sauntering alone confidently. He wasn’t just another pretty face without the means of fighting back...

"Didn’t you say that the price is two fourth-order crystal cores?" Xie Ziyuan questioned him, stopping right in front of the stall owner.

Some beastmen were about to righteously ’catch’ him, but he kicked the beastmen away without even glancing at them. Because a small crowd had formed nearby, the force brought by the kicked beastmen inevitably would push more beastmen back, causing them to fall down.

"I-I..." the stall owner gulped. He was quick to think of a reason. "I wasn’t telling you the price! I was counting to remember its actual price!"

"Then, the price of two fourth-order crystal cores is invalid, right?" Xie Ziyuan questioned calmly, showing no hint of anger.

"That’s right, that’s right!" The stall owner nodded furiously. "Yoh paid it wrong just now. Give me three more fourth-order crystal cores and the item is yours!"

Xie Ziyuan’s lips curled up. "Then, the deal is off."

He jumped toward his stall, taking back the two fourth-order crystal cores that were fortunately still lying on the table. Well, the fortunate one was this stall owner.

Had he pocketed the crystal cores, Xie Ziyuan might have ripped off his pants to get them back from him.

"Here, your blood," Xie Ziyuan said flatly as he threw the vial back to the stall owner.

The stall owner subconsciously caught it back, staring in a daze. "You... you no longer buying it?"

It was the highest price he had offered for that blood. Usually he only offered it at one fourth-rank crystal core. People simply wouldn’t buy that one because they were afraid the black color was a sign of zombie beast’ blood.

Seeing Xie Ziyuan getting away without answering him, the stall owner began to panic. He started to regret his greed. The black blood was useless for a simple seller like him.

He often changed the place where he sold these things, acting mysterious and lazy so that he could attract big customers. Only he himself knew that these parts of the fierce beasts weren’t actually worth much.

Because they had witnessed this unassuming silver wolf beastman’s strength, no one dared to stop him at all. The crowd parted like the sea for him.

"Wait, this gentleman..." The stall owner suddenly shouted, trying to run after Xie Ziyuan but failed because the crowding beastmen were blocking his way.

He stammered, "I-I just checked... the price is indeed two fourth-rank crystal cores, Mister... Come, go back and we will have a deal! This time, it’s truly a deal!"

Soon, Xie Ziyuan was gone among the sea of people no matter how many people searched.

Xie Ziyuan went back to the inn, not in the mood to explore anymore. However, the next day, just as he exited the inn, someone grabbed him.
