Apocalyptic Beastworld: A Farming Space Dimension to Another World-Chapter 78: The City Token
"What are you looking at since earlier?" Su Jinghe asked. She seemed to be so engrossed in her phone since earlier.
Su Yining pursed her lips. Even until now, her crying outburst was embarrassing. As someone who had always lived alone and forced herself to be independent, such a thing was unacceptable for a while.
She felt that she was weak. Yet, upon thinking about it again, it was still normal for a human to cry once a while, right? She just needed time to accept it.
So, she distracted herself by playing the farming game again, checking the seeds she could plant in the farming space in the future. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
There was also grape orchard, sweet potato, even cotton plant.
Alas, her current account level was insufficient to purchase those seeds even if she had the gold coins available.
She went to answer her Yuanyuan before her brother’s question made her jolt awake. She coughed before answering. "It’s a game."
"A game?" Su Jinghe raised his eyebrows.
"You don’t believe me?" She showed the screen to him, to which he glanced at briefly before showing an uninterested look.
"What kind of game is that?" He shook his head. "Not a war game, right? Or game about exterminating zombies and such."
"Of course not." She nearly rolled her eyes. "Do you still like your shooting zombies game?"
In his childhood, he often play such a game with his friends. As the only girl, she could only watch as it was also more fun than participating directly.
Her brother always had the highest kill.
He coughed and didn’t answer for a while. "I only played game when I was little."
Anyway, he wouldn’t admit he was that loud adolescent who would be screaming on top of his lungs every time he did a big kill.
"This game I play is also an apocalypse game." Su Yining shook her head. "I was a bit cheated because the teaser and ads mainly show about farming, but it’s still fun." She chattered for a bit, talking about the game she liked.
"If apocalypse happens, what would you do, brother?" Suddenly, she asked curiously. "Shooting as many zombies as possible?"
"Silly girl, there is no such a thing like apocalypse. It will not happen." Su Jinghe shook his head, glancing at his watch. "Let’s send you back, it’s already dark."
***
Su Yining ended up letting Su Jinghe know about her address. Anyway, he was different than that pervert stalker Chen Kaixuan, anyway.
Perhaps, he was her last family member who still cared a bit about her.
Even if she had peacefully accepted everything, her lonely life seemed palpable at times, especially after her grandparents’ death.
She threw herself on the bed. Everything that had happened today still felt surreal for her.
She and her brother had made up. Or if they haven’t already, they were close to it. She was willing to accept that.
Although her brother was too fierce sometimes, but he was indeed good to her. Actually, he had never changed at all, did he? Over the years, he was just mad at her, and... feeling betrayed.
"Sorry, brother." She didn’t hesitate to press send. Once she did, she let out a relieved sigh.
Her eyes trained on the ceiling, dozing off for a few minutes before she opened the game again. She had thanked her Yuanyuan earlier; she wondered whether he had replied again.
"Thank you, Ziyuan. Because of your advice, now, I and my brother have made up." She had told him.
Meanwhile, it took Xie Ziyuan some more time to digest her words. They made up? So... is she going to leave with her brother? He stared at the letter for some time until he decided to ask.
"Are you going to follow your brother? Family usually live together, don’t they?" He put the letter inside again, somehow filled with dread regarding her answer.
Su Yining blinked.
"No way, I am not going to live with my brother. I have my own comfy, small house, although it is rented. The landowner is very kind," she answered.
It had taken Xie Ziyuan longer for him to retrieve the paper again this time. No matter what, he still needed to know.
After all, he was doing this for the sake of the base... it was hers and he wouldn’t know what she would do with it if she left. Would she brought the castle back with her?
Once he read the letter, however, he let out a breath he didn’t knew he was holding.
But... he needed to read twice to digest her words. She rented a home.
He fell into a long daze. This ghostly woman even had such a magical key that could turn into a magnificent castle; why did she even need to rent someone else’s house?
It didn’t make sense. He pondered deeply, trying to gauge some possibility from the information he had gotten about her so far.
She was still shrouded in a veil of mysteries.
Seeing her Yuanyuan hadn’t answered again after a long time, she fell asleep.
Xie Ziyuan exited the inner space once he was done talking to Su Yining. Everyone already sat near the huge fireplace, trying to make themselves feel warm.
They were currently in Leng Chuan’s village, staying there for the time being. As much as they didn’t like the sound of it, his village was safer than theirs.
"Master Xie," Leng Chuan called out. They had just finished dinner and beastmen were scrambling away to the empty houses. "I want to hand over something."
With that, he produced the token made of white bone. Its surface was smooth and a little shiny, filled with runes.
"Are you giving this to me?" Xie Ziyuan asked.
"Yes," Leng Chuan nodded. "It’s of no use for us."
Xie Ziyuan didn’t stand on ceremony and took it, his gaze deepened. If he used this thing, he wouldn’t need to sneak in to the cities. There were simply some items he must get from there.
He traced the smooth surface, guessing something.
The people killed by the four criminal beastmen were of the same species—squirrel beastmen—so, they were most likely the same group as Qi Mian and Qi Tao.
He had distributed some of the siblings’ items to his newly-recruited residents. There were quite a lot of pills and talismans. They were also of the decent quality.
On top of that, they also had the messenger bird. So, they must have come from a powerful tribe.
The bear beastman had run away, but what about the Qi sibling’s fate?
