Chapter 21: Chapter 21: Turning into Dust

They all exchanged glances, thinking that the monkey beastman’s move was quite predictable. With such a heavy injury, it was like grasping the last thread of hope of survival.

However, Lin Yuyao scowled. "I said we don’t take immoral people!"

Look, even Xie Ziyuan was kind enough not to throw him out to die under these fierce beasts!

Actually, she had also refused quite a number of people who wanted to join before. Now, they were staring at her with displeased gazes.

She was initially scared when she saw those eyes that looked like they were about to devour her, but then she remembered that Xie Ziyuan was there.

The people who had been rejected for registration became more restrained then. They merely argued a little before they were forced to accept her decision begrudgingly.

When they brought the matter to Xie Ziyuan, he actually supported the Lin siblings. As such, they didn’t dare act rashly.

Xie Ziyuan found it a little troublesome, so he assigned the siblings to decide on the beastmen they would bring. He had asked them to note their personalities. Unexpectedly, the Lin siblings were quite meticulous.

The beastmen just didn’t know that although the perceptive Lin Yu’an had an innocent look on his face, he was secretly observing. They must have thought the decision lay with Lin Yuyao, unaware she largely took Lin Yu’an’s opinion in the matter.

Lin Yu’an looked like a kid who was easily fooled, sometimes a little naïve, but that was because he could perceive people who were malicious or not better than his sister.

After all, it was because of him that they met the scary-looking Xie Ziyuan. He always wore cold expressions that made him unapproachable, yet he treated them kindly!

Although Xie Ziyuan handed the decision to the siblings, he also would remind them to reject anyone who had malicious intentions. Thankfully, no one slipped through the net.

Among the rejected people were, surprisingly, Qi Mian, and unsurprisingly, the beastman beside her.

They would contradict each other sometimes and other times, they would agree with each other’s opinion. However, Lin Yu’an keenly sensed they did that to achieve the same goal.

They had subtle relations and contradicted each other only to play in a good cop, bad cop manner.

"No... no..." the monkey beastman wailed, letting out a high-pitched screech. Everyone winced, glancing at him in annoyance.

They ignored him.

Why did a lot of beastman suddenly register themselves to join Xie Ziyuan and the Lin siblings?

That was because the eagle’s words had woken them up.

"I will register myself," he had said to the Lin siblings before he introduced himself to Xie Ziyuan. "Master Xie, I am very useful. I can do aerial scouting for you. If not because of the cunning means the traffickers used on me, they wouldn’t have caught me."

His eyes landed on the monkey beastman briefly before he continued, "The monkey had suffered just after he came out of this place, so there must have been many fierce beasts outside. I hope that you can help us get out safely."

Everyone widened their eyes as if they had just realized something important. The eagle’s words were absolutely right!

Even if they stayed behind, there was no guarantee they could make it out alive once they got out of the cave. It was better to take a gamble and join forces with this powerful silver wolf beastman! Only then would they have a sliver chance of survival.

"Your name?" Xie Ziyuan unexpectedly asked.

The eagle beastman was a little flattered. "My name is Mo Lingfeng."

Xie Ziyuan nodded and didn’t ask further.

Soon, everyone fought to register themselves at Xie Ziyuan. When they saw him ignoring them, they finally set their sights on the Lin siblings.

In total, besides the monkey beastman, Qi Mian and her partner, there were also two other beastmen they didn’t take.

As the night became deeper, the more anxious they became. Although those who had registered themselves were also anxious, they didn’t voice it. Silently, they prepared themselves for a harsh fight.

"Fifteen minutes before midnight," Xie Ziyuan announced, glancing at the clock on the cave wall.

Some technologies from the pre-apocalypse still remained, including the clock to tell time. It was what they call the modern time, once the golden era of technology on the planet.

The traffickers must have gotten it from the beastmen community. It also made sense considering their line of work; they would need the buyers. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Xie Ziyuan stood up from his place and headed to Zhou Yunhan’s cage, the black panther. All eyes followed after him, mostly filled with anticipation while the rest hoped he would fail and embarrass himself.

"Master Xie, you can send others too. I am–" before Zhou Yunhan finished his words, they were stuck in his throat. His eyes widened in shock, so were the eyes of the surrounding people. They all gasped.

They saw how the cage, which was made of a special material, turned into dust when Xie Ziyuan touched it.

"Is the cage made of cotton?" Someone gulped.

The people closest to the other caged beastmen touched their cages, making the beastmen inside darken their faces. There weren’t only one of two who were shaking their cages. It made them uncomfortable.

"Move." Xie Ziyuan ordered them coldly.

They hurriedly made a way for him, eyes filled with renewed hope and excitement. There was a chance they would make it out alive if he was that powerful!

Once Xie Ziyuan turned the other cages into dust, he frowned a little. His chest felt a little tight, signalling he would need some time to replenish his energy. He might have overexerted his body again...

"Anyone who has registered and accepted, stand in line and form a circle. Grab each other’s hands," he commanded again.

Xie Ziyuan waited for them to do as he commanded. Even the Lin siblings unhesitatingly did as he told them. He frowned when he felt another wave of pain wracked through his blood vessels.

Others who saw him frowning felt their hearts tighten, and the process became smoother. They were afraid of being abandoned. No one spoke until they finally made a circle wide circle.

A total of twenty people. They had recruited seventeen people in total this time.

Xie Ziyuan walked toward them, walking in the center of the circle. He finally took out the teleportation talisman. It was a high-level talisman that should be able to transport a lot of people. The maximum is a hundred.

The moment Qi Mian saw the teleportation talisman in Xie Ziyuan’s hand, her eyes widened.

"Wait, Master Xie... I also want to join! I am sorry."
