Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister-Chapter 255: Her Parents
"This is the place?" Zerra murmured. The welcome gate was already broken, and the place looked ominous.
"Yes." Jasmine swallowed with fear in her eyes. Clearly, this place had given her a psychological shadow.
Collin also had a similar reaction. His eyes kept moving about, scanning the surroundings with an unsettled appearance. As if he were expecting a zombie to jump out of nowhere.
Zerra was expressionless. "You two can go back. I will give you the antidote and the location of the supplies your people need."
The two of them froze. "Miss, you already gave us supplies for our small base?"
She nodded. "There are too many, so you won’t be able to bring them back once we arrive in this city. Enough for your people for several months."
There were more than a hundred people at that small village human base. If the supplies could feed so many of them for months, it must have been a lot.
Jasmine and Collin exchanged glances, hesitation in their eyes.
"Is there something else you need?" Zerra noticed their hesitation. She handed each of them a vial. The poison’s antidote.
The journey to the Tidebreaker City was smoother than they expected. It was largely also because Zerra had taken most of the burden, eliminating every zombie and mutated beast they encountered.
If they were to go back, the return trip wouldn’t be as smooth. Not to mention that there were just the two of them. Every time they went to the city, it had taken them a team consisting of ten ability users at least. Not all of them would survive too.
Originally, they had lured Zerra here with ulterior motives. Upon witnessing her ability, they agreed they should get rid of her. She was like a ticking bomb, which might endanger their small base...
"You might not know this city very well..." Collin spoke, gritting his teeth inwardly. "We can guide you, Miss."
Afraid she might refuse, Jasmine opened her mouth. "Actually, the story I told you before is completely false. We weren’t a bunch of tourists who were separated from our families because they are dead. I am sorry. We were desperate before."
She could feel Collin’s glare, but she pretended not to see it and continued. "We can tell you our story as we explore the city, Miss."
Zerra curved up her lips, her expression more relaxed.
However, Jasmine’s heart almost jumped when she saw that. She hurriedly shoved the antidote back into Zerra’s hand. "If you don’t believe us, you can keep our antidote for the time being."
Zerra waved her hand. "Drink it. It doesn’t matter. You can follow me inside if you want. Let’s hear your story."
The city has been abandoned for years. The last time people had taken refuge here was probably years ago. Most of the time, they just visited and didn’t dare to stay too long because of the overwhelming zombie numbers.
The dust and dirt had accumulated for too long. Wild plants grew unhindered.
As Zerra entered the gloomy city, the two exchanged glances before they steeled their hearts to follow her. They prepared themselves for any attack, scanning the surroundings warily.
"We are still at the outskirts of the city, so there should be a few zombies here." Jasmine sounded hopeful. It was unknown whether she was telling them or herself.
After they walked for around a hundred meters, they decided to stop. The sky had gotten darker again.
"We will rest for the night there." She pointed to the building nearby. Among all the ruined buildings, it was the most decent one.
Jasmine and Collin nodded, swallowing their doubts. They hadn’t seen a single zombie after they entered the city. Although the outskirts were scarce of them, they usually met one or two.
The building was originally a retail store, although the shape was almost unrecognizable now. All the items inside were mostly already gone.
"There are two bedrooms on the second floor." Zerra knitted her eyebrows. If she slept with Jasmine, she wouldn’t be able to inspect her current power advancement.
"Miss, we will share a room together." Collin tugged on Jasmine’s sleeve with a smile. He shot a warning look toward her. The latter shut her mouth and sighed.
She didn’t have a choice but to tell Zerra, "Yes, we are already used to sharing a room together during missions. Men or women, we are still friends with each other."
Zerra nodded at them and went to her room. She put a barrier around and began to inspect her power improvement–her heart had been itchy since she stepped on the land.
The first one was her tails. She turned into her fox form and jumped onto the bed she had taken out.
Now... There were five!
She stared at the fluffy tails in astonishment. The sixth tail wasn’t too far away from solidifying too.
No wonder she could easily command the zombies a hundred meters away to stay as far as possible now. The range of influence had increased immensely!
It was great. She could even spot the nearby zombies now. Contrary to Jasmine’s words about the scarce number of zombies, there were actually over a hundred of them.
It was an interesting case. Was there a sudden spike in zombie numbers? She wondered.
Her heart palpitated. She had come here for the sake of finding a shop that might have a map. Her space didn’t have one. In order to go back, she would need it.
Since she was here, might as well investigate it.
"What’s wrong?" Zerra let the dragon cub out, hugging it. A smile decorated her face as she imagined the little thing sulking and kicking a fuss because she kept him inside for too long.
However, her face changed greatly when a scorching hot breath fanned her face. She resisted the urge to cough. Just as she thought it was her coughing, the baby dragon had hunched over, coughing on the bed.
He looked so miserable that she could feel her heart getting ripped out.
"Little one, talk to me. What’s wrong?" She panicked when she saw the dragon cub began to have difficulty breathing.
He was slowly recovering, so why?
She hurriedly injected her wood ability into him, delivering as much as she could. The baby dragon suddenly turned around, hugging her before disappearing into her inner space again.
Originally, she didn’t notice it, but when the baby dragon was already gone, she could now see two familiar auras...
Her parents!
