Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister-Chapter 253: Strange Transformation
"It’s still in the experimental phase." Zerra’s smile grew wide. "I don’t know what kind of effect it would have on you. You can die within minutes... or your bones will slowly melt."
The three people were terrified. Although it was proven to be futile, they still tried to spit out the poison from their mouth.
Zerra sat down, taking a bag of chips from her inner space as she watched their performance. Her whip bound them tightly like indestructible chains.
"Want to try some?" she offered as she watched them coughing with pale faces. Blood slowly drained from their faces. No one of them dared to speak.
She clicked her tongue. Their labored breathings and Zerra munching on her chips became the only sounds audible in the silent night.
"Dear friend, please forgive us. We are too greedy." Jasmine gritted her teeth and spoke. Her eyes filled with unwillingness, but she knew she had no choice.
Zerra glanced at her, then focused on her chips again. After she took a bite, she took another chip and offered again, "Want some?"
"I want to try it." Surprisingly, Jasmine muttered first.
The two men were currently engaged in a whispered conversation with each other.
"Don’t be fooled by her threats. What if she is just bluffing!"
"But... we can’t take a gamble with our lives." The other muttered indignantly, glancing at the indifferent Zerra in wariness.
Their attention abruptly shifted to Jasmine who suddenly took Zerra’s chip offer. They watched as Zerra stood up and approached them. The three subconsciously recoiled back.
"Open your mouth." She told Jasmine with a smile.
Jasmine hesitated. She took a deep breath and then opened her mouth. Zerra put the chip inside before she turned around and bounced back rather cheerfully.
Inside her space, the dragon cub was also enjoying a pack of potato chips. Hence, she craved one.
She returned to her former position, sitting while enjoying her chips amidst the three people’s doubt. Jasmine already closed her mouth, the chip remained unchewed. After a while, she steeled herself and slowly munched on it. By then, it was no longer as crispy.
Once she swallowed it, she heard her companion’s voice. "Girl, you mentioned making a deal, right? How about you release us and we will keep your secret tightly shut?"
Jasmine secretly rolled her eyes. He acted like he was coaxing a three year old. The girl in front of them seemed innocent and silly, but she was definitely not someone easy to talk to.
"Really?" Zerra blinked. She tilted her head. "Are you representing yourself or your entire little group?"
"I–" Just as the man hesitated, she cut him off.
"Think about it carefully. If you make the wrong choice, they will also suffer with you." Then, she turned to the other two. "You won’t blame him if he further drags you two into misery, right?"
Her last sentence sounded like a warning.
Jasmine sighed and kept her silence. So was the other man. Meanwhile, the man noticed his two companions’ silence and was annoyed.
"I will represent myself." He gritted his teeth. Inside his heart, he secretly cursed her and his two pig teammates. The girl was willing to give in so easily, but they didn’t seize the chance. It was extremely foolish. Just wait, they would regret it.
Once he left this tent, he would definitely spread the news that she possessed a space filled with supplies. He wanted to see how she would handle a lot of ability users ganging up on her then.
She would have no choice but to hand over her supplies willingly. Originally, they wanted to hoard the supplies for themselves, allowing her to join their small team, but...
Zerra watched the lively expressions on the man’s face. She could already guess what kind of thoughts were running through his brain.
She curled her lips and shifted her attention to the other two. "How about you two? Do you want me to release you because you don’t really believe I had poisoned you two? It’s a one time offer. Once you make a decision, there is no turning back." She hummed a little nonchalantly.
Jasmine kept her mouth shut. The man snorted condescendingly, and the other man had a look of hesitation on his face. All the tension from swallowing the allegedly poison was gone.
One time offer would mean that once she released them, they wouldn’t get an antidote. Besides... could they believe her?
"You have to keep your word." The man suddenly opened his mouth. "If they are too scared of imaginary poison, I will prove that you are just bluffing!"
Zerra lifted her eyebrows. "Alright, I will take your silence as an acquiescence you are willing to make a deal with me then." She paused, glancing at the man. "As for you, I will release you now."
She got up again. The whip binding the man was gone. He huffed and got up vigilantly, taking a step back. Seeing that Zerra had no intention to attack him, he hurriedly exited the tent before she changed her mind.
However, just as he took a step outside...
A blood-curling scream rang out. Zerra furrowed her brows. Fortunately, she had used her spiritual energy to make a barrier. Otherwise, his scream would wake up others.
The man’s companions snapped their heads toward him, their hair rising. They witnessed as the man clutched his neck in agony. He wanted to say something, but his throat seems to be stuck.
His body fell to the ground.
He still didn’t give up. With pleading eyes, he turned his attention to Zerra, as if begging her to release him from the pain, wanting to take back his words.
Zerra glanced at him coldly. She already sat back in her original position, continuing to enjoy her chips amidst the man’s agonized screams and the remaining two people’s fearful expressions.
She could still be so calm when facing such a situation...
Soon, the other two found out what kind of poison she had forced to feed them.
The man’s feet slowly melted, turning into a puddle of blood. His eyes were filled with despair, which slowly morphed into anger and ferocity.
He lunged toward Zerra, and she witnessed an incredible transformation.
The man was shifting into something inhumane. Fur grew all over his body. Then, he bared his fangs, limping as he was on all fours.
His only target was taking revenge on Zerra. As if he was making one last effort, he put all his power in one strike.
"Is that all you have got?" Zerra didn’t even stand up.
Just as the man’s claw was inches away from her head, she took a knife. In a split second, the man already sprawled on the ground, leaving a bloody trail.
But the blood coming from his feet was nowhere near to the amount from his chest.
Still, he didn’t die, sprawling on the ground. His body twitched wildly.
"It turns out to be a flesh dissolving poison. Quite potent too..." she murmured. "I should make more next time."
The man was enduring great pain, but his consciousness was still there, waiting until one last chunk of flesh completely dissolved.
She grinned at the remaining two people. "Maybe I should give you a temporary antidote first, eh? It will be a hassle if I have to find other people."
With that she stood up, rummaging through her items in the inner space, humming. "Let me search for it. Lest I pick another poison."
The two shuddered. Their companion’s agonized screams were akin to a warning, making them shake slightly.
"Open your mouth. I hope it’s the correct one." Zerra unexpectedly fished out another bag of... chips?
She was talking to the other man. "If you don’t hurry, you might end up like him."
He snapped to his senses and hurriedly opened his mouth. As the chip was inside his mouth, he chewed and swallowed so quickly that he didn’t even have the time to enjoy the taste of the rare snack in the apocalypse.
It shocked him so much that the antidote turned out to be the snack she had offered to them at the beginning.
"You already ate one, so you don’t need another for the time being." Zerra told Jasmine. She added, "This kind of poison will act faster the more you move."
Jasmine couldn’t describe the complication in her heart. She was a little doubtful about the antidote, however... even until ten minutes later, they were still alright.
Meanwhile, their companion already turned into a puddle of blood.
Zerra glanced at him. "How can he turn into a werewolf?"
It was an incomplete transformation, but she still found the matter odd.
Jasmine and the other man exchanged glances and saw the surprise in each other’s eyes. They quickly adjusted their expressions.
"In the second year of the apocalypse, people began to experience strange evolution." Jasmine began. "They slowly grow animal characteristics."
Zerra was startled. "Since second year? What year of apocalypse is it now?"
Evolution couldn’t have happened overnight.
