Apocalypse with my SSS Harem Beauties-Chapter 116: Regret
Myles strode forward. Multicolored Ether wrapped his entire body. It was no longer flowing but blazing, licking around his limbs like fire. Red, blue, green, and black intertwined, flaring brighter with every step he took toward Ryan.
He had just used a skill that did not belong to this world. A power that came from a higher realm.
The entity inside Ryan understood that immediately.
High beings like her sometimes played with lower creatures. Sometimes they whispered. Sometimes they tempted them. Sometimes they toyed with those lower creature’s fate for their own amusement.
But they never handed over power like this. They never gave a mortal access to an ability so pure and intact like this.
"Even during an Etherfall... even with a Seed involved... this should not be possible," she thought, anxiety creeping into her mind.
However, it had happened right in front of her eyes.
Her gaze locked onto Myles through Ryan’s eyes, and the desire bloomed sharp and vicious. She needs to kill him. Tear his soul apart.
But first, she needed to escape.
She forced more power into Ryan’s body.
"RRAAAAA!!!"
Ryan threw his head back and roared as Ether surged violently through his body. The shadows binding him cracked, the tendrils trembling as pressure built from him.
Myles saw it and he immediately moved faster.
He raised his hand and fireballs formed one after another, launching without pause. They detonated against Ryan’s body in rapid succession. The explosions stacking and flames swallow him whole.
Myles didn’t care about his MP. He didn’t feel the drain because Ether poured into him endlessly from an unknown Source, flooding his body.
The backlash would come later. Right now, Myles doesn’t even have the capacity to think about consequences.
Right now, there was only one thing that mattered.
Ryan burned, but he didn’t scream. The entity inside him strained desperately, forcing Ether outward, trying to tear free of the Shadow Bind.
But the shadows still held. Myles closed the distance.
He was in front of Ryan in an instant.
The Fangblade came down and a brutal diagonal slash was created across Ryan’s chest. Blood sprayed and splashing across the ground.
Ryan snarled defiantly, teeth bared, refusing to kneel.
Myles didn’t stop. He attacked again and again with a heavy and merciless attack, driven by instinct alone.
Then... blood-red Ether erupted outward from Ryan’s body.
The explosion slammed into Myles and hurled him back through the air, smashing him into the ground hard enough to crack the street beneath him.
The entity had made her choice. She forced more of her true power into Ryan.
The Shadow Bind shattered completely. Darkness tore free from the ground as Ryan wrenched himself loose and staggered forward.
"Attack!" she ordered.
Ryan took one step.
But then he collapsed.
His body slammed face-first into the rubble, limbs twitching before going still.
The entity screamed inside his mind.
"Useless! This body is useless!"
She felt it clearly now. The mounting wounds carved into him by Myles. The strain of Ether forced far beyond mortal limits. It all created the pressure of power that did not belong in flesh like this.
Ryan’s body could not endure anymore.
Myles forced himself upright again. His knees scraped against the broken street as he rose, his lips pulled back in a constant snarl. Rage still burned in his eyes as he charged forward once more, dragging his battered body toward Ryan.
The entity inside Ryan felt panic. She had already poured too much of herself into this vessel. Far too much. The connection between them had deepened beyond what was safe. If Ryan was captured or killed, her presence would be exposed and would make her able to be tracked and anchored.
That could not be allowed. That could jeopardize her position.
With no room left for brute force, the entity made a desperate decision. She drew her power back, piece by piece, and began the delicate work of controlling Ryan’s body directly—carefully and precisely—forcing motion without tearing the vessel apart.
Regret filled her thoughts. She had been careless and arrogant. But regret changed nothing now.
Ryan’s fingers twitched. His arms trembled as he pushed himself up, blood dripping from his body onto the rubble below. Every movement looked strained and unnatural, like a puppet pulled by invisible strings.
Myles was already closing in. Then he leapt.
"HAAAAA!!!"
With a feral roar Myles jumped into the air, both blades raised high above his head, Ether flaring violently around them as he prepared to bring them down in a killing strike at Ryan.
But when he landed, Ryan was gone.
The spear wielder had thrown himself sideways at the last possible instant, rolling across the shattered ground with barely controlled movement.
He skidded to a stop near the edge of the street, smoke and dust swirling around him.
He rose unsteadily and turned back.
Ryan’s eyes met Myles’.
There was no mockery left. No amusement. Only cold, focused, and burning hatred directed straight through the connection.
Then he turned and ran.
He vanished into the fog of debris and collapsing structures and slipped into the maze of burning buildings without hesitation.
"GET BACK HERE!" Myles screamed.
The sound ripped from his throat, raw and desperate. He tried to give chase. He took a step forward...
But his body gave out.
His legs buckled beneath him. He collapsed heavily onto the ground as the multicolored Ether around his body flickered, dimmed, and then vanished completely, like fire snuffed out by sudden darkness.
Myles hit the street hard.
"Get back..." he muttered weakly.
Then everything went black.
At that moment, the air above him warped. Space split open with a silent tear, forming a jagged rift in the sky.
From it, a pair of massive black wings emerged.
A figure stepped through.
Lilian descended from the rift and landed beside Myles, her wings folding behind her as the tear sealed shut.
The moment her eyes fell on his unmoving body, her expression darkened.
"Oh... Myles..." She said with a saddened expression.
She knelt beside him immediately, one hand reaching out to touch his bloodied face, her face grim with urgency as smoke and embers drifted around them.
"I’m sorry. I was too late." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
