Chapter 251: Chapter 251: Liora... or Aeris?

Liora pulled back, breathless.

Her chest rose and fell rapidly as her fingers loosened their grip on Xu Kai’s shirt. The space between them felt heavy with everything unspoken. She could still feel the heat of his lips on hers, the tingling sensation where his hand rested on her waist. Her heart beat like a war drum in her chest, wild and out of rhythm.

She looked up, eyes wide, unsure of what she’d find.

But what she saw made her breath catch all over again.

Xu Kai was staring at her like he was trying to burn her into memory—like she was the only thing in the world he could see. His gaze was molten, hot and intense, and it didn’t waver. Not even for a second.

Liora’s cheeks flushed deep red. She suddenly became aware of how close they were, how daring she had been, how she had kissed him without warning or permission. Her courage fizzled, replaced by panic and embarrassment.

"I—I shouldn’t have done that," she stammered, voice barely above a whisper, her hand starting to pull away from his chest. "I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to—"

But she didn’t get the chance to finish.

Xu Kai moved faster than she could think.

He cupped the back of her head and pulled her back in, but this time it was different.

This wasn’t a gentle, hesitant kiss like before.

This one was deep filled with possessiveness.

His lips crashed against hers with a kind of hunger she had never felt from him before. It was like something inside him had finally broken loose. His grip was firm, fingers tangling in her hair, anchoring her to him as if afraid she might vanish. His other hand slid to her lower back, drawing her closer until there wasn’t even a sliver of space left between them.

Liora gasped softly against his mouth, stunned, but her body moved on instinct.

Her arms looped around his neck, and she kissed him back with just as much urgency, just as much need. Every emotion she had buried—fear, longing, confusion, love—it all poured out through that kiss. She melted into him completely, her fingers threading into his hair, holding him like he was her last anchor in a world full of shifting truths.

Xu Kai kissed her like a man starved.

Like he had waited too long to feel her like this.

Like she was the only thing that could save him.

The kiss was slow at first, but quickly deepened into something consuming. His mouth moved with purpose, tasting her, claiming her in a way that made her feel dizzy. She could feel the tremble in his arms, the tension in his jaw, the way he held back just enough not to lose control. But it was close. He was close.

The heat between them was unbearable.

She could feel his breath mingling with hers as they broke for air, only to fall right back into each other like gravity itself had shifted between their hearts.

Liora’s head spun.

She couldn’t think.

Couldn’t speak.

Her whole body hummed with feeling, the kind that left her weak and breathless and utterly overwhelmed.

When they finally pulled apart again—this time slower, their lips parting with reluctance—she was shaking.

His forehead leaned against hers, their noses brushing, and both of them stayed like that for a moment, breathing each other in.

Neither of them said a word.

Because they didn’t need to.

Everything had already been said in that kiss.

Xu Kai’s hand gently moved from her back to her cheek, his thumb brushing across her flushed skin.

His voice came low and hoarse, filled with emotion he could no longer hide. "I didn’t just like you, Liora. I tried not to. I really tried. But I love you."

Her heart stopped. but she didn’t speak.

She didn’t have the words—not for what she was feeling, not for the storm swirling through her chest. Her breath was still ragged, her hands still tangled in the back of Xu Kai’s shirt like she was afraid to let go.

But she didn’t stop him.

When his hand slid gently along her waist, when his lips trailed lightly along her jaw, down the curve of her neck, she didn’t stop him. Her body shivered beneath his touch, not from fear, but from the weight of emotion building inside her like a rising tide. The way he held her—it wasn’t just desire. It was reverence. It was a kind of tenderness she had never known.

He kissed her like she was something sacred.

Like she was made of stardust and history, of broken pieces finally fitting back into place.

His hands moved slowly, carefully, as if memorizing every inch of her with his fingers. And she let him. She leaned into him, gave him her silence, gave him her trust. Let him worship her in his quiet, wordless way.

But somewhere in the back of her mind, something still pulled.

A question.

A quiet ache that hadn’t left since the memory—since the truth was finally spoken. When she was doubting her identity...just who really was? She could not completely trust system at all not after he changed his entire statement.

She wasn’t just Liora.

She had been Aeris too.

And Xu Kai... had known both.

She stared at him through the haze of warmth and rising emotion. Her heart pounded against her ribs as her lips parted, and before she could stop herself, she whispered,

"Xu Kai..."

He paused, his mouth brushing just above her collarbone, his breath warm against her skin.

"Mm?" he hummed lowly, not stopping.

Her hand gently rose, pressing against his chest—not to push him away, but to ask him to stop, just for a moment.

He felt it immediately.

He stilled, his eyes rising to meet hers.

And then, she asked it softly.

Almost too softly. She couldn’t hold herself further.

"Who do you love... Xu Kai?" Her voice trembled. "Liora... or Aeris?"
