"Let’s get inside. The sun is rising and it won’t be good if it catches us out here." Ye Xuan suggested.

He could already feel that the few minutes they had stood there, the temperature had risen by several degrees.

It was estimated that the temperature had already crossed 40° Celsius and would climb even faster once the sun had fully risen.

"Yes captain." His teammates replied in unison and started walking forward while Chu Miao just hummed softly and also headed inside.

It was more tiring dealing with these people than killing zombies.

"You don’t have to mind those people. Sooner or later they will get what’s coming for them. Besides, with the stunt you just pulled, I am sure they won’t dare to bother you again in the future." Ye Xuan comforted Chu Miao when he saw that she looked weary.

"I am not bothered that much by them. But it’s disheartening to think that while humanity is fighting to survive, there are still people who want to take advantage of others instead of joining forces to clean the zombies from our planet." Chu Miao said as she pressed the 18th floor button of the elevator.

"We will eradicate the zombies someday with hard work and help from those who are like-minded and wish for our world to become clean and peaceful again." Ye Xuan reassured her.

He was willing to do anything to eliminate all the zombies so that Chu Miao could live in a pure environment like before.

He swore to become stronger and kill as many zombies as possible.

When they got to the 18th floor, the others exited the elevator with their supplies while Chu Miao and Ye Xuan kept going to the 20th floor.

Ye Xuan dropped the supplies in his hands outside the apartment door of Chu Miao’s family then went back into the elevator to get the rest.

Chu Miao turned and looked at him as he disappeared into the elevator and shook her head.

She could have brought all the supplies up in two trips with his help but he insisted on doing it alone saying that she was tired and should rest.

Was he not tired as well? They killed zombies together, so their fatigue should be similar. Moreover, she had the spring water that could restore strength faster.

She was probably in a better condition than him, but if he wanted to act like a tough man, she could just let him be. It wasn’t a bad feeling to be cared for.

She opened the door of the apartment and moved the supplies outside the door into the kitchen.

As she walked out of the kitchen she heard a knock on the door. Knowing that it was Ye Xuan, she didn’t stand on ceremony and invited him into the house.

"Come on in." She could offer him a glass of water mixed with some spiritual spring water so that he could recover his strength faster and reduce fatigue. This way, he will be more comfortable when he sleeps.

Ye Xuan walked in carrying even more supplies than before and asked where to put them.

Chu Miao directed him into the kitchen where he placed them together with the rest.

This was his second time in this house, but this time he had a different feeling. It felt like he was more accepted here than before.

"Have a seat in the living room, I’ll get you a glass of water." Chu Miao offered as she walked back into the kitchen.

Ye Xuan was happy with the invitation and went to the living room he had been invited to during his first visit here.

He had just sat down when Chu Miao appeared again holding a glass of cold water and offered it to him.

Ye Xuan took the glass and drank the water in small sips. He wanted to take his time and stay together with the girl for as much as he could.

"Will you be going out again tonight?" He decided to start a conversation because sitting there and sipping water like it was tea looked weird.

"I’ll confirm with my family first if they would like to go. Most likely they will because they’ve been in seclusion for a few days and would want to use battle to stabilize their cultivation." Chu Miao replied.

Ye Xuan was a little disappointed that he wouldn’t be fighting with her alone but was also glad that, at least, he could get to fight in the same battlefield as her if he went with her family.

So, he decided that he would go cultivate for a few hours and then sleep so that he would have recovered to his peak by nightfall.

He didn’t know if it was his illusion but he felt that the more water he drank, the better he felt. His strength had recovered to some extent and he felt something like a warm current moving in his meridians.

Even though the temperature was high and the current was warm, it didn’t make him uncomfortable. On the contrary, he felt much better.

Even though this was the first time he had felt like this, he knew that it had something to do with the water he was drinking.

He didn’t say anything or ask any questions. He was smart enough to know that him not asking unnecessary questions was what had earned him the little amount of trust Chu Miao accorded him.

"Can you call me before you leave in the evening. All of us can go out and kill more zombies and also collect crystal cores." Ye Xuan asked Chu Miao as he finished the water in the glass.

"Sure, I’ll call you at 8.30pm. At that time the sun would have set for a while and the weather cooled a little." She agreed immediately.

She was happy because even though she was sure Ye Xuan had noticed something was wrong with the water, he didn’t ask questions. Although he didn’t know if whatever was added in the water was good or bad, he still drank every last drop of it

Gaining such trust from someone she had only known for at most a month was unbelievable. But she was happy as she felt that she hadn’t misjudged him.
