Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive-Chapter 560: The Secret of The Apocalypse
When the first zombie’s claws slashed toward her, she stepped aside, redirecting its momentum with a water current. Her palm struck its chest, and light detonated.
The zombie convulsed as purifying energy flooded its body, killing virus strands at the core.
It collapsed instantly and the next second, it turned to ashes, leaving behind nothing but a crystal core.
The second one did not hesitate and reacted quickly. It opened its wide mouth and roared. That was a signal.
From rooftops, hundreds of evolved zombies leaped down, agile types, bone-spiked types, even a winged one gliding between buildings.
This was the first time Chu Miao had seen such a zombie. Moreover, the way they were responding so quickly made it seem as if they had been waiting.
This was clearly an organized attack, but how did they do it so quickly when she and Chu Hao had been teleported there randomly?
Weren’t City A’s zombies adapting a little too fast?
"There are too many evolved zombies here." Chu Miao commented as she made a few gestures and the air in the place where the screaming zombie was standing close to her, twisted.
The zombie was crashed and mangled when Chu Miao straightened the space again.
This was the first time Chu Hao had witnessed his sister use her space element in battle instead of just travel through teleportation.
"Should I fire a flare? There are too many of these stronger and evolved zombies joining the battle." Chu Hao suggested but he was shut down by Chu Miao.
"Absolutely not." Her voice was cold but calm.
She had the strength to deal with these zombies. She was a nascent soul after all. It was just that she hadn’t expected the evolved zombies to be so different from the mindless monsters they were used to.
Especially the one with wings. It could dodge even close-range attacks and escape.
Besides, if they as the leaders retreated on their first battle, the morale of the other sect members would suffer and the zombies would only grow bolder.
She wasn’t going to give them that chance.
Chu Miao raised both hands, the sky turned dark, the falling icicles stopped mid-air, then began melting. Water filled the sky forming a large sphere that covered nearly every corner of the battlefield.
Then, rain began falling. It was a huge downpour that soaked every zombie within sight in seconds.
As if he had been waiting for this moment, lightning descended from the sky causing Chu Miao to turn her head in surprise.
She had been planning to attract lightning herself and didn’t expect someone to lend a hand.
As lightning struck the ground, it travelled fast among the zombies because of the wet ground and electrocuted every zombie within range.
In less than five minutes, charred corpses littered the entire battlefield.
Most of the evolved zombies had perished.
Another zombie inside a building about two hundred meters away roared and the remaining zombies retreated like a tide.
They were organized as they disappeared into buildings, sewer lines, and subway tunnels.
Chu Miao burst out with light energy that chased after those Retreating zombies and wherever it passed, ashes scattered and only crystal cores remained intact.
When the light faded, and she curled her first to collect the crystal cores, she realized that in that short battle, more than two hundred thousand zombies had perished.
She noticed that some of the crystal cores were different from the rest. They were higher in quality and purer. These were obviously the crystal cores of those evolved zombies.
It seemed that they were similar to spirit stones where low grade spirit stones contained less power and the higher the grade the more and purer the power contained inside.
What was more, she could feel a trace of immortal qi inside those higher quality crystal cores.
It seemed that the apocalypse wasn’t as simple as she had thought. Even knowing that it was caused by opening a channel to the past, something else seemed to be in play.
"How are these zombies so organized? Also, why did they retreat like that?" Chu Hao asked when he saw how the zombies stopped fighting and treated, clearing the streets in moments.
"It seems that this battle wasn’t actually a battle but a test from the zombies. They are testing our strength. As for why they retreated after realizing they couldn’t win, it seems that they are preserving their strength. For what reason? I cannot tell, but it is obviously nothing good. It seems our plans must advance quickly, otherwise, mankind will surely suffer great losses." Chu Miao realized that the situation was worse than expected and decided to clean the city before the extreme cold ended.
They didn’t know what disaster would follow after this and whether it would allow them to fight. If these intelligent zombies took advantage of the changing weather and natural disasters then mankind would be in trouble.
At that moment, the two hour window where the icicles stopped falling arrived.
"Collect the crystal cores, fast." Chu Miao instructed her brother as she stepped forward and began opening the heads of the zombies that hadn’t been burned to ashes.
They moved fast and within twenty minutes both of them had a large pile of crystal cores in their space.
"About three hundred high-grade crystal cores from evolved zombies." Chu Hao reported with a smile.
Chu Miao frowned a little thinking that they were too few. But thinking that these crystals contained a trace of immortal qi, she had to be satisfied for now.
These were precious cultivation materials once they ascended to the Immortal Realm.
While she was still contemplating, a flare suddenly shot up into the sky from a distance. Looking in the direction it was released from, it was the southern direction.
Chu Hao cursed under his breath and muttered, "That’s the direction of the third team. Chichi is there."
Chu Miao raised an eyebrow when she heard that. She had thought that her brother had given up on that girl, turns out he still liked her. Why hasn’t he made her his girlfriend then?
