Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive-Chapter 117: Telling the Family
Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Telling the Family
If not for his quick reflexes, he would probably have a shoe print on his handsome face.
"Who did that?" He asked in anger only for it to be doused by cold water when he heard who spoke next.
"Who gave you the guts to yell at your sister? Is this how you usually behave when you go out with Bunny?" Grandpa Chu asked with an angry tone.
When he heard his grandfather’s question, and remembering the shoe, Chu Hao could only lower his voice before replying.
"I didn’t do anything to her. I was just criticizing her a little for making hasty decisions. I wasn’t hurting her or anything." He tried to explain.
"Were you lecturing Bunny? Who gave you the courage to do that?" His father also jumped in to reprimand him.
Chu Hao once again wondered if he was adopted. This family was too biased. They didn’t even know what his good sister had done and were ready to go to war to protect her. How absurd.
He didn’t bother defending himself anymore because he knew it was useless.
Seeing her brother get ganged on as soon as they entered the house, Chu Miao was happy, but also felt sorry for him. She was the one in the wrong and even though her brother was annoying sometimes, he was still her beloved brother.
So, she decided to rescue the pitiful child.
She ran over to her grandfather and held him arm, then started to act coquettish.
"Grandpa, don’t be angry. My brother is just a little upset that he can’t hog his sister anymore. So, please don’t get mad at him."
She also thought that this was a good opportunity to break the news of her relationship. She didn’t want to postpone it and then cause trouble later.
"What do you mean ’hog his sister’? What is he hogging you for?" Grandpa Chu asked. It seemed he had yet to catch the main drift in that sentence.
It was not about why Chu Hao would hog his sister, but why he couldn’t hog her anymore.
Grandpa Chu may not have caught on, but Chu Mo had. So, he asked directly.
"Why is your brother no longer able to hog you Bunny?"
"Mmm....go on and tell everyone what you have done." Chu Hao felt like he had found an ally who could ask the tough questions.
To be honest, he wasn’t against his sister dating, but he just thought that she was too young. If she was already twenty, then he wouldn’t have overreacted.
Chu Miao turned around and gave her brother the stink eye before turning to look at her father, mother, the butler, and finally looked at her grandfather next to her.
She had to tell them sooner or later, so she might as well be open about it.
"Ye Xuan and I are dating." She dropped the bomb and kept quiet.
Then came the deafening silence in the room. Even the irritable Chu Hao was quiet.
No matter what he had seen or heard that day while they were outside, he had pretended not to see or understand.
Even when he argued with his sister, it was just light banter between siblings. But deep down, he had refused to let that possibility sink in, because if he heard the confession from his sister, it would make it real.
Just as Chu Miao had thought, he had been burying his head in the sand to escape from accepting reality.
But now that Chu Miao had said it in front of everyone, there was no longer any place to escape.
He couldn’t bury his head anymore. Everything had become real. His little sister had another person in her life who would share her time and affection.
He turned his head to the side to hide the sadness in his eyes.
The only positive thing about the whole dating thing was that she had found someone who really cared about her and would not hesitate to risk his life to protect her.
That was why even though he was sad, he didn’t try to oppose it. Not that his opposition would have mattered anyway.
The other family members finally came back to their senses and processed what Chu Miao had just said.
"Sweetheart, you said you are dating Ye Xuan?" Her mother was the first to accept this fact and asked, just to confirm what she had just heard.
"Yes, we started dating today. He is now my boyfriend." Chu Miao replied.
She knew that her family liked Ye Xuan, but she still didn’t know how they would react to the news. After all, hoping for something and actually getting it were two different things.
She looked at her family and observed their reaction, but apart from the initial shock, there were only smiles on their faces. Even she was astounded by their reaction.
"Good, good, good." Her grandfather repeated the word ’good’ three times to emphasize how pleased he was with the outcome.
"That kid finally made his move." The butler said with a smile as if his real granddaughter had made an achievement.
Chu Miao was surprised by their reaction. Even though she knew that they liked Ye Xuan, she had not expected them to like him to this extent.
Was it really alright for her family to be so open-minded?
If it was not the apocalypse and there weren’t zombies roaming outside and torrential rains going on, she was sure that her family would literally light fireworks to celebrate.
This was not the reaction you expect from a family when they find out that their young daughter was dating.
However, her family had always been unconventional, which was why it was harmonious even across generations.
They did not practice patriarchal beliefs. They were happy for each other and would support each other unconditionally regardless of age or generation.
That’s why she loved the fact that she reincarnated into the same family after thousands of years. It was her biggest blessing.
"Did something significant happen that gave that kid the courage to ask you to date him? He had been procrastinating after all." Grandpa Chu asked and everyone turned to Chu Miao with shining eyes for gossip.
