Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive-Chapter 105: Looking for More Building Materials
Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Looking for More Building Materials
After making the decision to go scavenge in other places after leaving the precast factory, the siblings continued to search for other supplies in different buildings.
In one of the biggest buildings within the factory grounds was the place where machines were stored. These machines had almost automated the production process of precast.
They only needed a few people to handle them and monitor the process to prevent any accidents.
Chu Miao thought that they might need them in the future. What if the materials they gather weren’t enough for construction? Or what if future generations needed reference materials to innovate new products?
Therefore, she collected all the machines that weren’t attached to the wall or floor into the space.
In another building, they found raw materials for making precast. There were thousands of cement bags, ballast filled in fifty-kilograms bags, sand, and other stuff that Chu Miao didn’t recognize.
Without a second thought, everything in there ended up in her space.
After walking around in the factory and making sure that they had taken everything useful, they went back to the parking lot to help Ye Xuan syphon fuel from vehicles.
He had already collected thirty gallons and there were still a good number of vehicles that hadn’t been touched yet.
"Ye Xuan, where did you get the jerry cans from? Are there more?" Chu Miao asked as soon as they arrived beside Ye Xuan.
"Are you done collecting the supplies?" Instead of answering right away, Ye Xuan asked a question instead.
"Yeah, we are done. But we thought that since it’s still early, we should find another factory to collect supplies first instead of going back home this early.
Since you said that the government is building bases, they will need construction materials. If we don’t hurry up and collect more, they might seize all the places with construction supplies and we won’t be able to compete with them." Chu Miao explained.
"Mmm...that’s a good idea. Even though from the information I got, they haven’t chosen a suitable place for a base yet, it won’t be long before they do and start collecting materials.
For now, they are still preoccupied with food and water supplies and probably believe that no one will care about the construction materials.
Once this rain stops, they will definitely start collecting them. So, it’s indeed better for us to act early." Ye Xuan agreed with their views.
"So, are there any more empty jerricans where you got those? This way, we can help collect the gasoline and leave early." Chu Hao asked again.
"Yes, the building beside the security station has plenty of empty cans, you can get them there." Ye Xuan replied.
"Okay, little Bunny, wait here, I’ll go get them and bring them over." Chu Hao said to his sister and turned to leave, heading towards the said building.
"Miao." Ye Xuan called out to Chu Miao who was standing a few steps from him and watching him collect gasoline.
"Mmm.." Chu Miao responded.
"Do you think that this apocalypse will end?" He asked this question to her because he believed that she knew something that most people didn’t.
The dreams he had before were no coincidence. He wanted to know how much she trusted him to tell him some truth.
He wasn’t deliberately testing her, but he wanted to know how far he still is from winning her heart.
He had not been aggressive in pursuing her because he was afraid of scaring her away instead. She was still young after all.
"It’s not going to be easy. This kind of virus isn’t going to be easy to research. Moreover, there’s a possibility that some of the most capable researchers have already fallen victim to the virus. In that case, researching it is even more difficult.
However, I believe that someday, it will end. Just not any time soon. Probably not even in our generation." Chu Miao replied.
She also hinted at the fact that the apocalypse might last longer than most people expect.
As they were talking, Chu Hao came back and started placing empty jerricans out of his space on the ground.
The two siblings joined Ye Xuan in syphoning gasoline and it took them an hour to collect a hundred and fifty jerricans.
It was a bigger harvest than expected.
"Okay, let’s go look for other materials. Do any of you know a place where we can get more construction materials?" Chu Miao asked after Chu Hao brought out their car and they were all seated comfortably.
"Maybe we should call dad and ask. He should know more about the companies involved in construction." Chu Hao suggested, but was immediately rejected by his sister.
"We can’t keep asking daddy about everything. By the way, why not just search on the internet? It’s not like any company is working now. If we find a suitable one nearby, we can go there directly." Chu Miao said as she wiped out her phone to conduct a search on the internet. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"I know a workshop that deals with timber. It’s called a workshop but it is quite big. Normally, it has a lot of stock, so we might find some good materials." Ye Xuan suggested.
He remembered the workshop because before his grandfather’s death, he had come here with him to look for a certain type of timber that his grandfather wanted to build a chicken coop.
The old man insisted on that wood because it was said to bring luck. He apparently wanted to eat organic eggs everyday and believed that using such ’lucky’ timber to build a chicken coop will help the chicken he reared lay more eggs.
It was a silly superstition, but Ye Xuan indulged the old man and even accompanied him to look for the timber.
When she heard Ye Xuan say he knew about a timber workshop, Chu Miao turned to look at him, only for their eyes to collide.
Some sparks ignited in the air between them and Chu Miao felt her heart beat like a drum.
