Apocalypse: Reborn with a Soul Sync Farming Space System-Chapter 96 Have You Forgotten?
"No?" Laurel asked, baffled.
Ling Xuan did not spare her another glance, she walked toward Luo, who was busy carving the statue.
"You can’t just walk out on me, and I know you are refusing my request because I asked about your past life." Laurel followed behind her. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"It is so unfair that you can easily go through my memories and know everything about me but I know nothing about you. And that is not even the main fact now, all I’m asking is for you to temporarily take over the body and help with the farming outside while I access the purple room and see how efficient it is." Laurel said, her tone rising slightly with every word.
Yet, Ling Xuan paid no attention to her. Ling Xuan stared at the statue of Laurel and her, a strange weight settled on her chest seeing how close the statue of them were.
The statue of them wrapped their hands across their shoulders, with a cheerful smile. The statue of Laurel was holding a sickle, while Ling Xuan had a sword, and a crossbow behind her back.
Although they had been co-existing for some time now, she never imagined she would soil her eyes with such a view. Would there be a day when they would be like this?
’If there is a day like this, I would prefer it doesn’t come. I didn’t come here for friendship... I came to have my army, to wash away the shame of my past, to prove to my ancestors that I am no failure. To prove to the heavens that I Ling Xuan will dominate the world again. And in my picture is only my army and I... there is no Laurel.
Perhaps I’ve been too calm, I need to find a way to bypass the system... and as for Laurel...’
"I’m talking to you." Laurel’s voice snapped Ling Xuan out of her thoughts.
Ling Xuan’s fist tightened behind her back. Then, a slight crease formed between her brows, if someone did not look properly could easily miss it.
Her gaze narrowed dangerously, and the air suddenly felt like they were teleported to the North Pole.
Luo shivered, pausing from carving the statue, and it wrapped its arms around its chest, its shoulders hunched slightly. "Why is it so cold in here?" It said in a shivering voice.
Laurel felt shivers down her spine, and the hair at the back of her neck stood on end. She followed Ling Xuan’s line of sight, and she unconsciously gulped down her saliva.
According to her perfect mischievous payback plan, the diligent Luo had carved Ling Xuan’s statue to have a crooked nose, a crooked lip, and two missing teeth at the front. Luo even went as far as to add a little mole on her cheek.
"How dare you!" Ling Xuan’s voice was calm yet it carried the chill of a roaring lion.
In the blink of an eye, Ling Xuan summoned her sword, and the silvery light of her blade flashed across their eyes, and in the next second it sliced through the statue like a hot knife through butter, severing it in half.
Luo’s legs trembled, its teeth clattering in fear, and the sword only missed its head by an inch.
Laurel stared with a wide mouth. Seeing she had finally touched the lion’s tail, she stepped back slowly like a thief.
Just as she turned around to leave.
"Stop there." Ling Xuan’s voice echoed from behind.
Laurel closed her eyes in mortification. Summoning her last remaining courage, she turned around and offered the best smile she could muster. "Sister Ling Xuan." She said.
Ling Xuan walked towards her with the tip of her sword scraping the ground. The sound sent fear knotting in Laurel’s stomach.
"It seems like you have already forgotten about who I am," Ling Xuan’s words were slow, but the anger in her voice was evident. "Do I need to remind you again?" She asked, pointing her sword at Laurel.
Laurel quickly waved her hand in the air. "No, no, the memories are still fresh in my head."
How could she forget the moment when Ling Xuan pressed her sword against her neck the very first time they met?
She had thought her edges were finally smoothing out, but she was wrong.
"Try it again, and you’ll be more than sorry." Ling Xuan said, her gaze boring through her, but she slowly lowered her sword.
Laurel pressed her lips together, before slowly nodding her head.
Silence stretched through the air like a thin layer of ice. Luo remained in its spot, afraid to make any movement, else it would have to face Ling Xuan’s wrath. It couldn’t even cry about its work that was destroyed.
After what felt like forever, Ling Xuan parted her lips. "I’ll only take control of the body and help with the farm because I know how important the mission is... and only after completing it can we set out to look for the Snow Lotus."
She didn’t wait for Laurel’s reply before disappearing from the system’s space.
Laurel let out a deep sigh.
"Master Laurel, are you alright?" Luo floated in the air, approaching her with an expression of guilt and sadness.
"Yes," she swallowed. "I’m totally fine... I’m sorry about your work," Laurel said, lowering her head slightly. "Now you’ll have to start all over again."
"It’s okay, Master Laurel... This time I’ll make sure no one has a crooked nose." Luo said, nervously scratching the back of its head.
"I’ll help you clean up..."
"No need Master, you should head to the purple room now. Although time is slower in the space house, the time behind the purple door is twice as fast as outside the space." Luo said.
Laurel hesitated, her eyes wandered to the rocks scattered on the ground. "Okay fine, but if you need help, let me know."
"Sure, I will," Luo replied and floated towards the scattered rock, slowly it began picking it up, and a small void opened beside it, and Luo tossed the rocks inside.
Seeing that Luo had full control of the situation, Laurel headed to the blue door, after a while, she came out with a seed bag, before entering the purple room.
