Apocalypse: Reborn with a Soul Sync Farming Space System-Chapter 70 Because He is Useful
"Laurel..." Chris called out, his palpitations rising.
Ling Xuan’s gaze turned colder, she wouldn’t have cared if not for the fact that he was very useful.
"Don’t tell me you are dying." She muttered under her breath.
"Laurel." She called inwardly.
But there was no answer. Her frown deepened.
"Laurel," She called again... yet there was no answer.
Ling Xuan’s expression turned grim. "LAUREL!"
But still no answer.
Ling Xuan looked at Chris with a puzzled expression, how was she supposed to help him? Whenever Laurel was treating him, she never paid attention as she would rather be on a battlefield, fighting, rather than treating people.
She walked closer to him, her expression turning colder. "Is there anything I can help with?" She asked but her tone said otherwise.
Ling Xuan knew that if she walked away, it would be suspicious as people could easily tell that something was wrong with her.
Chris’s pale face turned paler. "Laurel..." He groaned, all he wanted to say to her was to stop standing there and help him regulate his blood flow and breathing.
Chris wondered, if he had offended her to make her hate him to this extent that she would stand watching him suffer... But Laurel was the kindest person he had ever met... There was no way she would stand there and watch him suffer.
Ling Xuan closed her eyes, trying to reach Laurel again, but it felt like the connection between them was cut off.
Ling Xuan gritted her teeth so hard that her jaw became sharper. She approached Chris slowly. "I’ll help you unbutton your shirt."
She helped him unbutton the upper part of his shirt, in order not to restrict his breathing. However, it felt like she was ripping it rather than unbuttoning it.
"Laurel," Chris whispered, his eyes turning a little bit dizzy.
Ling Xuan tapped his cheeks. "Don’t do that." She said sternly.
She tapped his cheeks a couple of times, his skin was so smooth for a man. "Why are men these days so soft?" She muttered under her breath.
Just then, someone walked into the room, freezing in his spot. From his viewpoint was a woman and a man kissing, and the woman was looming over the man who sat on the chair with a half-unbuttoned shirt.
"Oh." He drawled, stunned.
Ling Xuan snapped her head towards the stranger. A look of relief flashed through her eyes, at last someone was here.
"I’m sorry, I’ll give you both some space." The stranger said, turning to leave.
"Wait!" Ling Xuan called.
The stranger stopped midway. He felt she was embarrassed and decided to walk away to reduce her shame.
However before he could take another step, a strong pair of hands grabbed him from behind.
"I think he is dying. Do something about it or call someone who can heal him." Ling Xuan, she was still composed despite burning inwardly.
The boy’s eyes widened slightly. Realization hit him like a freight train the moment his eyes fell on Chris who was battling to breathe.
The boy ran to him and helped him sit upright, in a position where his hand was resting on his knees. However, Chris was already turning blue.
His body suddenly went limp. The boy quickly laid him on the floor and began performing CPR on him.
Ling Xuan ordered a guard outside. "Find a doctor or a nurse as quickly as possible."
She rushed to the boy’s side who was pressing Chris’s chest. He looked to be around 17-18 years old.
The boy lowered his head to give him mouth-to-mouth respiration, but paused midway. "You should do it." He said.
Ling Xuan’s eyes widened slightly as she raised her head to look at the boy. "What?" She asked, completely clueless.
"You should use mouth-to-mouth respiration or we might lose him." He said, still pressing Chris’s chest.
Ling Xuan glared at the boy, before staring at Chris’s unconscious face. There was no way she was going to put her lips on his.
"Now!" The boy said.
"You do it." Ling Xuan replied without batting an eye.
"I can’t... You should do it." The boy said.
He hadn’t even gotten his first kiss yet, there was no way his first kiss would be stolen by a man.
Meanwhile, inside the space, Laurel who had finished running five laps around the Space house decided to meditate.
According to Ling Xuan, those exercises would help her to become a better warrior. And fortunately for her, Luo had taken her to a secret compartment in the space house, known as the mediating room.
"Master Laurel, once you enter this room, your connection with master Ling Xuan will be cut off as long as you remain here," Luo said with a serious expression.
"I won’t stay long," Laurel replied.
However Laurel had spent more than an hour in the mediation room, yet she was unaware of how much time she had been there.
Back in the control room.
Ling Xuan stared at Chris, the boy was unwilling and the guards were not yet back. ’You are only doing this to secure power in the future... You are only doing this because he is useful.’ She chanted in her head.
Ling Xuan lowered her head, her lips touching his, she closed his nose, blowing air inside his mouth. She repeated it a couple of times.
Chris began breathing again. His eyes fluttered open. Ling Xuan’s cold eyes stared back at him. For a second it felt like the world stilled.
Chris had blinked a couple of times to make sure he wasn’t seeing things.
Ling Xuan pulled away from him, clearing her throat, her face remained stoic and expressionless.
The boy stood up, letting out a sigh of relief. His eyes darted between Ling Xuan and Chris who were stunned... both for different reasons.
The next moment footsteps hurried inside the room. A doctor quickly knelt beside Chris and began administering treatment to him.
Ling Xuan let out a breath of relief she had been holding in. Her eyes glanced at the boy, she walked closer to him, and grabbed him by the hand pulling him along with her.
"Come with me." She ordered coldly that the poor boy felt shivers run down his spine.
