Chapter 22: Chapter 22 A Need For Divorce

Alexander stared at the dirt on his thumb, his eyes narrowing at the fact that it was real.

"Where are you coming from?" He asked again, this time with his voice lowered.

Laurel took the liberty to break free from his hold. She glared at him so hard that if a look could kill, he would have already died.

Camile broke out in sobs, and she gently tugged Alexander’s sleeve. "Mr. Wayne, my sister slapped me because I was trying to speak for her. I feel so heartbroken."

Alexander who was lost in a possible he couldn’t fit together, frowned at her sudden closeness.

What exactly did she expect him to do? He was punched yesterday in the face, and he couldn’t do anything... If anything... she had to bear the pain.

Alexander cleared his throat. "Camile, why don’t you go home, I’ll send one of my drivers to drop you off."

A look of betrayal flashed through Camile’s eyes, but she quickly masked it with a gentle look. She nodded, reluctantly walking away from them.

Her fingers clenched tightly around the strap of her purse, as she entered a black car waiting for her, as if she was being chased out.

The moment the door of the car slammed shut, she looked back at them through the tilted window. Her expression turned to one of hatred.

Laurel had always done everything to please her, so what was different now? Lately, it felt like she was a different person. Her fist clenched tighter... could it be Laurel had also come back?

Camile’s brows furrowed at that thought. If she really was back, she would have already questioned her or even attempted to murder her as revenge.

She cancelled the possibility of that happening. She thought maybe Laurel was being grumpy about something... She decided to keep an eye on her.

’Watch how I’ll get everything that belongs to me back.’ She said inwardly as the car drove off.

...

Laurel turned around to leave, after all it was a long day, and all she wanted was a warm bath, food, and sleep. She had no time to spare for someone’s ego.

"Laurel, why are you ignoring me?" Alexander asked as he followed after her.

"Because I want to rest. Let’s leave this conversation for another day. Moreover, whatever I do is none of your business, and if you won’t file for divorce, I’ll file for one." She said, exhausted.

But her words made something primal wake inside him. Was this the same person who rarely spoke, and was always obedient to everything he said? How could someone change overnight?

"Chris Lennox." He muttered under his breath. "He must be the one who is brainwashing you right? You are together right? And you want to fool me by calling him a patient." His tone became slightly aggressive.

"Send me a divorce paper of divorce, so you don’t have to go through this trouble," Laurel replied calmly, before entering her room.

Alexander stood frozen, staring at her door. He let out a shaky breath. He clenched his jaw tightly so that the noise could be heard. "Lennox..." A dark glint flickered through his eyes.

...

After Laurel had a warm bath, she wore her nightdress.

She lay on the bed with her eyes staring at the ceiling. Although she had gotten some money, it was far from being enough.

There were a lot of things she needed to get, she was missing firearms, and without them, she wouldn’t be able to protect her own place.

During the apocalypse, bunkers and hideouts getting raided was very common. A lot of people lost their survival supplies, and without them, one was as good as dead.

And that was what happened to them in the apocalypse, they lost their hideouts, supplies, and water source. They were forced out into the streets which were being destroyed by the monsters. Lives were lost, but who could have thought the culprit was Camile.

Water is one of the primary supplies she needs currently. She needed to save as much as she could. The stream in the valley could get contaminated as soon as the apocalypse began, and she wasn’t going to bet all of her chances on it.

As long as she could save them in her space, it would be easy to secure and protect. But the problem now was money.

She racked her brain on how to get a huge sum of money. She couldn’t go back to Mr. Lennox. If she could get Alexander to file for divorce, she could get money from it.

She sighed out of frustration, at the thought of him saying no.

What could she do?

Laurel stared at the floating screen with a blank expression.

"Are you serious?" Ling Xuan muttered.

"I guess it is urging us to be faster, after all the apocalypse is coming. The more advanced we are, the easier it will be for us to survive." Laurel said calmly.

"I know." Ling Xuan muttered.

"Let’s get some rest, we have a long day tomorrow," Laurel said, fluttering her eyes closed. ’I have to make Alexander file for a divorce either willingly or... by force.’
