Apocalypse: Reborn with a Soul Sync Farming Space System-Chapter 176 Harvesting Snow Lotus
Ling Xuan clicked her tongue in annoyance as she quickened her pace before running towards the light.
But the mist moved faster towards her.
Ling Xuan noticed that the temperature was dropping drastically, almost as if someone had suddenly opened the door to the North Pole.
Suddenly, her steps halted as a sharp whistle flew past her face horizontally before impinging on the wall. It shattered like glass but the spot it had touched was covered with a thick layer of frost.
Ling Xuan followed the direction from which the strange object flew. Her brows narrowed slightly as crystal-like flowers grew out from the cracks in the wall. They all seemed mature and ready to be harvested.
She couldn’t figure out why the flowers were suddenly attacking, and she couldn’t stay to find out as the mist was already closing in on her.
Ling Xuan started running again, and with every step she took, petals dropped out of the flowers, slicing through the mist as they aimed at her.
Ling Xuan hit the ground with a foot and propelled herself into the air, twisting and dodging the petals.
The petals hit the ground, forming a huge clump of ice.
Ling Xuan’s eyes were fixed on the white lotus flowers that were sitting on top of the platform, with a bright white light surrounding them like a barrier.
’Almost there, almost there.’ She muttered as she picked up speed.
However, the mist had already gotten up to her. Ling Xuan turned around instinctively and her eyes turned purplish. At that moment it seemed like time had slowed.
"So annoying." She muttered under her breath. Channeling her powers to her sword she spun on her heels and she swung her sword in a half arc motion.
The blade severed through the mist disrupting their momentum.
However, the air thickened as the mist began to regroup again. Ling Xuan turned around, walking slowly towards the Snow Lotus.
She swung her sword effortlessly, blocking the flowers as the frost petals collided against the blade and shattered into fragments. The cold spread across the ground beneath her feet while the mist behind her surged forward once again, pressing closer with a force that made the air feel heavier with every passing second.
Yet Ling Xuan did not slow down. She stepped onto the platform, her gaze fixed on the Snow Lotus that stood within the glowing barrier. Her expression remained calm and unreadable, as if the chaos behind her did not exist.
The moment she reached it, her hand moved forward without hesitation, only to stop abruptly as her fingers met an invisible resistance that refused to yield no matter how much strength she applied. Her brows furrowed slightly as she pressed against it again, confirming that she could not pass through.
Behind her, the mist surged violently, and the frost petals shot toward her in sharp bursts. They struck the barrier one after another and shattered upon impact without leaving a single mark, as if the space within it existed separately from everything outside.
At that moment, the system appeared before her. Its screen flickered into view with a calm indifference that contrasted sharply with the danger surrounding her.
[Only hosts with light attributes can enter.]
Her eyes darkened slightly as she read the message. The meaning settled instantly, and she did not waste even a second hesitating. If she did, she knew it would have great repercussions.
Her voice remained calm and direct as she called out inwardly.
"Laurel."
"Yes?"
"...Take control."
At the same time, the mist and frost petals charged toward her from behind, closing the distance in an instant as if they had been waiting for this exact moment. Ling Xuan did not turn back, nor did she raise her sword again.
Her cold eyes turned vacant before changing to a softer one, and her deadly aura turned into a calmer and welcoming one. The moment Laurel gained control, she immediately stepped forward at once, passing through the barrier without resistance.
Her eyes widened slightly the moment she entered. The air inside felt completely different, calm and peaceful, as if everything beyond the barrier had been cut off entirely.
She turned around instinctively. The mist circled the barrier while the frost petals continued attacking it relentlessly, striking over and over again as if driven by something they could not control. Yet none of it could pass through, and she could not bring herself to understand why.
Her gaze slowly returned to the Snow Lotus as she approached it. Her steps were careful and unhurried, while her eyes lingered on the flowers in front of her. Their petals were white with a soft shine like fresh snow under light, delicate yet firm as they stood untouched at the center of the space. There were nine of them.
Laurel paused for a moment before speaking softly.
"System, show me how to harvest the Snow Lotus."
The screen appeared in front of her once again, shifting smoothly as instructions formed clearly before her eyes.
[Snow Lotus Harvest Instructions:
First, loosen the soil around the root carefully to avoid damage. Then hold the stem close to the base to maintain stability.
Twist gently while lifting to release the root.
Avoid pulling forcefully to prevent tearing.
Store immediately in a stable environment.]
Laurel read through the instructions carefully. Her expression turned into a focused one as she crouched down.
She immediately willed a hand fork and gloves out of her space system. Then she began harvesting the Snow Lotus.
Her movements became gentle and precise as she followed each step, loosening the soil around the first Snow Lotus before placing her fingers at the base of the stem. She twisted slightly, then pulled it out cleanly. Once it was free, she stored it immediately.
"The trader only asked for two," she murmured, her gaze shifting toward the remaining flowers. "So they must be important."
After thinking for a brief moment, she decided to harvest all the Snow Lotus, although she did not know their purpose but she believed they might come in handy in the future.
She reached for the next one and repeated the process with the same care. Her movements became smoother with each attempt as she harvested them one after another, ensuring that none of the roots were damaged while placing each Snow Lotus into her space.
The moment she pulled out the last Snow Lotus and stored it away, the calm within the barrier broke, as the cave began to rattle violently.
