Chapter 37: Chapter 037 I Have a Capricious Space

After dinner, she gave Xiao’ai a fragrant bath, dried her off, and then tucked her into bed.

Perhaps exhausted from playing all day, Xiao’ai fell asleep shortly after hitting the bed. Su Shu tiptoed to turn off the light and close the door before returning to her own room, planning to check the space inside the Ink Jade Ring.

The ring had long been linked to her consciousness, which was the only reason it had reincarnated with her. However, Su Shu had thought hard but couldn’t remember when this connection was established. Thinking too much gave her a headache, so she set it aside, knowing that the space inside the Ink Jade Ring was hers to use was enough.

The last time she entered, she only took a rough look.

When collecting goods, she only focused on storing the food in the warehouse she had previously selected, without giving much thought to anything else. Upon entering, she discovered that the sacks of rice and flour she had collected were neatly and orderly arranged layer by layer in the warehouse.

Su Shu stood at the doorway of the warehouse, amazed, and what surprised her even more was another feature. There was a crossroad inside the doorway, just wide enough for one person to pass, seemingly designed to facilitate the movement of goods. The crossroads were paved with rectangular stone bricks. Whether it was an illusion or not, she always felt that the warehouse seemed a bit larger than before.

After checking the stocks of rice and flour, Su Shu stepped out of the warehouse and stood in the yard, feeling very secure as she looked at the small courtyard.

With this space, if she and Xiao’ai ever faced insurmountable difficulties, they could hide here for temporary safety. However, hiding from the world was not a solution. The sudden crisis of the Apocalypse would one day pass. She had never considered running away from what she needed to face.

It took two to three hours to organize everything she had previously brought in. Fortunately, she

examined the main living quarter and two side rooms but found no modern items, suggesting the space also had been around for some time. The master bedroom had two brocade quilts, the surfaces exquisitely embroidered, so fine that even someone like her, who knew little about such things, could tell they were of high quality. Touching them, she felt they were indeed fine items.

After a full circle, Su Shu felt that the previous owner of this space must have been someone indifferent to fame and wealth, someone whose temperament persisted modesty yet elegantly from inside and out. It was clear from the surroundings that the owner had a fondness for nature and revered the natural way of being.

Regardless, she had looked everywhere and found no rare treasures of any kind.

In a corner of the yard was a well. Feeling tired, she drew some cool well water and sat at the stone table in the yard to drink and rest.

The nature inside the space seemed to operate as its own ecosystem, no different from the outside. There were breezes and sunshine. However, Su Shu noticed something different still.

Last time she entered, the sky was grey and murky, and the water in the pond beside the house was as still as dead water without a ripple. But this time, for some reason, she found the sky seemed much brighter than before, and the color was bluer. Occasionally when the wind blew, it stirred up ripples on the surface of the pond beside the house.

Everything around seemed to have gained a bit of vitality.

Su Shu drank some water and thought, could it be because she was moving things into the space, or because she started using the space more frequently?

For the moment, she couldn’t pinpoint what exactly caused the space to burst with life. However, she could think of those two reasons. If that was the case, she planned to continue adding things inside and would frequently use it. If indeed that was the reason, then she was truly looking forward to seeing what this small world would eventually become.

She wondered what it would slowly turn into in the future.
