Chapter 69: Chapter 64: The Situation Is Unfavorable

Tang Yiyi ultimately followed them to the hospital. After all, she wasn’t the one who hit the person, and it was unreasonable for the guards to take her away for investigation, especially when her requests were reasonable. In front of everyone, the guards had no choice but to concede.

They had initially wanted to use the middle-aged couple to stir up trouble, but Tang Yiyi wouldn’t give them such an opportunity! She suggested that if the couple refused again, she would start a livestream on her personal device and let netizens judge for themselves. Whether it was the guards or the couple, they wisely shut their mouths.

Stopping Tang Yiyi from going to the hospital was obviously suspicious. Once she started livestreaming, capturing them on video, their reputation would be completely ruined! Even with benefits from their employer, they wouldn’t want to take such a shameful risk!

Especially the guards, who were less willing to let their disgraceful deeds be exposed. Compared to the middle-aged couple, they held higher status and position. Once the news of them blocking Tang Yiyi from going to the hospital came out, the hidden motives would be discovered, and their careers would be destroyed!

Tang Yiyi deliberately threatened them, without any real intention to go live. She had already instructed the system to record the video, to post the "truth" online when the time was right. Doing a grand livestream now wouldn’t capture anything useful; it would only provoke their hatred! 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

These people, having been bribed to do such shady things, were certainly not good people. If cornered, who knows how they might react?

Now pregnant, Tang Yiyi wasn’t strong and lacked a strong support system. It was unwise to offend these people directly. She could only take her time and use the system to covertly gather evidence to find a chance to turn things around!

Nevertheless, although the guards agreed to let Tang Yiyi go to the hospital, they required Sun Jian to go to the police station for temporary detention. Upon hearing this, Tang Yiyi realized they aimed to deal with the easier target, Sun Jian, forcing him to "write" a statement harmful to her!

Thus, before they parted, Tang Yiyi specifically instructed Sun Jian to "keep his wits about him, not to say a word that shouldn’t be said, and never admit to a crime that shouldn’t be acknowledged!" She wasn’t sure how much Sun Jian could adhere, but given the unfavorable situation, these were her best efforts.

On the way to the hospital, Tang Yiyi opened her shop’s page and posted a notice: "Due to unforeseen events, we are temporarily closed. Customers who have placed orders and do not wish to wait can apply for refunds." She quietly awaited the outcome.

She could process refunds now, but didn’t dare to do so. It wasn’t about being stingy with the Credit Points; she worried that with the aggressive opposition, who knew how many Credit Points would be needed at the hospital? A refund might leave her with insufficient Credit Points.

Four guards also boarded the ambulance. Seeing Tang Yiyi’s small actions, one of them coldly and dissatisfiedly questioned, "What are you doing?"

Tang Yiyi glared back at him impatiently, equally disgruntled: "What’s your attitude? Don’t forget, I’m not your prisoner! Whatever I do, as long as it doesn’t violate Safe City’s regulations, you have no right to interfere!"

Tang Yiyi never was the type to be easily bullied; this was not going to end well. The grudge between her and these guards was already formed, so she wasn’t worried about offending them! Behaving timidly like Sun Jian would only let them bully her without restraint!

Of course, she wouldn’t be so foolish as to push them to the breaking point. Having experienced being jailed and interrogated by guards, she knew precisely how to speak to leave them helpless.

Her words visibly angered the guard, his eyes almost burning with fury while glaring at her! Yet, he couldn’t refute her, as this was a simple accident case; the driver was just Tang Yiyi’s employee, not her, and her words were not wrong!

The furious guard was quickly restrained by another guard next to him. This guard had repeatedly exchanged glances with the middle-aged man and was clearly the leader among them. Compared to the impulsive guard, he was much more cautious, leaving no room for others to catch him out easily.

He wasn’t aware that Tang Yiyi had the system, a super cheat, secretly recording him exchanging looks with the middle-aged man! With direct evidence like this, posting the video online would utterly ruin his reputation!

Unaware of the truth, he was instead pleased with Tang Yiyi’s tactfulness. Seeing no video recording from her, he apologetically explained, "Sorry, my colleague was a bit impulsive—he’s angry that the victim was severely injured, not intentionally targeting you."

Tang Yiyi laughed mockingly, with a face full of "Do you think I’m an idiot?" expression. However, to avoid offending him too much, she explained, "I’m just a snack shop owner. Sun Jian was supposed to deliver food today, not expecting such an unfortunate event. Now my business can’t run, so to avoid keeping customers waiting, I posted the closure notice. Officer, this isn’t against the rules, right?"

The irritable guard heard her explanation and looked a bit sheepish, yet still suspiciously glared at Tang Yiyi, suspecting her of lying. He had seen her fiddling with her personal device and was worried she had started recording, more so that she might spread the incident online and spout nonsense, which had him so agitated.

He naturally couldn’t admit to such reasons, and unable to save face, he looked at Tang Yiyi with disdain, wishing to hit her fiercely!

Noticing his emotions, the lead guard subtly glared at him, warning him to stay calm, before politely smiling at Tang Yiyi and courteously saying, "That’s understandable. No one wishes such things to happen. Yet, since it’s already occurred, it’s best to think about how to resolve it properly. The old gentleman’s injuries can’t be faked, and the incident happened in an alley where motor vehicles are prohibited, so this matter is your fault, regardless."

Tang Yiyi didn’t speak, but her face became increasingly unsightly. Upon reaching the incident site, she had realized how disadvantageous the situation was for her! That location not only prohibited motor vehicles but lacked any surveillance cameras. If they continued to insist, the responsibility would fall entirely on Sun Jian!

And since Sun Jian was her delivery person, such an incident would severely damage the Tang Family’s reputation! (To be continued. If you like this work, please visit Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for it, your support is my biggest motivation. Mobile users, please read on m.qidian.com.)
