Chapter 54: Chapter 50: So Embarrassing!

Tang Yiyi noticed that Zhao Feng and the other two had already been drawn to the aroma of the braised dish from the kitchen, so she quietly ordered Milk Tea to go back to the room. Although Milk Tea had a temper, it was smarter than most other mutated young dogs! Moreover, having survived in a place like Garbage Mountain, its sensory perception was particularly acute! 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

It had long been aware of the greed from Zhao Feng and his companions; otherwise, it wouldn’t have been so wary of them. Now that Tang Yiyi wanted it to go back to the room, although it wasn’t too willing, it obediently listened and didn’t go against her wishes.

Unwillingly, it glared at Zhao Feng and his companions before quietly retracting its claws and slipping away unnoticed. Although Zhao Feng and the others were captivated by the aroma of the braised dish from the kitchen, they still retained some basic vigilance, and they noticed Milk Tea’s movement. However, they had already decided to forge a good relationship with Tang Yiyi, so they pretended not to notice.

Zhao Feng couldn’t resist anymore as he inhaled the delectable fragrance from the kitchen. Without waiting for Li Zheng to speak, he eagerly asked, "Miss Tang, what are you cooking in the kitchen? How is it sold? Could we have some?"

Tang Yiyi thought for a moment. The meat in the pot should have absorbed all the flavors from the braise, and eating it while it’s steaming hot would be quite a different experience compared to when it was frozen. Because of Milk Tea, she didn’t like Zhao Feng and the others very much and was quite wary of them. However, she couldn’t afford to make enemies of them right now, so she had to appease them for the time being.

Despite her reluctance, she smiled and asked, "How much do you need?"

Hearing this, Zhao Feng was overjoyed. He was actually afraid that Tang Yiyi might refuse to sell to them because of what just happened! He sneaked a glance at the kitchen and, without consulting Li Zheng and Wu Tian, eagerly said, "A pound of each will do!" As he spoke, he rubbed his belly. Although he had just eaten, he felt hungry again!

Li Zheng and Wu Tian raised their eyebrows but didn’t oppose Zhao Feng’s impromptu decision. Li Zheng had thought even further than Zhao Feng and directly opened the shop to place an order right in front of Tang Yiyi.

Tang Yiyi felt a bit less hostile seeing how straightforward he was. Without further ado, she glanced at the order, turned around, went to the kitchen, scooped out all the braised meat from the pot, weighed it, packed it separately, and then came out with the bag. The food was fresh from the pot, steaming hot with an intense aroma. The fragrance left Zhao Feng a bit dizzy. Before he could fully react, his body had already moved faster than his mind, snatching the bag from Tang Yiyi’s hand.

Wu Tian and Li Zheng were also tempted, but they didn’t expect Zhao Feng to be so embarrassing. Their faces instantly turned red, and they didn’t dare to look at Tang Yiyi. Tang Yiyi didn’t say anything; the more useless these three were, the easier it was for her to handle them. She smiled and didn’t take offense at Zhao Feng’s rudeness but instead asked, "Aren’t you going to try the taste?"

Zhao Feng had been itching to eat but felt embarrassed to do so in front of Tang Yiyi, thinking it would be too disgraceful. As for Sun Jian, he didn’t even consider him. With Tang Yiyi’s encouragement, he immediately smiled and replied, "Then I’ll have a taste first." Before the words were fully out of his mouth, he had already deftly opened the bag and grabbed a piece of meat to shove into his mouth.

The piece he grabbed happened to be a braised pig ear, still steaming from being freshly cooked. The skin was tender, encasing the white crunchy cartilage. The flavor of the braising sauce had seeped perfectly into the skin. A gentle bite revealed the rich, tender flavor of the outer skin and the subtly flavored crispy texture of the inner cartilage, making it exceptionally chewy.

Chewing, Zhao Feng couldn’t help but exclaim, "Mmm, this ear tastes great! A little wine to go with it would be perfect!"

Standing behind him, Wu Tian, tempted by the aroma, couldn’t help his eyes from turning green but felt Zhao Feng was being too embarrassing. He quickly nudged him with an elbow to remind him to restrain himself and also to prevent him from eating all the food.

Li Zheng found it embarrassing too. Usually reserved, he silently commended Wu Tian’s discreet action with a look of approval, then politely bid farewell to Tang Yiyi. As they left, he subtly snatched the food bag from Zhao Feng’s hands.

Zhao Feng still wanted to eat but had to comply, given that their squad had always been led by Li Zheng. Moreover, considering this was Sun Family territory, he didn’t want to embarrass himself further, so he obediently followed Li Zheng out in silence.

Once the three left, Tang Yiyi finally breathed a sigh of relief. Sun Jian carefully closed the door, turned to meet Tang Yiyi’s gaze, and his face was filled with guilt as he dejectedly said, "Yiyi, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault! If I hadn’t let them in, Milk Tea wouldn’t have been discovered by them!"

Though overly cautious and timid, he was well aware of how precious the mutated young beast was. When Tang Yiyi entered the city, she deliberately made Milk Tea dirty and kept it on the garbage truck, ensuring it remained unnoticed. Now that Milk Tea’s existence had been discovered by Zhao Feng and his companions, if they harbored greed, Tang Yiyi would be in extreme danger as Milk Tea’s owner!

Truly remorseful, he lamented that he would never have let them in if he’d known they’d be so rude and discover Milk Tea.

Tang Yiyi glanced at him deeply but didn’t blame him. Since it had already happened, getting angry with Sun Jian was pointless. Besides, it wasn’t entirely his fault. Not knowing how to comfort others, she calmly remarked, "Alright, what’s done is done, there’s no use lamenting. Just be more careful in the future. You don’t need to worry about those three; I’ll keep an eye on them."

Sun Jian keenly sensed that Tang Yiyi had a way to monitor the three, which reassured him. Without asking how, he promised, "I’ll definitely be careful next time!" He said these words with an unusual seriousness, almost like making a vow.

Tang Yiyi didn’t pay it much mind and got rid of Sun Jian before proceeding to check the shop. Her shop had just started, with only promotional posts on various forums, so it lacked reputation. The current orders seemed to be placed with a tentative mindset.

However, Tang Yiyi was not discouraged. It wasn’t easy to do business these days, but as long as there were orders, it was a positive sign. She sold food, and once customers tasted it, they’d surely know the quality of her products, and future orders would follow.

With not many orders currently, she didn’t need to make much preparation.

After reviewing the orders, Tang Yiyi silently calculated, headed to the kitchen to handle the remaining ingredients, and then stopped working. Just as she shut the kitchen door and was about to retire to her bedroom for a rest, Sun Jian suddenly emerged from his room, brimming with excitement, and exclaimed upon seeing her, "Yiyi! Come quickly! Someone posted on the Food Empire forum praising our store’s food!"
