Apocalypse Foodie System: Watch Her Cook!-Chapter 38 - 34: The Birth of a Foodie
Because of the system’s words, Tang Yiyi was reminded of the great upheaval of the post-apocalyptic century. Her feelings turned extremely complicated. Unable to resist, she asked the system again to confirm that unless there were an accident, no one or any other system from an Advanced Civilization would come to this planet. Tang Yiyi wasn’t sure whether to feel relieved or disappointed.
But soon, she gathered her emotions and chose to load the recipe without hesitation. Seeing her Points instantly increase, Tang Yiyi suddenly felt better and even cut out half of the remaining pigskin jelly, pouring sauce over it, and said to the system, "You can absorb them all now. Also, it’s better if you inform me before absorbing next time, so I can be prepared."
The system remained silent, but in an instant absorbed the pigskin jelly made by Tang Yiyi, leaving only four clean, seemingly washed empty bowls. Immediately after, Tang Yiyi noticed her Points increased again, reaching 7000.
She raised her eyebrows, feeling pleased, but then was startled by Milk Tea’s dissatisfied voice in her mind, "Food! Food! Give me food! You promised me!" Tang Yiyi helplessly patted her forehead, realizing she had forgotten about the little rascal, Milk Tea! However... although the Mutant Beast had an extraordinarily good digestive ability, Milk Tea was still a little puppy; could it even eat pigskin jelly?
Tang Yiyi hesitated as she opened the door, and as the door opened, Milk Tea, who had been waiting impatiently, pounced on her, clinging to her leg, refusing to let go, with its big, watery blue eyes scanning the whole kitchen. Seeing this, Tang Yiyi was relieved that she had left the pigskin jelly in the fridge; otherwise, it would have been ruined by this little rascal!
She directly walked outside, intending to fetch Milk Tea’s food bowl. Milk Tea, thinking she was about to run, clung tightly to her, refusing to let go, glaring fiercely at Tang Yiyi, demanding, "Where are you going? Give me the food! Don’t you dare go back on your word!" Fearing that Tang Yiyi might renege, it deliberately showed its black claws on her trousers, threatening to tear them if she dared to break her promise.
Tang Yiyi twitched her lips, almost wishing to slap this rascal! The clothes she wore were newly bought from the supermarket. Although not expensive, they cost quite a few Credit Points and couldn’t be ruined by Milk Tea! Unfortunately, Milk Tea was just a little puppy, a stray with a bad temper, untrained. No matter what Tang Yiyi said, it was clear it wouldn’t cooperate!
Tang Yiyi had no choice but to call for Sun Jian to bring Milk Tea’s food bowl into the kitchen. While she stayed in the kitchen, Milk Tea didn’t threaten to tear her trousers anymore. Still, it wasn’t about to let her off and directly guarded the kitchen. When Sun Jian brought its food bowl into the kitchen, Milk Tea’s eyes suddenly lit up, looking at Tang Yiyi expectantly. Upon seeing the food bowl, Milk Tea understood Tang Yiyi was about to fulfill her promise to give it something tasty!
It leapt and snatched the food bowl from Sun Jian’s hands with delight, then happily ran to Tang Yiyi’s feet, nudging her with its paw, signaling she could start feeding. Seeing that it was unwilling to wait even a moment longer, Tang Yiyi had no choice but to take out some pigskin jelly from the fridge, mix it with the sauce, and pour it into Milk Tea’s food bowl.
Unsure if Milk Tea could digest it, she made the mildest of four flavors. Fortunately, because the pigskin jelly was frozen, it wasn’t too fragrant, so when Tang Yiyi took it out of the fridge, Milk Tea kept some restraint, not directly snatching it but staring with big, watery blue eyes.
When she blended the flavors and poured them into the food bowl, Milk Tea suddenly came to its senses, ran to the bowl, and carefully tried the taste with its pink tongue. Suddenly its eyes lit up, excitedly barking, then looked up warily at Tang Yiyi, then gave several warning barks at Sun Jian, who was curiously peeking into the kitchen, before dragging the bowl into a corner of the kitchen, back facing Tang Yiyi and Sun Jian as it gobbled down its food.
Seeing its stingy, food-guarding behavior left Tang Yiyi speechless. Seeing Sun Jian looking quite curious, she told him, "I’ll start preparing dinner; you can eat in half an hour."
Sun Jian didn’t dare object. Initially, he was just surprised Tang Yiyi could cook, and seeing Milk Tea’s reaction, the taste should be quite good, making him somewhat hungry. He smiled politely at Tang Yiyi, then after thinking for a moment, added courteously, "You get busy, don’t worry about me; I can wait no matter how long it takes."
"Oh," Tang Yiyi replied indifferently, showing no gratitude, "Go wait somewhere else. I don’t like being watched while cooking."
Understanding her concern, Sun Jian quickly left, making sure to close the kitchen door for Tang Yiyi before he left. Looking at the closed kitchen door, he didn’t go far, just sat on the living room sofa, daydreaming, feeling he must have really hit the jackpot this time.
Tang Yiyi wasn’t concerned about what Sun Jian was up to. After the door closed, she washed the rice and started cooking. She took out the purchased beef, cutting it into pieces, then scalded it in boiling water. Milk Tea, having finished the pigskin jelly, was thinking how to get more food from Tang Yiyi when it suddenly smelled the beef’s gaminess. It sniffed around, breathing in deeply, then ran to Tang Yiyi’s side, clasping her leg, shouting, "Give me, give me! I want meat!"
As soon as the water came to a boil, the beef’s gaminess filled the air, not a pleasant smell. However, Milk Tea wasn’t bothered by this, having always roamed near Garbage Mountain, it wasn’t picky at all about food, enjoying even the foul-smelling Mutant Rat meat. The specially raised beef in the safe zone was much better compared to the Mutant Beast. Though the beef had a gaminess with it, it paled in comparison to the Mutant Beast.
Afraid it might disturb her, Tang Yiyi frowned and advised, "Go out first! It’s not tasty yet. Wait until I finish, and I promise it’ll taste a hundred times better than this!"
Milk Tea looked at Tang Yiyi with suspicion but recalled the delicious pigskin jelly it had just eaten and thought perhaps it should trust Tang Yiyi a bit. But as giving up the meat right in front of it, it was reluctant. When it roamed before, often it would go hungry after a meal, so whenever there was food, it wanted to eat until it was stuffed. Tang Yiyi had to coax it out with great effort.
With Milk Tea not causing trouble, Tang Yiyi cooked much faster. The beef, after being blanched, was ready for stir-frying. As the spices were added to hot oil, a rich aroma arose, permeating the air dominantly. As the beef hit the pan, it sizzled, and with continual stir-fry, the unique beef fragrance grew stronger, blending seamlessly with the spices, enticing Tang Yiyi to take a deep breath, filling her with joy.
Outside the kitchen, Sun Jian, at some point, had come to stand outside the kitchen door with Milk Tea, sniffing the aroma wafting through the door crack eagerly, almost wanting to break through the door!
