Chapter 168: Singular Moments (3)
When Atlas heard these words, he gently touched Ali’s shoulder and said, "Ali, I will always help you as much as I can."
With that, the memory ended, and as if it were Cain’s turn, Cain targeted another monster. The monster seemed to be drawn into the darkness. A large passageway opened up beneath it and began to swallow it, and in a short time, the monster itself had disappeared.
All that remained was a piece of its arm. It was a really weird scene to see.
Still, no memory had emerged. This was enough to tell everyone that Atlas had very few memories of them, that he had not known any of them directly in his previous life, but had only heard about them from others.
The same thing happened when Bellatrix attacked, and no memories surfaced. Five monsters had already died.
When Juliet killed the sixth, a memory really did begin to sparkle and form in the realm. In a short time, a place that Cordelia and Juliet knew very well had formed before their eyes:
"The Great Elf Palace," Juliet said suddenly.
All eyes turned to a single area. In the main hall of the Great Elf Palace, the throne room, hundreds of elf nobles stood around. Each one was tired and wounded but still held their heads high, ready to do anything for their kingdom.
At the bottom of the stairs leading to the throne, Atlas stood with an expression more weary than any of the elves, his gaze fixed on the throne.
At the top of the stairs leading to the throne stood Thalia Bijoux, the High Elf Queen herself. There was no one beside her. This alone was enough to explain what it meant for Thalia’s side to be empty while every noble was present.
She was the person Juliet loved in this world the most.
Unfortunately, the royal family had come to an end, and the only one left of that bloodline was Thalia herself.
Thalia stood with her head bowed. She was hurt, sad, and angry, but most importantly, there was still hope in the queen’s eyes.
"Atlas. It’s so good to see you again. Forgive me, I’m not the same person I was when I first met you," Thalia said suddenly.
Atlas shook his head and said, "Believe me, I understand, Your Majesty."
Thalia smiled through her hurt and then said, "Your Majesty? Haha... What use is a meaningless title to someone who couldn’t protect their own children, who sent them to their deaths without knowing it?"
When Atlas heard these words, he frowned and struggled to hold back his tears.
"My lady..." said Atlas, and then, "I have brought you something, along with a letter."
With that, Atlas immediately reached for the magic bag at his waist and took out a bow and a letter in an envelope.
Atlas, who had gently climbed the wooden stairs, handed the bow and letter to Thalia, then stepped back down the stairs and began to wait.
"I received this letter from Abraham Endrick, one of the academy professors who is still alive. According to him, Lady Juliet Simone gave them to Abraham to give you her bow, the only weapon Artemis has bestowed upon the entire world throughout history, and a letter. When Professor Abraham heard that I was coming here, he gave me these items, trusting me as the only person he could trust. They belong to you," Atlas said suddenly.
Juliet couldn’t help but smile when she heard those words. Even though she was thousands of years older than Thalia, Juliet didn’t even realise how much she loved her.
According to Juliet, if she ever found herself on her deathbed, she planned to burn the bow that Artemis had given her so that it would not fall into the hands of evil people.
"This..." Thalia had said, letting go of the bow and clutching the envelope tightly.
Thalia’s hands were visibly trembling. Juliet’s heart was truly breaking at the sight.
"When Juliet opened the envelope and read the letter inside, she began to cry. As the tears fell on the letter, every noble in the hall could feel their hearts shattering justJulietet’s had.
"Aunt..." Juliet said suddenly, clutching the letter to herself. It would be accurate to say that the Elf Queen was weeping uncontrollably.
Atlas had only entered the Great Elf Palace twice in his previous life. The first time was to be thanked for his help, and the second was when Juliet brought the bow that would bring Thalia to him.
Still, it was only natural that he couldn’t even imagine that the letter Juliet had sent was more important than the bow.
Atlas looked at Thalia. A single thought crossed his mind, loud enough for everyone to hear:
"Lady Juliet... What kind of person were you? Were you a lover? Or perhaps a strict aunt? Did you like to smile? Or did the royal family adore you? Were you tall? What were your eyes like? How much did you cling to hope? What kind of person were you? If you were perfect enough to put Lady Thalia in this state... how much I would have wanted to see you, but..."
When Atlas’s thoughts were shared with everyone, the moment began to fade, and the realm returned to itself.
Six monsters had been killed, and the last one suddenly appeared before Cordelia.
Cordelia grabbed the monster by the arm without any difficulty and began to send her power into her hand. In just a few seconds, Cordelia had thrust her hand into the monster’s throat and killed it there.
Still, no memory emerged. Everything seemed to be over. Still, nothing had changed. Until...
"ATLAS!" Cassandra suddenly shouted. The Ancient Woman pointed to where Atlas was.
Atlas’s body began to slowly disappear. Cordelia immediately flew from where she was and tried to grab Atlas, but her hand passed through his body.
At that moment, everyone realised it was an illusion.
They had no idea what to do next.
