Anti Netotare Villian-Chapter 46: Shameless!
Chapter 46: Shameless!
"What do you mean by ’great use,’ Lord?" Roosevelt inquired, his gaze fixed on Lisa, who was seated directly opposite Riech.
"Hold your horses," Riech replied, a hint of mystery in his voice. "I have something far more intriguing to share with you."
Roosevelt raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued. "Something more interesting, you say? Well, Lord, you have certainly captured the attention of this humble servant," he responded, absently stroking his stubble.
Riech’s eyes narrowed, and he shot a piercing glare at Lisa, silently commanding her to vacate her seat. "Be intrigued, but first, take a seat. I have a few questions to ask, and I prefer to do so without distractions."
With a swift, almost imperceptible movement, Lisa rose from her chair and positioned herself beside Riech, her movements fluid and obedient.
"There’s no need for that," Roosevelt remarked, his tone dismissive as he settled into the wooden chair. "We have plenty of seating."
"People need to know their place," he continued, his voice taking on a harder edge. "If they don’t, they might just end up causing more trouble than they’re worth. Isn’t that right, Mr. Strategist?" He punctuated his words by clicking the sole of his boot against the wooden floor, the sound echoing ominously in the quiet room.
Roosevelt chuckled, his expression stiffening as he heard his title. "Hohoho, that’s certainly true, my lord."
Riech’s face darkened as he shifted in his seat, his demeanor growing more serious. "Now that we’re both seated, let me ask you—who is currently overseeing the Darkwood Forest?"
Roosevelt felt a flicker of unease as he clasped his hands on the table, a gesture that betrayed his growing concern. "Has something happened, Lord?"
"Answer my question first," Riech insisted, his voice unyielding.
"Squads 11 and 12 are stationed in the Darkwood Forest," Roosevelt replied, his voice steady despite the turmoil within him.
Roosevelt’s anxiety spiked as he observed Riech’s expression. It was the first time in his life that he had felt such unease in the presence of the man he had always regarded as a tyrant. Riech’s demeanor was not one of anger or wrath, but something far more unsettling—a cold, calculating intensity that made Roosevelt’s blood run cold.
’Am I scared?’ Roosevelt thought to himself, baffled by his own reaction. He had never imagined a moment when he would feel threatened by Riech, yet here he was, staring into the abyss of uncertainty.
"Summon both squads to report immediately," Riech ordered, his voice leaving no room for argument.
"Yes, my lord," Roosevelt replied, not daring to defy the command. He gestured to the man in black, who disappeared in an instant, his movements as swift and silent as the wind.
Lisa’s mind raced, her thoughts a jumbled mess as she tried to make sense of the situation. ’What is happening? Why did he bring me here?’ she wondered, her confusion growing with each passing moment.
"Has something happened, my lord?" Roosevelt asked, his voice tinged with concern.
"Let them arrive first," Riech replied, his expression inscrutable.
Roosevelt attempted to read Riech’s face, but the man’s poker-like demeanor revealed nothing. This was a side of the tyrant he had never seen before—cold, calculating, and utterly unreadable. It was not the wrath or tyranny that frightened Roosevelt, but the unknown intent behind Riech’s actions.
"As you wish, my lord," Roosevelt murmured, resigning himself to the wait.
There was nothing more he could do but sit and wait for the squads to arrive.
’Those bastards... I’ll kill them.’ His fists clenched as he seethed in silence. ’If I hadn’t discovered Lisa and her plan, I’d be as good as dead the moment they attacked.’
He could see it—the carnage, the bodies floating in a lake of blood. A massacre before the marquess and his pack of pigs even had their turn. The sheer thought of it made his blood boil.
For the first time since arriving in this world, he truly felt anger.
-------
Silence hung over the trio, each lost in their thoughts, and both of them trying to decipher the enigma that was Riech’s mind. The air was thick with unspoken questions and a palpable tension that seemed to grow with each passing moment.
After approximately fifteen minutes, both squads arrived, clad in camouflage that blended seamlessly with the surroundings. Their presence was announced with a disciplined unison:
"Squad 11 reporting, sir."
"Squad 12 reporting, sir."
The leaders of each squad bowed deeply, a gesture of respect and submission to both Riech and Roosevelt.
"Straighten up," Riech commanded, his voice sharp and impatient. "I don’t have the time for formalities."
The squad leaders immediately stood at attention, their postures rigid and proud, awaiting further instruction.
"Is there a particular reason we were summoned, Lord?" the leader of Squad 11 inquired, his voice steady despite the uncertainty in the air.
The members of both squads stood side by side, their uniforms and gear making them nearly indistinguishable from one another, except for the bracelets that bore their squad numbers.
"Indeed, there is," Riech replied, his tone nonchalant yet laced with an undercurrent of authority. "I have a few questions that require your immediate attention." freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"We are at your service, Lord," the leaders responded in unison, bowing once more.
Riech tapped his fingers against the table, a rhythmic sound that seemed to punctuate his growing impatience. "I won’t waste any more time. Have either of your squads noticed anything unusual in the forest?"
The leader of Squad 11 responded promptly, "No, sir. Everything has been peaceful since our deployment. We’ve observed no irregularities."
"The same goes for us," the leader of Squad 12 added. "Aside from an increase in merchant activity from neighboring regions, there’s been nothing out of the ordinary in the Darkwood Forest."
Riech’s eyes narrowed as he scrutinized their responses, searching for any hint of deception. "Are you certain of that?"
"Yes, Master," both leaders affirmed, their voices steady and confident. "Our surveillance has been thorough. There’s been nothing unusual."
Riech’s scepticism grew. He was convinced that the squads had been negligent in their duties. If they had been diligent, they would have noticed the major signs of Lisa and Kotaru’s activity because they were pretty noisy with it according to Lisa. But these guys were simply negligent and slacked off if by luck Riech didn’t discover their base than there would have been bloodbath in near future.
"And what of the wildlife?" Riech pressed. "Have you noticed any unusual behavior among the animals, or the appearance of creatures not native to this region?"
"No, Master," the squad leaders replied in unison. "Everything has been normal."
’Come on, you fucks,’ Riech thought to himself, his frustration mounting. ’Give me a reason to spare you.’
Despite his growing irritation, Riech offered them one last chance, hoping against hope that one of them might admit to their negligence and earn a measure of mercy. But their obstinacy was unyielding, fueling his desire to chop of their heads.
"Are you absolutely certain?" Riech asked again, his voice taking on a more serious tone.
"Yes, Master," they replied, their voices tinged with a hint of hesitation.
"Are you sure you’re not forgetting something?" Riech persisted, his patience wearing thin.
"No, Master," they insisted, their voices steady despite the tension in the room. "Everything has been peaceful."
Riech’s eyes flashed with anger as he unsheathed his sword in a swift, fluid motion. "Are you sure you’re not lying to me?" he demanded, his voice now a low growl.
"N-no, Master," they stammered, their voices betraying their fear.
’Argh, you lying bastards!’
