An Extra's POV: My Three Fiancees Hate Me-Chapter 33: Second Floor
Chapter 33: Second Floor
But he had heavily underestimated the regeneration of an Orc. As he got within range, the Orc had already regenerated half of its injuries, and it could move its arms.
The Orc swung its mace at Riven. It whistled through the air and headed for his chest. Riven had to react fast; he used his sword to block the attack.
He blocked it, but the force immediately sent him flying to a wall. His sword fell out of his hands, and he slammed his back on the wall, passing out for a second before coming back.
He slowly looked up, pushing through the pain, and he saw that the Orc was now almost fully regenerated and it was charging at him.
"I shouldn’t have bitten more than I can chew, but I don’t have a choice now," Riven thought. He looked at his sword, and it was too far for him to get to; the Orc was already headed for him.
"I guess there’s no use hiding it if I’m going to die." He stretched out his hand, and blood seeped out of his body. It flowed, twisting and turning until it formed into a scythe just before the Orc swung its mace.
With one hand on the scythe, and with another, he used blood manipulation to shoot a streak of blood to the Orc’s face, confusing the Orc for an instant and giving him the time to dodge the mace.
He rolled out of the way, got on his feet, and with one final push, he went for the tusk. He slashed at full force. The scythe hit the tusk and cleanly cut it off.
The tusk spun through the air and landed on the ground. The cave went ghost quiet for a few seconds, and then came a roar of pain. The Orc let out its cry, shaking the walls of the cave. This pain was somehow greater than the pain of getting its entire chest blown out with explosions earlier.
With the Orc in pain, Riven knew that this was the final stretch. He immediately ran to his sword and picked it up. With both scythe and sword in each hand, he charged at the Orc, leaping into the air and slashing down at the neck.
Both weapons got hold of the neck and cleanly cut off the head of the Orc. The head flew off the body, its look of pain still evident on its face. It rolled through the air and landed on the ground. The body fell to the ground as well and immediately decomposed, as well as the head.
All that it left was a crystal slightly bigger than the ones he had been getting before. He was a bit sad that the Orc didn’t drop any special item, but at the end of the day, surviving was what was important.
[You have leveled up, 4 free stat points, item box]
A level-up notification came out of nowhere. He was shocked to see it. He didn’t know how the leveling up worked because there was no exp, but he was starting to see a pattern now. Though he wasn’t sure of the pattern, he would have to watch and see when his next level-up would be.
He walked toward the Orc crystal. He was the one that had killed the thing, so it was evident that it was his own. He didn’t care what this party wanted to say—he owned it.
Luckily for him, they didn’t utter a word even as he picked it up. Rather, the leader walked up to Riven and bowed his head.
"My name is Raze, leader of this party. You have my thanks for saving us. The Orc had taken us unaware and already dealt damage to us before the fight could even begin. Had it not been for you, we would have been in a difficult situation," Raze said.
"Why the hell is he explaining to me? Is he trying to stop me from thinking that they are weak?" Riven thought, but he didn’t allow his feelings to show. He simply nodded and responded, "You guys helped a lot as well. I couldn’t have done it without you." He spoke in a casual tone, yet with a little bit of formality to keep distance.
A pathway opened inside the cave. Riven nodded his farewell to the party and headed that way. He wanted to get to the second floor. He had already spent enough time here.
Raze watched as Riven left. He hadn’t even gotten Riven’s name, but he had a feeling that he would see more of the kid. freewebnøvel.com
"That kid is pretty strong, to be able to fight the Orc the way he did," Terra said. She stood beside Raze and looked at the pathway Riven took.
"Some people are born prodigies. He might be one of them. They have bright futures ahead of them—academies and good lives—unlike us who fight for survival at the bottom of the barrel," Raze said, sounding pained as he spoke.
Riven, on the other hand, walked for a while and finally came to the stairs that led to the second floor, but these stairs were definitely not the ordinary day stairs.
There was a massive hole in the ground, leading to the second floor. It was a hole so big an average person couldn’t jump across. Along the walls of this hole were stone stairs that led down in a spiral. But it had some small and large gaps at some points.
But the people that came through first had already placed torches all the way down, allowing others to see the path before they head down.
Riven saw other adventurers coming from different paths as well, all headed for the stairs, and descending as soon as they got there.
Following them, he started walking down the stairs. A man stood at the top of the stairs—the man that Riven had ignored back in the guild. The man watched Riven for a while before deciding to head down the stairs himself.
