Chapter 82: Three days

Three days passed in the blink of an eye within the Nether Abyss Mainland Sect.

Nothing major happened after the outer sect tournament, but the discussions had not settled. Many disciples were still talking about it, their attention focused on one name more than any other—Bai Shaoyue and how easily she had been defeated.

To most, it had been too easy, almost unbelievable. Some questioned it, while others tried to justify it. They argued that the masked disciple had used a Heaven Grade technique—something that did not belong to the sect’s original inheritance. As an elemental technique, it was naturally difficult to counter, especially under such conditions.

Even so, the result did not change. The masked disciple secured second place in the tournament and gained the opportunity to be selected by an inner sect elder, a Golden Core cultivator who cultivated the water path.

In Nether Abyss Mainland Sect, there aren’t many inner sect elders—only twelve in total. Even so, this could be considered quite high compared to mid-grade sects, where most only had one or two, and at most three elders who had reached the Golden Core realm. Many of those sects did not even have a single Rank 4 cultivator.

The winner of the outer sect tournament surprised everyone—it was actually Bai Shaoge.

Not many people knew much about him. He had always remained standing beside Bai Shaoyue, whose beauty and strength at the ninth stage of Qi Condensation drew most of the attention, leaving little for Bai Shaoge, who was only at the eighth stage.

He and the masked disciple were supposed to face each other in the final. Many were looking forward to that match and wanted to see who would become the true winner of this year’s tournament.

But before they could even exchange a single move, the masked disciple suddenly admitted defeat, catching everyone off guard and leaving the entire crowd disappointed.

Many people mocked him, calling him a coward, but he didn’t even spare them a glance. Instead, he stepped forward and received his reward from the Sect Leader’s personal disciple, Hei Yuling. In front of everyone, she handed Bai Shaoge a Heaven Grade sword.

The moment the sword appeared, the eyes of the outer sect disciples filled with greed. Such a reward was far too generous. Many clan and family members were immediately tempted to buy it from him. In the market, it could easily be sold for ten thousand low-grade spirit stones, and that was only the minimum price.

The reason was simple—this sword had been given by Hei Yuling herself, a deciple of Rank 4 cultivator. Her will imprint was left on it, making it even more valuable. Many wealthy families and cultivators would pay almost any price to obtain it, just to strengthen their relationship with the sect. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

Unfortunately, Bai Shaoge had no interest in selling it. Even when the offers rose to nearly double its value, he still refused every one of them, drawing many admiring gazes from female disciples and even a few elders.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the outer sect, inside one of the scheduled residences, a stage Three female disciple was trying her best to wake her brother from a deep sleep.

"What happened to brother Ye Qingfeng..." she thought, feeling a bit scared as she looked at him lying there without moving for the past three days.

"I’ve tried everything to figure out what’s wrong. Even after giving him multiple pills from the Medicine Hall, there’s still no reaction... his body hasn’t changed at all."

She sat down beside him and gently ruffled his hair. "He’s like a living corpse..."

"I also don’t have any more money to go to the Alchemy Hall and buy better pills, or find someone who can check on him properly. I already sold the pills I received from senior brother Xuanyan."

"It’s not like I can just go back to the Alchemy Hall and ask him for more. I haven’t even given anything in return for the previous reward..."

She lowered her head slightly. "But I can’t just sit here and do nothing. I have to go and ask him. Even if brother Xuanyan refuses... at least I can find out what happened to brother Qingfeng."

Without wasting any more time, she stepped out of her senior brother Ye Qingfeng’s residence and headed toward the Alchemy Hall. It didn’t take long before she arrived.

It was her first time seeing such a chaotic place. At first glance, it felt no different from a mortal marketplace. Everything was in different order.

She took a deep breath and walked toward a section that looked like a task hall.

Seeing that the cultivator inside was a woman, and that no one else was waiting, she felt a bit more at ease and stepped forward.

"Senior sister, i have request could you please tell me where I can find alchemist name Xuanyan?"

"Xuanyan?" she frowned slightly. "I don’t recognize that name. Can you tell me a bit more about him? I’ll check and let you know."

I really don’t know much about senior brother Xuanyan... Ye Qingyue thought. I don’t even know his full name. But he’s a once-in-a-generation talent—he must be famous, right?

"This junior doesn’t know senior brother Xuanyan’s full name, but he’s really a genius in alchemy. I’m sure you’ve heard of him. His cultivation is only at the fourth stage."

Fourth stage of Qi Condensation... and a genius in alchemy? I don’t think I know anyone like that here... she thought. But why does it sound familiar...

"Oh... right, I remember now," she said. "There have been some rumors that Elder Mei Lingyao took in a personal disciple from the outer sect, someone with very low cultivation."

She looked at her again. "Junior sister, are you talking about him? There’s a good chance those rumors are true, though I’m not completely sure."

"If you want, I can go and check for you. But there will be a fee—three low-grade spirit stones."

Ye Qingyue wasn’t sure whether senior brother Xuanyan was truly an elder’s disciple, but she had no choice but to continue. She finally nodded and placed three spirit stones from her pouch onto the counter.
