America 1982-Chapter 91 - 9: Recruitment Night_4
"This is my roommate Jason, I showed him around with Eric," Tommy introduced Jason to the other person.
"Don’t worry, I’ll take your roommate—who looks like he’s dressed for a high school prom—around," the other person patted Jason’s shoulder. "Let’s go, newbie, I’ll show you SSD’s hall of honor."
Tommy followed the given address, ascending the spiral staircase to the second floor, turning left down the corridor, and approached the second door, where he knocked. A voice from inside called, "Come in."
When Tommy entered, the place looked like a single dormitory; Eric was sitting at his desk working on the computer. Seeing Tommy, he seemed surprised, "You’re early, Tommy Hawk, an A-level follower. Usually, they intentionally delay their arrival, not following the tutor for a tour, preferring to attend alone. I thought you wouldn’t show up or that you’d arrive later, so I was just finishing an assignment."
"Then should I go back to sleep for a while and come back?" Tommy stood at the doorway, smiling at him.
Eric stopped what he was doing, got up to stretch his neck, walked over to his fridge, and opened it. He took out two cans of beer and tossed one to Tommy, "Of course not, but you’d better tell me about that job you bragged about. You never mentioned that the summer camp you were earning money at got you acquainted with several big shots as well as Stephen Binns—that guy is undeniably going to be the Fraternity’s financial manager for the next four years."
"That guy was my chancellor of the exchequer when I was forming my cabinet," Tommy said with a laugh, closing the door behind him and lighting a cigarette.
Eric took a swig of beer and said, "I specifically looked up your summer camp videos, and it turns out my A-level attention wasn’t wasted. So, do you have any questions about SSD that need answering?"
"No," Tommy said frankly.
"Good," Eric smiled and handed Tommy an invitation, "Keep it safe. Now you can go back and get some rest because tomorrow at eight in the evening, Sparta, this house, will host the SSD newcomer induction party."
"According to the A-level followers’ buy-one-get-one-free tradition, as you know, if you want me to help with the party, I’ll need a hand, so my roommate..." Tommy took the invitation and continued. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Seemingly anticipating Tommy’s question, Eric said with a laugh, "Your Fraternity friends have spilled quite a few recruitment secrets to you, Tommy, even the newcomers’ buy-one-get-one-free benefit? Alright, if your ’roommate son’ doesn’t do anything stupid tonight, and if after we get drunk, he can still remember his name the next day, he should also get an invitation."
"Great, you’ve spared me from the thought of taking off my coat, Eric," Tommy smiled back. "Thanks, I won’t disappoint you."
Eric took a sip of beer and looked at Tommy, "So if I weren’t offering the buy-one-get-one-free, were you damn ready to strip and sleep with me? Are you a queer?"
"Close enough." Tommy took off his baseball jacket, turned around, and showed Eric the design on the back of his T-shirt, "If you refuse, I’ll use this greeting on you and then run off to the Fraternity to seek refuge. But now, I’m ready to use this design to greet the other fraternities on behalf of SSD during the rookie games."
"Well said, you should use that design to greet those guys."
