America 1982-Chapter 70 - 25: Farce
Attorney Andi Nielsen was right; people in the United States really enjoy watching teen comedies. So when "Buccaneer Caribbean" premiered on the Nick Kids’ channel during primetime at eight o’clock, it immediately garnered a large audience.
A day’s worth of material was edited down to just forty minutes of runtime, which made the jokes even more concentrated. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Dennis, leading a squad of police officers to capture wild boars in his custom-made uniform, Catherine, who, at the drop of a hat, might get overly emotional and try to lead the military to trample London, and the fierce-looking prison warden Frank, who casually threatened to have his unlucky prisoners wash his clothes, easily made a lasting impression on the audience.
But the most eye-catching character in the first episode was none other than the Minister of Industry, Pam Marvell.
Saint Vincent had a small hydroelectric power station built during the British colonial era. It produced electricity by utilizing water turbines, and at its peak flow, it could generate 120 kilowatt-hours per hour. Although this might not seem like much, due to the lack of electrical equipment in Saint Vincent and since most homes still used old-fashioned oil lamps for lighting, it was enough to meet the nation’s power needs. After all, the main electricity supply was for government buildings, schools, hospitals, and a few commercial facilities.
However, two circuit breakers at the power station broke down due to age and damage, causing power outages. Since these breakers were of an older model, they had to be purchased from the United State America or England, which required time. This meant that until the breakers were replaced, all of Saint Vincent, barring the sugar mill with its own power supply, was faced with a blackout.
This situation was very uncomfortable for the American high school students who made up the cabinet, who held meetings to discuss how to persuade the sugar mill to lend support. They pondered what incentives to offer so that the sugar mill with its independent power supply could help out.
Then, American viewers watched as the kids in the cabinet were discussing, Minister of Industry Pam Marvell walked out of the government building, gathered her tools, and, along with a few assistants, headed straight for the sugar mill.
Soon, a concealed and cleverly disguised power line was sneakily drawn by Pam from the sugar mill’s power generator back to Kingston, bringing the cool breeze of air conditioning back to the government building.
But the boom didn’t last, for the line set up in the morning was discovered that very afternoon by the sugar mill’s engineer, who also happened to be Pam’s girlfriend Carly’s father. He followed the line with a bunch of workers to the minister’s door, and on behalf of the sugar mill, he harshly scolded Minister of Industry Pam for stealing electricity, pointing out that this act was not only wrong but also very unsafe.
The high school student cabinet, scolded by an adult, was very dissatisfied. They planned to show the sugar mill a lesson.
"We’ll look into any possible tax issues they might have," said Interior Minister David Schafer to the camera with a menacing tone at the end of the first episode, "If we find anything, we’ll fine them harshly and use the money to buy a new generator. Let those self-important adults understand that they are speaking with the rulers of this nation and they must learn to respect that word."
Behind him stood the assembled team of the Minister of Taxation, followed by Dennis leading the police, and Frank with his so-called special forces.
However, despite the ferocity of his speech, the combination of David Schafer’s chubby face and round glasses only left the audience with laughter.
...
Saint Vincent, Kingston.
As captured by the camera, the Minister of Taxation, Chris, with his team in tow, tried to keep a serious face as he entered the doors of the Boulton Sugar Industry mill.
When the mill management heard that these high school students were tax officials here to scrutinize their tax affairs, they could barely contain their laughter. They treated the teens to some ice cream, something unheard of for the local kids, and casually asked why they had come to check their taxes.
When the management learned that they had launched such a grandiose tax investigation just because their engineer had exposed their electric theft, they were both amused and incredulous, assuring that they could turn a blind eye to any future power-stealing activities of the cabinet in exchange for forgiveness.
But Chris was clearly not ready to be bought off with a few scoops of ice cream and insisted on conducting the tax investigation.
The management staff, having initially tried to placate the situation, started to lose their patience and had the security personnel of the sugar factory escort the high school students out, informing them that this place is an American business, governed by United States America law.
Seeing the burly white security guards gathering around one by one, Chris put his cowboy hat back on his head and slowly stood up, "Can I take it that you’re refusing to cooperate with the investigation?"
"That’s right, kid, you can think whatever you like, but it’s better if you just leave nicely now. This is an American factory, not some idiotic playground for you to go wild in your own country," the management staff said indifferently, seated on the sofa.
Chris looked towards one of his subordinates, and the high school student stepped out of the office building, stood outside the gates of the sugar factory, and shouted loudly, "They’re refusing to cooperate with the investigation! We need help!"
"Let Police Chief Dennis teach you what happens when you refuse to cooperate with an investigation! Drive the seventeen wild boars in!" Dennis yelled from a Jeep.
Behind him, dozens of police officers carrying several wooden cages approached the factory gates, Dennis jumped down from the vehicle, and personally went to open the cages containing the wild boars!
Seventeen wild boars, disturbed by the sound of car horns, charged into the sugar factory!
Molasses tanks were ruptured by the boars’ tusks, and filtration pools became their bathing spots, as the seventeen wild boars surged in, turning the whole sugar factory into utter chaos!
"Shit! You’ve gotten your parents into big trouble! Get them out of here!" The white supervisor, seeing this scene, glared fiercely at Chris and commanded his security personnel, then quickly left to organize workers to chase away the scurrying wild boars.
Seeing the security busy chasing wild boars, Dennis looked back at Kevin and Frank, "The foreplay’s done, now it’s your turn."
The two wrestlers, dressed in sportswear today, walked into the factory upon hearing Dennis’s words, heading towards the direction of the office building.
The tall white security guard pushed and shoved Chris, "Get out of the factory! Kid! Don’t make me..."
"Hey! Big guy!" Kevin’s voice rang out from behind the guard.
As the guard turned around, Kevin’s hands were already on his waist, suddenly exerting force and throwing the guard out!
"I’ve got this," Kevin, successful with his move, signaled Frank to take Chris and the others away, while he faced the guard who was shakily getting back up.
Chris, leading his few subordinates, walked out of the reception room and headed straight for the tax accounting office of the sugar factory.
"Saint Vincent Minister of Taxes Chris, I suspect you are guilty of tax evasion. Hand over all the financial records!" Chris pushed open the door of the office and said to the two white men inside.
Both white men were a bit baffled, but after seeing a group of high school students, they both laughed, "Didn’t your mother teach you kids to knock when visiting someone else’s room?"
"Sorry, I came to summer camp so I wouldn’t have to listen to my mom anymore." Frank walked in first, followed by the dull thuds of heavy objects falling and groans.
"Let’s get to work," Chris and his subordinate students entered the office, opened the file cabinet, and began searching quickly, "Take away all the account books you find."
