Chapter 344: Chapter 29: Things Are Getting Interesting_2

"Wow, this surprises me even more than when you asked me to dress up as a teacher for your pleasure. You need my help at work?" Ottelia looked at Tommy with astonishment.

"I know your visit to California isn’t just to keep me company; it’s also because of a charity event. A black lawyer named Earl Rash established the Leap Ethnic Rainbow Organization, and you, Mrs. Clinton, along with several members of the New World Foundation, are here to attend its inaugural dinner," Tommy said lazily, stretching his arm to grab a cigarette from the bedside table and lighting it up as he spoke to Ottelia.

Ottelia ran her fingers through her hair, "It seems like you know more about my schedule in Los Angeles than I do."

"Of course, the Rainbow Organization couldn’t afford to have people like you on stage without some incentives. I had Sophia donate a total of three hundred thousand dollars to the New World Foundation under another name in exchange for you philanthropists giving speeches at the dinner," Tommy admitted candidly.

There was no need to conceal such matters from Ottelia; after all, it wasn’t anything to be ashamed of.

Ottelia picked up Tommy’s oversized white shirt from the bed, slipped into it, and while buttoning it up, she asked with a puzzled expression, "You need to donate money even when you’re asking your own girlfriend to help out with a speech?"

"It doesn’t matter. It’s not my money anyway. Listen, Ottelia, after the dinner, there will be a biracial female guest named Georgia Rosbloom. She’s a widow, and I hope you and the other attendees will spend enough time talking to her. She’s a poor woman who could use the help and advice from successful women like you to get through her tough times." Tommy took a drag from his cigarette and sighed, seemingly sympathetic toward the widow he mentioned:

"Her husband was Carroll Rosbloom, the owner of the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams. Carroll died a few years ago on a beach in Florida, reportedly from accidental drowning while swimming, which is strange because he wasn’t much of a swimmer. But the cause of death isn’t important. What matters is that after his death, the ownership of the Los Angeles Rams now lies with his kin. Georgia was Carroll’s second wife, and he had five children with his first wife. Now, both parties are locked in a bitter inheritance dispute, with the five children trying to cut this poor widow out completely, refusing to share a penny with her. She’s part black, and she has identified herself as black ever since the rise of the racial equality movement. Right, exactly the kind of black person the Leap Ethnic organization aims to help."

"That’s the importance of a traditional family," Ottelia commented upon hearing about the five children with no blood relation to the woman fighting over the family fortune.

Tommy said with a hint of sorrow:

"Apart from being the chairman of the New World Foundation’s board of directors, Mrs. Clinton is also the chairwoman of the United States Children and Women’s Legal Protection Foundation. She’s one of the most famous female lawyers in America, having provided legal aid to countless women like Georgia. I think, if she’s willing, Georgia might avoid ending up penniless and ousted by her five stepchildren. She’s really miserable, Ottelia; she can’t afford lawyer fees and now relies only on the free consultation provided by Earl..."

"I’ll call Diane right now. She doesn’t like shopping and is probably busy with paperwork in the hotel at the moment," said Ottelia, upon hearing Tommy’s description. She walked over to the nearby landline and dialed a number.

The call connected quickly, and Ottelia began informing Hillary on the other end of the line about the unfortunate widow Georgia. However, Hillary didn’t rush to give any advice; instead, she kept asking for various details.

Tommy could just pat Ottelia’s shoulder at the right moment:

"Honey, I obviously have a clearer picture of the details. You can go and get dressed, then prepare my reward."

Ottelia kissed Tommy and said to Hillary on the other end of the phone, "Diane, I’ll let Tommy take over. He knows the details better than I do."

"Alright, Ottelia, hello Tommy, I’m curious how I’ve known Ottelia for so long and never had a chance to meet you," Hillary said with a chuckle on the phone.

As Tommy watched his girlfriend walk out of the bedroom in nothing but a white shirt, he spoke into the receiver, "Ottelia has stepped out, Mrs. Clinton. Let me recount the case details for you. Currently, the Los Angeles Rams are likely to offer Georgia a 15% stake, with her five non-biological children holding the remaining 85%. However, Georgia is not prepared to give those white children a penny. She hopes to get at least 75% of the team if she can’t own it outright. If successful, she’s willing to transfer 5% to Ottelia and you as a token of gratitude."

"What’s the team’s current market value?"

"Fifty-seven million."

"How much would I need to invest for a 2.5% stake?"

"How about one thousand dollars? Just like you turned one thousand dollars into a 120 thousand dollar profit by trading futures before, an astounding return on investment."

"I’ll talk to her at the dinner and offer her some legal advice."

"I’m more curious about what you’re getting out of it, aside from Ottelia’s 2.5%?"

"I’m completely driven by sympathy for her, Mrs. Clinton. So, as a token, I’ll simply take the broadcast rights for the Rams’ next away season. Plus, I’ll introduce her to a black lawyer friend of mine, to see if he could possibly become her new husband."
