"This dog is adorable," Odilia said as she took the leash and examined the Shetland sheepdog. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Tommy, holding another Beagle on the leash, asked Odilia, "Can I ask you out to a movie tomorrow?"
"No, Tommy," Odilia declined Tommy’s invitation without any hesitation.
"Alright," Tommy shrugged his shoulders and walked towards the animal shelter with Odilia, leading the dog.
...
The third day, at the office.
"You adopted two dogs?" Doris, seeing a new photograph with two dogs on her goddaughter’s desk, asked curiously.
Odilia adjusted the photo frame as she explained, "No, Tommy adopted them, but he agreed to let me take care of them for now."
"They’re adorable, what are their names?" Doris nodded in understanding.
"Tommy originally named them Dennis and Pam," Odilia said,
"But I think he did it on purpose because those names belong to two of his high school classmates, so I decided by myself to name the Shetland sheepdog Brady and the Beagle Paisley."
After looking at the photo of the two dogs, Doris asked, "So, did you have another date with Tommy after work yesterday?"
Odilia immediately explained, "A date? No, no, no, he just helped me build a little house for the two dogs in my garden. There was no date; we were always discussing how to make the doghouse look nicer and more comfortable. He did ask me out to a movie while we were working, but I said no."
"So, what do you think about this boy named Tommy?" Doris leaned on Odilia’s desk and inquired.
Odilia thought for a moment, "He’s kindhearted and quite funny to chat with. There’s no need to worry about awkwardness when I’m with him, just that."
"I have a feeling, Odilia, you are falling in love. For the next few days, I suggest you avoid any spicy foods, just in case a sudden kissing moment arises, and you find yourself embarrassed," Doris advised after hearing it all.
"Kissing? With my own student?" Odilia asked in surprise, then took a deep breath:
"No, I won’t kiss him, definitely not."
"I used to say the same to my mom when she advised me to avoid spicy foods," Doris picked up a small biscuit from the tin box and headed for her office:
"And... as it turned out, a man’s lips always proved more tempting than any promise to mom, especially since I had eaten an onion right before the kiss happened. I still feel embarrassed recalling it now," she said.
After work, Odilia saw Tommy waiting outside with a shopping cart full of groceries and immediately shook her head:
"I’m heading home, Tommy."
Tommy patted the handle of the cart, "Can you give me a lift? I’m going to the eldercare home to cook for the seniors for free."
"You can cook?" Odilia asked, surprised.
"Do I not look human?" Tommy chuckled, "Want to taste some non-human cooked food? Or if the elders get food poisoning, you’ll be present to call emergency right away."
In the central kitchen of the eldercare home, Tommy, apron-clad and adept with the knife, was chopping pumpkin and potatoes, while keeping Odilia entertained with tales from his college days, eliciting frequent, delightful laughter from her.
After finishing another amusing story, Tommy suddenly asked, "Can I ask you out to a movie tomorrow?"
Odilia’s eyes twirled as she paused for a moment before smiling and shaking her head, "No."
"Alright, I guess I should stick to telling jokes," Tommy continued cutting vegetables with a smile, showing no sign of disappointment after being rejected.
...
The fourth day
"Can I ask you out to a movie tomorrow, Odilia?"
"...No."
...
The fifth day
"Can I ask you out to a movie tomorrow, Odilia?"
"......No."
...
The sixth day
"Can I ask you out to a movie tomorrow, Odilia?"
".........Maybe."
...
After work, Odilia went home, changed into an outfit she was pleased with, and stepped out through the front door of her family estate’s grand entrance, only to be seen by her parents on the second-floor terrace. Julian Farrel, leaning on the railing, called down to Odilia:
"Dinner’s almost ready, Odilia."
"I’m going out to see a movie with a friend, Dad. My friend has booked a restaurant, but don’t worry, I’ll be home by ten o’clock," Odilia replied, looking up with a smile.
Julian nodded, "No problem, sweetheart, have a good time."
Once Odilia drove away, Julian turned to his wife, who was playing with the two dogs, and said,
"That boy Tommy Hawk seems more mature than his peers. Invitations show social connections, pets show compassion, and cooking skills show capability... I think my darling daughter, just like Doris described, is about to be smitten."
"Sit nicely, Paisley!" his wife, while playing with the pet dog beside her, laughed and said to her husband,
"This boy named Tommy is like a peacock displaying his finest feathers. I think it’s good; these abilities show he can assure us he’ll take good care of Odilia. Plus, she won’t have to worry about dull moments when she’s with him."
