Amber Sword-Chapter 830 - 147: Withering
"Oh? His name is Brand?" The woman smiled slightly, "Thank you, little sister!"
Tiya was infuriated, raising her hand to shoot an Ice Arrow at the woman. Unfortunately, the Ice Arrow turned to ice dust and vanished before it could even get close to the woman. The woman smiled slightly, "Order is also fleeting, returning Magic Power to its original form is better."
Then she raised her hand, and countless vines spread towards Tiya. Although the younger sister among the Wild Elf sisters tried to resist, she only managed to cast a few spells before being securely bound.
"Woman," Viscount Elman watched Tiya being tied up as if it was none of his business before he finally asked, "You still haven't answered my question."
"Your question?" The woman turned her head, sneering, "You think your little tricks can fool me?"
"Do you think I really wouldn't dare kill her?" Viscount Elman asked coldly.
"Why don't you give it a try."
Viscount Elman drew his sword across Faina's snowy white neck, marking a conspicuous blood trace. He raised his head, looking at the woman, "Now what?"
"You're insane!" Luo Nuo shouted, but he glared at Viscount Elman, not daring to make a move, afraid the madman might really do something crazy.
The woman was slightly taken aback; she initially thought Viscount Elman was trying to play the pity card but didn't expect he actually seemed genuinely deranged.
She couldn't help but laugh, "Interesting, do you want to live?"
Viscount Elman nodded.
"Alright," the woman laughed, "I'll give you a chance, kill him, then come with me." She looked at Luo Nuo and spoke nonchalantly.
Luo Nuo was stunned, unable to react in time, suddenly let out a muffled grunt, and lowered his head—looking incredulously at the crossbow bolt piercing his chest, then back at Viscount Elman.
He naturally knew this crossbow bolt was poisoned, and it was a poison he personally concocted, intended for dealing with Monsters in the forest, yet he didn't expect himself to be the first test subject.
What he didn't foresee was Viscount Elman being so decisively ruthless.
He looked at his companion with a puzzled gaze, then fell backward.
"Luo Nuo!" Faina almost couldn't believe what she saw, her eyes reddening instantly, "You're mad, Viscount Elman, what have you done!"
But Viscount Elman didn't glance at her, only pressing the sword in his right hand against her neck, while his left hand discarded the hand crossbow, looking back at the woman.
The woman watched the scene with great interest, finally clapping her hands, "Well done, Viscount Elman, clean and decisive. You definitely have the potential to join us."
She tilted her head, smiling at the young Imperial Noble, "So, what's your decision?"
Viscount Elman had no doubt that if he refused, she would immediately make him disappear without a trace. He hesitated for a moment, and finally nodded.
The instant he nodded, the tense nerves he'd been holding finally relaxed. He thought that no matter how terrifying this woman was, she wouldn't turn against a comrade, especially as a promising figure in the empire's high noble circles, he believed he still held some value in her eyes.
But these thoughts lasted only a moment before they shattered because as soon as he nodded, a vine ghosted out from behind him, piercing through his throat.
A stream of blood spurted out, splattering across Faina's face.
Then the noble daughter only realized the person holding her from behind had fallen heavily to the ground.
She was utterly terrified at that moment, she dared not move at all.
And then, with a crash, she knelt down, unable to utter a single word.
Not far from her, the woman didn't even look at her but just backhandedly swung a tenacious vine whip from her hand. The whip stirred up a gust of sword wind almost identical to Ben's White Crow Swordsmanship, sweeping past the ground with a whoosh.
The sword wind barely grazed past Faina, then severed Viscount Elman's body behind her in half, carrying a spray of blood flying far away.
The woman retrieved the whip, then twirled Viscount Elman's short sword from the ground, flinging it towards Tiya. The short sword pierced through the heart, Tiya struggled briefly, then lowered her head. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Only then did the woman smile slightly with satisfaction, sighing, "So foolish, thinking I am like those softhearted ones from the All Things Return to One assembly, so attached to the power of this world."
"Authority is but an illusion, and someday, the throne will also turn to sand."
She glanced at Faina, smiling, "But as for you, little girl, you still hold some use to me. Come along, I'll take you to do a good business—but, business, I prefer the term Human."
