Chapter 90: Chapter 90: My Life Is a Joke

"What the fuck are you doing?" A roar was heard, and a man rushed from behind Emily, caught Alpha Robert by the shoulders with both hands, and threw him backwards, so that he rolled straight down the stairs.

Emily saw the back of Kim James, who stood before her and shouted angrily at Alpha Robert, "How could you do this to your daughter?"

Alpha Robert struggled to get up from the ground and said to King James in a cold tone, "Actually, I’m still not sure if she’s my daughter. A girl who curses her mother should not continue to live in this world."

"I didn’t curse my mother!" Emily shouted, and she scrambled to her feet, "It was Katherine who poisoned my mother!"

"You were the one who made the men dressed in white dig up your mother’s body out of the ground, and you were the one who kept her from resting. Mother Luna would not accept a dismembered werewolf." Alpha Robert yelled at Emily, "You’re a disgrace to me, you don’t deserve my last name."

"That’s enough." King James roared, "I agreed to the forensic autopsy of Diane’s body, and if we hadn’t done that, we would never have known the real cause of Diane’s death."

"That’s right, it’s you." Alpha Robert looked at King James and sneered, "I really didn’t expect that after all these years, you still can’t forget my wife. In that case, why did you never marry her in the first place? Do not forget that Diane used to be your mate."

What? Emily was stunned. Her mother turned out to be the king’s mate? No wonder he cares so much about the case.

"Shut up, Robert." King James scolded Alpha Robert, "My tolerance for you has reached the limit. You married the woman who poisoned Diane. I should have punished you too, but I didn’t. Are you trying to piss me off, Robert?"

"Come on, punish me." Alpha Robert opened his hands and shouted at King James, "You are the king, you can do whatever you want. You can even take someone’s wife."

King James stood on the steps, looking down condescendingly at Alpha Robert, and a cold light, full of murderous intent, shot from his eyes into Alpha Robert’s. The majesty of the king, which emanated from his person, caused the air around him to condense in an instant.

Two menacing wolves were staring at each other, and a fight was about to break out.

Suddenly, Prince Adam ran up, confronted his father, and persuaded him in as calm a tone as possible, "Father, why can’t you go to the office to settle your personal problems? Do you want everyone to know about your old past?"

Prince Adam’s words brought King James back to his composure, and after a few seconds, he said to Alpha Robert, "Robert, I know you well. Don’t think I can’t guess what you’re here for. If you want to negotiate terms with me, then go to my office."

King James turned to leave, only to see Alpha Robert walk up the steps, and when he passed Emily, he said to her viciously, "You go with me too."

"I’m not going with you." Emily refused.

"Don’t you want to know about your mother?" Alpha Robert intentionally provoked Emily.

Emily glared at him, then got up from the ground and walked with difficulty, her hand on her stomach. At this time, Prince Adam immediately came to help her, and he said to her gently, "Lean on me."

When they arrived at the King’s office, they saw King James sitting in the middle of the couch, and when he saw Emily come in, he asked Alpha Robert in an angry tone, "What are you asking Emily to do here?"

"There are some things that she should know." Alpha Robert did not care about King James’s anger in the least; he did not sit down, but stood facing the king.

King James frowned, and he said to his son, "Adam, you go out first."

Prince Adam nodded slightly to his father, and then glanced at Emily, as if to say, take care of yourself.

The moment the door closed, King James said directly to Alpha Robert, "Your wife, Katherine, has committed murder and she can’t possibly be pardoned. If you want to intercede for her..."

"Why should I intercede for a murderer?" Alpha Robert’s tone was full of sarcasm, "Since the king’s decree is above all else, as your subject, I can only choose to accept it."

"So what the fuck do you want?" King James slammed his hand on the table in anger.

"I want a divorce." Alpha Robert made his request, "I’m going to disassociate myself from Katherine before she gets executed, and I can’t let my pack people think their Luna is a murderer. Also, Katherine’s personal property must be given to me."

King James sneered after hearing this, "Robert, after all these years, you are still that selfish man. From start to finish, you are only concerned with your own interests. As I said, I have been very kind to you. How dare you make such unreasonable demands upon me?"

"Of course, you can refuse my request." Alpha Robert’s tone was arrogant and threatening, "But I’ll also show your loyal subjects that their usually benevolent and humble king is a hypocrite. Not only did he reject his former mate for power, but he even defiled other people’s wives."

"You talk nonsense!" King James kicked the glass coffee table in front of him. He rushed to Alpha Robert and pushed him against the wall, grabbing Alpha Robert’s neck, "I could kill you."

"Diane told me all about your affair. She even confessed to me that she wasn’t necessarily pregnant with my baby."

"What?" King James showed a shocked look, and he slowly let go of his hand, "What did you say?"

Alpha Robert coughed desperately, his face flushed, and he looked at Emily, "Do you know why I hate you so much? Because you have none of the traits that we have in our family, I am not sure that you are my daughter."

Emily froze at the news, unable for a moment to come to terms with it. She felt a sudden wave of disgust as the gaze of King James fell upon her.

"Enough!" Emily yelled at the two men in front of her, "Shut up!"

"I finally got it now." Emily pointed at Alpha Robert and yelled, "You asked me to come here just to negotiate terms with the king, and you don’t recognize me as your daughter, but you still want to use me."

"And you." Emily turned to look at King James, "I don’t care what your relationship with my mother was. Anyway, I don’t have a father, never have." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

"Emily." King James tried to get closer to Emily, "I admit I had a relationship with your mother, maybe..."

"Shut up!" Emily slammed the door and fled the suffocating room.

She ran and cried. Her mother was dead, and she did not even know who her father was. Her life, at this moment, seemed to have become a joke full of pathos.

With tears on her face and a lost soul, she walked down the street. Every step seemed so heavy, so bewildering. She did not know where she was going; the world had become so strange and empty to her. The sun was high in the sky, and the glare of its blazing rays fell mercilessly on her head, making her feel dizzy and tired. Her body was crumbling as if it would fall at any moment. Just as she was about to lose her footing, a car suddenly pulled up in front of her.

"Emily." A familiar voice rang out, and at the same moment, a pair of strong hands clasped her fallen form firmly. She strained her eyes, dim with tears, to make out who was before her. At last, she saw the familiar face.

"Klaus, take me home." She said.
