Chapter 46: Chapter 46 Alpha, Prince?

Many of the guests gathered around Klaus, and besides congratulating him on becoming crown prince, they didn’t hesitate to offer their daughters to him. Socialites in sultry evening gowns deliberately approached Klaus in an attempt to catch his attention. But Klaus remained unmoved, his eyes scanning the crowd for Emily’s figure.

"Emily, look." Mina pointed to a woman nearby and said, "That’s my mother. I’ll take you over to say hello to her."

Emily’s gaze followed the direction indicated by Mina, and she saw the queen, the second-in-command of the kingdom, seated on the throne. She was a woman of striking beauty. Her dress was undoubtedly extravagant and sensual, a red evening gown of a design that was simultaneously bold and noble, perfectly framing her graceful figure. The fabric of the evening dress sparkled in the light as if it were a flowing flame, emitting an irresistible charm.

Yet, despite her finery, there was a hint of loneliness in her eyes. Perhaps because the king’s seat was empty, she sat there alone, looking a little lonely.

"Let’s go," said Maggie, taking Emily’s hand and moving toward her mother’s seat.

"Mommy, this is Emily," Mina volunteered to introduce the queen. "She’s Klaus’ Luna and my friend."

"We’ve also been to bars with Emily," Maggie accidentally revealed too much, so she quickly added, "But we just went for a drink."

The Queen does not seem to mind the twin princesses going to the pub. She sat leisurely on her throne, one hand gently shaking the champagne glass in which the liquid sparkled seductively in the light.

The queen’s gaze swept over Emily, and then, in her usual haughty voice, she said, "You’re the bride from the South, aren’t you?"

"My name is Emily, from the Red Moon pack in the South." Emily respectfully saluted Queen Mary, "It is a great honor to meet you, Your Highness."

"My daughters have mentioned you to me." Queen Mary put down her champagne glass and asked casually, "You must not be used to life here when you first arrived in the North, right?"

"Yes, Your Highness. I am trying to adjust to life in the north. I’m sure I will get used to it in time," Emily replied truthfully.

Queen Mary nodded, revealing a hint of lukewarm concern in her tone: "Welcome to becoming a member of the royal family. But you must understand that being a princess is not an easy task. You need to be mentally prepared."

Emily replied in a humble tone, "I will do my best, Your Highness. I would appreciate your advice and help."

Queen Mary raised her eyebrows, and there was a hint of helplessness in her tone: "Me? I’m afraid I don’t have much to teach you. After all, everyone’s experience is different."

After some pleasantries, Queen Mary seemed to lose interest in the subject. She waved her hand and said to the twin princesses, "Go and have some fun, children."

"Wow, I want to dance!" Mina excitedly took Maggie’s hand and went out onto the dance floor. Emily was turning to leave when Queen Mary suddenly stopped her.

"Emily."

"Yes." Emily bowed her head respectfully and listened. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"I don’t often live in the palace. I hope you will spend more time with Mina and Maggie in the future." Queen Mary said in a motherly tone, "You can see they like you very much."

"I’ll treat them like my sisters." Emily replied.

Upon hearing this answer, Queen Mary nodded with satisfaction, "Enjoy dinner."

Music played and guests spilled onto the dance floor. Emily, who wasn’t planning to dance, felt a little uneasy at the moment. As she had not yet adjusted to her new identity, she was confused and didn’t know how to be a good princess.

When she looked up, she saw Klaus standing right in front of her. He bent down and extended a gentlemanly hand to her, "Beautiful lady, may I have the pleasure of dancing with you?"

"I’m not very good at dancing," Emily said, with some embarrassment.

"It’s okay, you just have to follow my lead." Klaus spoke gently to her.

Emily nodded, and she accepted Klaus’s invitation. Then Klaus led her onto the dance floor, and to the sound of melodious music, they began to dance.

As a result of Emily’s awkward dancing skills, she accidentally stepped on Klaus’s foot several times, which also attracted the ridicule of the celebrities. Their whispers and snide comments reached Emily’s ears.

"Look, that bride from the south doesn’t know how to dance at all." One woman shook her fan and said to her companion, "She looks like she’s from the countryside."

"I really don’t understand how such a woman can become a princess." Another woman said in a disdainful tone, "Are all the women from the South like her?"

Emily involuntarily lowered her head at these words. She felt a little ashamed of her performance. She truly didn’t understand these high-class social graces.

"Don’t pay attention to those voices," Klaus sensed Emily’s mood change, and he comforted her, "They’re just a bunch of noisy flies buzzing around."

"Klaus, I..." Emily couldn’t finish her sentence.

"Do you want me to get rid of them?" Klaus whispered, "I don’t want that swarm of flies to ruin your mood."

"There’s no need for that." Emily managed a smile, "They’re right, I’m a girl from the countryside. And I’m terrible at dancing."

"It’s not a problem," Klaus quipped, "My kitten doesn’t give up easily."

"Klaus, I don’t think I’m a good fit to be a princess." Emily’s voice was barely above a whisper, and there was a hint of self-deprecation in her tone.

A real prince should be with a princess, but she was only a girl raised in the country, who preferred that kind of freedom to living in a cage made of gold.

There was too great a gulf between them, a chasm that she couldn’t cross.

"Never say anything like that to me again." Klaus pulled Emily into his arms and said to her in a firm tone, "I am my own princess, and no one can replace me."

He clung to her without hesitation, and everyone around them cast astonished glances at them. Emily struggled and managed to free herself from Klaus’s embrace. She turned, and it happened to be time for a change of partners.

Emily was supposed to be a dance partner with a group of alpha males, but just as they were about to approach her, a man in a white suit forcibly intervened and grabbed Emily.

"Dyson?"

Emily looked at Dyson in surprise, knowing that he wasn’t her dance partner, so she reminded him, "You’ve mistaken your dance partner. Your spot isn’t here."

"It doesn’t matter. Now you’re mine." Dyson flicked his blond hair and smiled smugly at Emily.
