Chapter 44: Chapter 44 What You Did to Me

When Emily woke up, she was stunned to find herself naked in bed.

She struggled to remember what had happened the night before. She recalled going shopping with the twin princesses, and then they had taken her to the bar. After that, her memory was a blur.

"Gosh, what the hell happened next?"

At that moment, Emily saw Klaus emerge from the bathroom, wrapped in a white bath towel. His upper body was well-defined, and his chest still bore the pink marks of past passion.

"Good morning," he said, wiping the water from his hair with the towel and leaning his body against the wall. His green eyes watched Emily intently on the bed.

"You, what did you do to me last night?" Emily asked, sitting up with a dull ache between her legs as she shifted her body. She immediately realized that she and Klaus must have had sex last night, but the question was, who had taken the initiative?

"Looks like you’ve forgotten what happened last night," Klaus said, dropping the wet towel carelessly on the chair and walking over to the bed to look down at her.

"Do you want me to help you remember what you did to me last night?"

"Me?" Emily’s eyes widened in disbelief. "What did I do to you?"

He must be lying. What could she possibly have done to him?

"Look at this," Klaus turned and showed Emily the marks on his back from her fingernails, and the marks on his shoulder from her bite.

Although the marks had become indistinct, they still served to remind her of what had happened the night before.

"You let me kiss you and touch you," Klaus said, his tone heavy with memories of their encounter the previous night. "You even let me..."

"Stop, please," Emily interrupted, embarrassed. Vague images flickered through her mind.

God, had she really begged him to kiss and caress her last night, as he claimed? It would be too humiliating if it were true.

She had sex with him less than a day after their argument. She remembered how she had vowed to draw a line under their relationship and how she had insisted that there would be no further developments between them.

She must have been drunk last night. That was the only explanation for what had happened.

"Last night was a mistake," Emily said firmly. "A big mistake."

"A mistake?" Klaus’s brow furrowed slightly. He clearly disagreed with Emily’s assessment. "You wanted me, and now you’re calling it a mistake."

"Do you think I’m the kind of casual person who would just throw myself at anyone?" Klaus clasped his hands behind his back, a stern expression on his face. "As the victim here, I think you owe me an apology."

"What?" Emily thought Klaus should have been a lawyer, one of those cunning lawyers who defended the worst criminals.

"You’re a vampire, Klaus," she reminded him, as if that somehow justified her actions or lack of them.

"Comparing a werewolf to a vampire is the greatest insult to him," Klaus pressed his knees against the bed, resting one hand on the bedside table. Then, he covered Emily’s body with his own, his fingers tangled in her long, soft hair, and said in a playful tone, "Tell me, how am I supposed to punish a woman who humiliates me?"

Emily cowered, pulling the sheet up to cover her chest. She swallowed hard and said, "Give her a million and let her go."

"Or, I should tie her to the bed," Klaus suggested, seizing Emily’s wrists and holding them high above her head. The sheets slipped down, revealing her white breasts.

"And then..." Klaus’s gaze lingered between Emily’s breasts as he parted her legs with his knees.

As Emily’s legs parted beneath him, a ripple of pain shot through her, and she involuntarily let out a low moan.

"Tell me, what should I do with you?" His low, magnetic voice echoed in Emily’s ears as he gently brushed her earlobe with his lips.

"Stop, please," Emily pleaded, her eyes closed as she struggled to maintain her composure.

"That’s not what you said last night," Klaus teased, a hint of a smile in his voice.

"I..." Emily bit her lower lip, momentarily unsure of what to say.

Just then, a knock at the door disrupted the tense atmosphere in the room, and Emily was relieved as she felt Klaus’s body withdraw from hers.

She opened her eyes and pulled the sheet back over herself. Then, she heard someone talking to Klaus in the drawing room, and soon Klaus entered the bedroom.

"Get up first, kitten. I suppose you must be hungry. The servants have brought lunch." Klaus went to the closet and picked out a dark short-sleeved shirt from it. As he got dressed, he said to Emily, "The servant put the clothes you bought yesterday in the living room and asked me to bring them to you."

"Thank you," Emily whispered.

Klaus picked one out of the pile of clothes and handed it to Emily, his gaze falling on her again. "Need I help you change your clothes?"

"I can change my clothes myself," Emily said, motioning for Klaus to leave with her eyes.

"There’s no need to hide anything from me," Klaus smiled wickedly. "I’ve seen every part of your body."

"I just need a little space, please," Emily pleaded, her tone sincere. Klaus smiled and nodded, then left the bedroom to give Emily privacy.

After Emily had changed her dress, she went into the drawing room to inspect the table, which was laden with delicious food.

"Sit," Klaus said. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Emily sat down, and Klaus placed a steak in front of her. "Eat more, you need to replenish your strength, honey."

As the aroma of the steak wafted into Emily’s nostrils, she realized her stomach was ravenous, most likely due to the excessive exercise the night before.

"There are still six hours before the banquet begins, and when lunch is over, the maids will come and freshen you up," said Klaus, placing another portion of smoked bacon in front of Emily, as if he feared she wouldn’t have enough to eat.

"Banquet?" Emily remembered there was a banquet tonight. She swallowed a mouthful of steak and said, "But I’ve never been to a court banquet before, and I don’t know what to do."

To say nothing of palace banquets, she had never even attended a formal ball. Mrs. Power had taught her how to dance socially when they were in the country, but she had soon forgotten it all.

"You can do whatever you want. You don’t need to care about anyone’s gaze," Klaus said.

"What if I make a fool of myself?" Emily had no idea about high society etiquette, and the memory of the last time she had seen the king almost made her feel foolish.

"I’ll be with you," Klaus took a sip of white wine, his tone calm. "If anyone dares to be disrespectful to you, I’ll tear their mouth apart."

Emily gasped, imagining what the ladies would think of her as a country girl.

If you get into trouble, rise to the challenge, Emily comforted herself inwardly.
