Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 42 You Big Badass
Palace
As Klaus carried Emily through the corridors of the palace, the passing servants bowed their heads and drew back, waiting for Klaus’s back to disappear at the end of the corridor before the servants dared to whisper.
It was the first time they had ever seen a servant, who had been at court for many years, dare to curse their former prince in such a manner, and to the astonishment of the servants, Klaus not only did not take offense, but allowed the woman to beat and curse him.
It was a far cry from the cold, hard Klaus they had known. There was no need to wait for the next day; the news had already reached the court.
Klaus pushed the door open with one hand, and with the other clasped Emily’s waist, so that he did not allow her body to slip even as she moved over his shoulder.
He placed Emily’s body firmly on the red couch, and when Emily sat down, she waved her hands and nearly knocked Klaus’s sunglasses off. Instead of getting angry, Klaus whispered to her, "Don’t make a fuss, Emily. We’re home."
"Who are you?" Emily’s face flushed, and she looked at Klaus with those dim eyes. Her mind, clouded with alcohol and some mixture, staggered, and she reached for Klaus’s sunglasses to try to see his face better. She leaned her face close to his, breathing in the warmth of the wine.
"Klaus, it’s you." Emily smirked and said, "I know you."
"You recognize me again. That’s good." There was a hint of relief in Klaus’s voice.
Emily pointed her finger at Klaus’s nose. "You big badass. You are a thief."
"Maybe I’m a big badass," said Klaus, "but I’m not a thief."
"Yes, you are." Emily pouted. "You stole something from me."
"I stole something from you?" Klaus looked at Emily quizzically.
"You..." Emily put her hands on Klaus’s shoulders and looked down at him. "You stole my heart."
When Klaus heard this, he was first surprised, and then there was a hint of pleasure on his face.
Even if he had known she was speaking while drunk, the words alone would have been enough to sweep away the gloom that had lingered in his heart for the past few days.
"As you say, I am indeed a thief." Klaus chuckled to himself.
"You’re a big jerk and a thief."
"Yes, I am." Klaus said softly, "Emily, can you go to your room and sleep?"
"No, I can’t sleep." Emily lost her temper like a child, "I’m in pain."
"Tell me where it hurts." Klaus asked with concern, thinking he had somehow hurt her.
"Here." Emily’s eyes were red as she pointed to her heart and said, "My heart hurts."
"Tell me, why does your heart hurt?" He pressed her hand to his cheek and gazed at her with tenderness in his eyes.
"I feel my wolf." Emily’s voice trembled slightly, "She’s been here, and I heard her."
"That’s a good thing."
"But that means I’ll meet my mate when my wolf returns." Emily’s eyes became extremely troubled, "I’m afraid I won’t be able to control myself."
"It’s alright, I’ll address this issue later." Klaus spoke bitterly; he understood her fears.
He didn’t want her to be forced into a painful decision, but he wasn’t ready to let her go either.
Emily murmured a few incoherent words, and then her body swayed from side to side. Klaus was quick to catch her and gently laid her down on her side on the sofa. Soon, she slipped into a brief, peaceful slumber with her eyes closed.
Klaus knelt down beside Emily. He gazed at her disheveled hair and the lingering sadness on her delicate face. In his distress, he wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, his anger at her going to the pub unaccompanied long forgotten.
All he wanted now was for her to rest peacefully and have a good night’s sleep.
Later, they’d talk about it later.
Just then, the telephone rang at an inconvenient moment. To avoid waking Emily, Klaus stepped out onto the balcony to answer it.
"This is Marx." Marx’s voice came through the line. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"Get to the point."
"The bar manager said the glass of wine was meant for another customer, but the bartender made a mistake and served it to Luna by accident." Marx relayed the findings of his investigation, "Also, I took Luna’s unfinished wine to the hospital. Dr. Luna confirmed it. Stephen verified the contents."
"And then?" Klaus asked.
"Dr. Stephen said the glass contained stimulants and..." Marx slurred.
"What else?" Klaus’s tone was low and intense.
"And aphrodisiacs," Marx said. "But Dr. Stephen says the potion content in that glass of wine doesn’t do much harm to the body, it just makes people feel high."
"Fire that damn bartender," Klaus ordered and hung up.
Klaus had long been familiar with the sordid tactics of saloons. Some nefarious individuals used drugs to control women, and even though Marx didn’t say it outright, Klaus could guess the consequences of ingesting that drug.
As he pondered, Emily’s voice called from the living room, and Klaus rushed into the room.
"Water..." Emily struggled to sit up, her eyes half-open in search of water.
"The water’s here." Klaus pulled a bottle of mineral water from the fridge, twisted off the cap, and held it to Emily’s lips. "Drink slowly, baby."
"I’m so hot." Emily tried to undress, but Klaus stopped her.
"You’ll catch a cold if you undress now. I’ll take you to bed." Considering Emily’s weaker constitution compared to the average werewolf, Klaus couldn’t allow her to undress, and he didn’t want her to get sick.
Klaus lifted Emily gently and carried her into the bedroom, laying her down on the bed. Just as he was about to withdraw his hand from her body, she caught his arm.
"Don’t leave me." Her voice was soft and alluring.
"I’m right here," Klaus said, gazing at her rosy cheeks and her beautiful, seductive, yet veiled blue eyes.
"Kiss me," Emily said, her voice laced with longing and supplication.
Klaus hesitated, but he didn’t move. He knew the aphrodisiac was taking effect on Emily, and perhaps he should step away for a moment, waiting for its full influence before returning to her.
"Touch me," Emily urged this time, drawing Klaus’s arm down and pressing her fiery body against his chest.
"Emily, are you sure you want this?" Klaus whispered, seeking confirmation.
"Yes," Emily whispered back, wrapping her hand around Klaus’s neck. The sweet scent of her body enveloped him.
Klaus fought to rein in the fiery desire that raged within him, his resolve weakening as Emily’s lips, soft as rose petals, pressed against his.
He kissed her deeply, his tongue trailing down her neck.
She lifted her breasts willingly, allowing his hand to slip beneath the light fabric, caressing the smooth, warm skin before sliding lower, between her thighs. Her arms filled the space between her hips and back, eager for him to explore her further.
He undressed Emily, discarding her clothes aside until only her white bra remained. His fingers traced the edges of the fabric before slowly lifting it, revealing her breasts, full and firm under the soft silk.
Emily moaned with longing, yearning for him to take her deeper.
