Half an hour later Marx brought Adam before Klaus. Adam’s eyes lit up with sudden anger at the sight of Klaus.

" Klaus, where did you hide my sister?" Adam questioned. Adam questioned.

"Emily is safe here." Klaus said politely to Adam, "Sit down and let’s talk."

"I don’t think we have anything to talk about." Adam straightened himself, as if he did not intend to stay long. " Give me Emily immediately or my army will cross the border and attack the North."

" You don’t threaten me Adam." Klaus, as he sat down on the sofa, took up his glass and took a sip of his whisky. " You should know that the Confederate Army is no match for the Northern Army. But I do not wish to make an enemy of you. After all, you are Emily’s brother and my children’s future uncle."

"What did you say? " A look of shock flashed in Adam’s eyes, soon he regained his composure." Emily is carrying your child?"

"Of course. " Klaus’ tone was sure and smug, "Now, will you listen to me?"

Adam walked over helplessly and sat down across from Klaus." What are you trying to say? " Adam’s demeanor was clearly not as strong as it had been earlier.

"I want Emily," Klaus said.

"Emily isn’t your mate anymore, and even if she’s carrying your child, you have no right to keep her with you. " Adam crossed his arms over his chest, his handsome face looking a little grim in the light.

" If Emily doesn’t marry me, that baby will be a bastard without a last name. " Klaus said," Do you want your future nephew to be ridiculed?"

"I have already discussed the issue of this baby with Emily. " Adam glanced at Klaus," I’ve decided that Emily’s child will use the Wilson surname."

" My child can only use my last name." Klaus heaved his glass upon the table.

"That’s enough, Klaus. " Adam said without changing his face, "Emily suffered too much while she was with you. As her brother, I just want Emily to live the life she wants. Why are you still bothering her?"

" She’s mine." Klaus emphasized, " We are mate and no one can separate us."

" Oh, really?" Adam taunted, " Then why does Emily prefer to stay in the South rather than be with you?"

Klaus’s expression froze, his chest heaved with rage, and Adam’s words were like a sharp needle in his heart.

Why should not Emily wish to be by his side?

" Klaus, I am not an unreasonable person." Adam said calmly, " If Emily wants to be with you, I won’t stop her. But if she doesn’t want to be with you, I will take her, no matter what it takes."

Klaus was silent for a moment as he took his glass and drained the whisky in a single gulp. Then he laid out his terms to Adam, "I am willing to give the South all of the Western territories occupied by the Northern Army, but the Southern Royal Family must restore my marriage to Emily."

"Are you sure? " Adam surveyed Klaus with skeptical eyes," As far as I know, the Northern Army occupies almost half of the Western Army’s territory. Would your father really approve of you doing that?"

"I’m in charge." Klaus stares at Adam, "Just tell me if you’re willing to accept the offer."

"The offer does sound tempting. " Adam ran one hand over his smooth chin as he pondered," But ——"

Adam’s words were interrupted by a knock at the door, and both he and Klaus looked in the direction of the door at the same moment. Standing aside, Marx immediately went to open the door. When the door opens, Marx sees Emily standing outside wearing a black jacket.

" Emily?" Marx looks at Klaus and Adam in the room and then at Emily. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Adam was up at the sound of the voice. He walked over to his sister and hugged her, " Oh Emily, it’s so good to see you."

" What are you doing here, Adam?" Emily asked in surprise.

Adam let go of Emily and said, "I thought you were kidnapped."

" No. " Emily explains," I was tracking a rogue at the border when I was attacked and Klaus saved me."

" Are you hurt?" Adam asked with concern.

" I just bruised my hand." Emily held up her white gauze wrapped palm to Adam and said, " Look, the doctor has bandaged my hand."

"Now that you’re okay, let me take you home. " Adam said and was about to leave, but Klaus stopped him.

"Adam, our negotiation is not over yet." Klaus reminded Adam.

" What are you guys talking about?" Emily asked. Her eyes sharpened.

Adam was about to open his mouth when Klaus beat him to it, "We were talking about you."

"Me? " Emily’s eyes move back and forth between Adam and Klaus, her eyes thoughtful and skeptical. Then she crossed the room.

"Very well. " Emily sat straight down on the couch, she set the black jacket in her hand aside, "Then you guys can continue, just so I can hear what you plan to do with me."

Klaus frowned, "We’re not talking about what we’re going to do with you. I don’t like your use of the word ’disposal’."

" Then what were you talking about regarding me? " Emily asked.

" Klaus intends to cede half of the western territories to the south, but his request is to restore your marriage to him. " Adam said truthfully.

"So, I’ve become a bargaining chip on your negotiating table, right? " Emily looked sharply at Klaus and Adam at the same time, she asked rhetorically," What makes you think you can decide everything about me?"

Klaus and Adam were silent, and there was a look of weakness in their eyes. After a moment, Klaus breaks the silence and says to Emily, " Sorry, lover."

"Emily, I didn’t actually agree to Klaus’ terms. " Adam explains, "I respect your choice."

"Oh, now you guys know how to respect my choices, do you? " Emily sneered," If you guys were really looking out for me, you would have asked my opinion first instead of hiding here and negotiating in secret."

The two men fell silent again, and it was only then that Klaus realized how wrong the negotiation had gone. What was he going to do now that his kitten was angry?

To keep the situation from getting worse, Klaus chooses to own up to his mistake, so he whispers to Emily, "I’m sorry, lover. It was my fault."

Emily gave Klaus an unkind look, "Your apology is too late."

Klaus cautiously approached Emily as he whispered, " Dr. Stephen said that pregnant women can’t be angry or it will affect the development of the fetus. I’ll do anything for you, as long as you don’t get angry."

" Klaus, I’m still here. " Adam’s tone was full of warning, "Don’t flirt with my sister in front of me."

"If I were you, I would leave this room immediately. " Klaus said.

"Even if I were to leave, I would take Emily with me." Adam said defiantly.

" That’s enough." Emily interrupted their argument, " You guys need to stop arguing about me because I’ve already made up my mind."

Both men looked at Emily at once, while they both waited for her to reveal her decision.
