Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 193 Drag her out.
Dolly was cleaning up in the kitchen when she heard the head butler’s voice in her ear.
" Hey ,you."
So Dolly put down the broom in her hand. She looked up at the head butler suspiciously. Dolly pointed her finger at herself, " Me?"
" Yes." The head chef asked, " What was your name again?"
"Dolly."
" Ok, Dolly," said the Head Chef, " The honorable lady was so pleased with your lemon pie that the King said he wanted to see you."
" The King wants to see me?" Dolly was a little startled.
"That’s right. You are going to the dining room now."
Just as Dolly was about to leave, the head backroom chef suddenly tugged on Dolly’s arm and reminded her in a low voice, "If the king says he wants to reward you, you just accept. Don’t say anything that will upset the king. Our king is not a benevolent monarch. I cannot save you if you provoke him. Do you understand?"
Dolly nodded." Go on. " The head chef said and let go of his hand.
So Dolly followed one of the maids to the dining room. The moment she stepped through the dining-room door, the light from the sparkling crystal chandelier threw her for a moment into a trance.
Her eyes quickened, and the first thing she saw was Elijah seated at the head of the table. The medallion he wore on his breast, a symbol of the king’s power, glittered golden in the light. Even as Elijah sits there casually, he exudes an aura that is not to be underestimated.
A woman sat across from Elijah. Dolly had just seen the back of the woman, and concluded that the woman was Emily.
Dolly stole a glance at Emily as she passed. Their eyes met for two seconds, and Dolly was sure that Emily had seen her.
But why were Emily’s eyes so calm, as if she had never seen her before?
Why was that? Dolly was deeply puzzled.
"This is the maid who makes the dessert. Your Majesty, " The low voice of the royal butler broke Dolly’s thoughts and she immediately snapped back to her senses.
Elijah rested one hand casually on the tabletop, which was smooth as a mirror and reflected his slender fingers. He narrowed his eyes a little, and glanced at Dolly, who stood beside him with an air of imperious dignity. "What is your name?"
"My name is Dolly," Dolly replied respectfully.
"The lady was pleased with the treats you made today." Elijah’s mouth lifted a little at the corners, and there was a hint of satisfaction in the smile. His gaze went to Emily, who was sitting across from him, and his eyes were filled with favor, "Emily, what do you think the maid should be paid?"
Emily raised her head a little, and looked at Dolly tenderly. She asked, " What do you want?"
"It is my duty to serve you. " Dolly said," I want nothing more."
Emily smiled slightly, "Do you know how to cook anything else besides lemon pie?"
"I can also make some southern specialties. " Dolly replied.
"You’re from the South?" Elijah’s eyes flashed with alarm.
"My grandmother was a refugee from the south and she used to teach me to cook some southern dishes." Dolly said. Her voice was steady, but there was a hint of uneasiness in it. She could sense Elijah’s suspicion of her identity.
Fortunately, Dolly had memorized the information about her false identity before she entered the palace. Dolly had thought of an answer to Elijah’s question.
"Which pack are you from?" Elijah asked.
"I’m from the White River pack on the border."
"Why did you come to the Capitol?" Elijah surveyed Dolly with a critical eye, and his questions came one after the other like a dense shower of arrows, giving Dolly not the slightest chance to catch her breath. "Who introduced you to the palace? When did you come here?"
"I—" Dolly was about to open her mouth to answer Elijah’s questions when Emily, who was sitting on the side, interrupted her.
" Elijah, how about rewarding her with a job as a cook?" Emily said. She had an expectant look in her eyes, "I’d like to try some of her southern cooking."
"You want to give her a job as a cook?" Elijah shifted his gaze to Emily; he frowned a little, and there was a flicker of thought in his eyes. He was silent for a few seconds before saying, "As you wish."
"Thanks. Elijah. " Emily’s face broke into a happy smile.
" I’ll have the head backroom cook give you a job as a chef." Elijah said to Dolly. "Now, you can stand down." His tone resumed its majesty, and allowed Dolly no retort.
" Thank you, Your Majesty."
Just as Dolly was turning to leave, she saw Emily suddenly frown. That frown made Dolly’s heart tighten, and a bad foreboding came over her.
Then Emily turned her head to one side, and as she did so she began to vomit violently. Emily’s body shook violently, and she looked as if she were in great pain.
"What’s wrong with you Emily?" Elijah rose hastily, and he walked quickly to Emily’s side, with worry and anxiety in his eyes.
Emily had been vomiting, and she could not answer Elijah’s words at all. Her face grew as white as paper, and her forehead was covered with a cold perspiration.
"What did you put in the lemon pie?" Elijah questions Dolly, "Why is she vomiting?"
Elijah’s voice resounded through the dining-room like a roaring lion, filling the space with tension.
"I just put some lemon pulp and sugar in the lemon pie. Your Majesty." Dolly tensed up. She also could not understand why Emily would throw up after eating lemon pie. As far as Dolly could remember, Emily had never vomited while eating lemon pie. Her mind was in turmoil, and she did not know how to account for the suddenness of the situation. Could it be that Emily was ill? She kept speculating in her own mind.
"Butler, go get the doctor." Elijah ordered at the butler, " Tell the guards to take the woman away. ’
Dolly started, her body as cold as if she had fallen into an ice-cellar. She immediately begged Elijah for forgiveness, "Please forgive me, Your Majesty. I really didn’t do anything."
But Elijah would not listen to Dolly’s explanations, and presently the butler called two guards. The guards approached Dolly aggressively, and they roughly grabbed her by the arms and dragged her out.
