Chapter 179: Chapter 179 The Moon God, Save Me

"Sir, I can’t run anymore. " A northern warrior had a pained expression on his face as he covered his injured shoulder with his hand while running.

"Hold on , soon we will reach safety. " Marx looked back at the injured soldier, his face was pale, his forehead was covered with beads of sweat, and blood was flowing from his shoulder to his pants.

Marx knew that the soldier would probably not last much longer, but he could not stop. There were men behind them, and those men were not of the Western army, but of the Northern army.

This is precisely what makes Marx angry.

When he was ordered to lead his men in a retreat, they were actually ambushed on their way back down the road. He had assumed that the men with weapons aimed at them were Westerners, but he did not realize that they were actually Northerners.

It was a conspiracy, Marx thought, and there must be someone in the northern army who was in cahoots with the West, and that traitor had joined forces with the Western forces against Klaus’s army.

Marx could think of no one else but Dyson.

The traitors shot at Marx and his men mercilessly, and nearly all of them perished at the hands of the traitors, leaving Marx and one wounded soldier alive.

So Marx took the wounded warriors and hid them in the woods, and they fled like lost dogs. Marx swore that he had never been in such a sorry state in his life.

It was considered a shameful thing to run away in battle, but he had to run. For he had to tell Klaus that Dyson was a traitor.

Suddenly Marx heard an agonized cry in his ear; It was the wounded soldier who had stumbled over a horizontal branch. He fell heavily to the ground, blood streaming from his bruised forehead.

Marx immediately stopped in his tracks as he turned to check the soldier’s injuries, "Are you alright?"

"I can’t run anymore. " Sweat soaked the soldier’s hair as he fell to the ground gasping for breath, "My name is Allen, please tell my family I love them."

"It’s not time to say your dying words yet. " Marx held the soldier’s hand tightly, "Trust me, you’re not going to die here."

"No. " The soldier said in a weak voice, "I know I won’t live much longer, run away and leave me alone."

At that moment there was the sound of rushing feet in the trees. It was a band of traitors who sought them out. Marx wrestled with this for a few seconds, finally he let go of the soldier’s hand, "Alan, your family would be proud of you."

"Run, sir."

Marx did not hesitate; he ran forward as hard as he could. The wind rustled in his ears as he ran out of the woods without a second’s thought. At last he came to a hill from which a strong smell of smoke was wafting at a short distance.

Marx stood at the highest point of the hill and he saw black smoke burning in the direction of the canyon. " Klaus. "Marx’s heart shook as he immediately realized that something must have happened to Klaus.

Marx ran as hard as he could in the direction of the ravine. As he approached the fire, the heat beat down upon him, and the pungent smoke made it almost impossible to breathe. But instead of stopping, he ran straight into the flames.

Flames were raging all around him, and the crackling and burning was deafening. Marx struggled to find Klaus in the flames, his eyes stinging from the smoke and the smell of burning flesh all around him.

" Klaus, where the hell are you?" Marx growled, panic setting in as he looked at the bodies strewn across the floor.

" No, I need to calm down." Marx said to himself as he held back the heat and forced himself to be still.

He took a deep breath and tried to listen with his ear. At last he detected the faint sound of a beating heart. So he ran in the direction of the sound, and there he found Klaus among a heap of bodies.

" Klaus, Klaus." Marx called out, but Klaus did not respond.

" Klaus, I will get you out of here." Marx picks up Klaus, who is covered in blood, and he attempts to escape from the flames, but the flames seem to have built an impenetrable wall. The hot flames came at them with teeth and claws, and the smoke rolled in so thickly that it nearly choked Marx.

"Are we really gonna die here?" Marx fell on his knees in despair, and looked up to heaven, his eyes full of helplessness and despair.

The fire was still raging around him, the heat was scorching his skin, the smoke was choking him and he kept coughing, Klaus was lying lifelessly on the side, his breath seemed to disappear at any moment, Marx’s heart was full of fear and despair, he felt that he had fallen into a desperate situation, and there was no trace of hope any more.

Just as he was almost completely consumed by despair, a faint gleam of hope flashed across his mind. He thought of the Moon-god, the deity they had always revered.

" Luna, please save your child." Marx cried out with all his might, as if it were the last straw.

Suddenly there was a dull peal of thunder in the sky, as if in answer to him from the god of the moon. Immediately afterwards, raindrops the size of beans crackled down. At first the raindrops were few and far between, but in the twinkling of an eye they became a downpour. The rain poured down and quickly doused the surrounding flames. The sea of fire, which had been burning, died away under the influence of the rain, and rose in billows of white smoke.

Marx cried out in joy, he couldn’t believe what he saw in front of him." Luna, it must be Luna who heard my voice."

The rolling rain seemed a miracle from heaven, and caused an indescribable wave of emotion to well up in his heart.

He put Klaus behind his back again, "Klaus, You can’t die."

The rain washed over them, and Marx carried Klaus on his back as they trudged through it, their backs growing dim in the rain.
