Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 280-He Remembers His Responsibility
Iris:
I was pacing around my room, waiting for Kash to arrive.
He spent two hours in Lara’s room. I could not understand how asking about her health could take that long.
Still, I waited anxiously.
After two hours, Kash finally appeared.
The moment he walked in, I stared at him.
"What happened?" he asked, shrugging his shoulders while taking off his coat.
"How is Lara?" I asked.
"She is fine. I gave her medicine and put her to sleep," he replied, removing his wristwatch.
"Oh, so you had to personally give her the medicine. Without you, she would not have taken it?" As soon as I said that, Kash turned and pointed at me.
"You told me to let her stay here. So do not start this now. If she is going to stay here, I have to take care of her. I cannot turn into such an evil person that I leave a pregnant woman to the maids," he said harshly.
He said all that in one breath and then walked into the bathroom.
Distance had grown between us.
Just then, I heard a sound outside.
I rushed to the door and saw Lady Vivian hurrying into her room.
I was shocked. Why would a woman feel pleased watching her son’s relationship fall apart?
I could not understand why she was behaving like this.
And I am sure that if someone asked her, she would not even know the answer.
It was only about me. That much, I knew.
That night, Kash and I kept our distance.
But when it was time to sleep, we could not control ourselves and ended up curling into each other.
The next morning, the same routine began.
We fed the children, packed our bags, and left for the main mansion.
"Iris, I need to talk to you," Markus called out just as we had entered and our bags were being carried to the rooms.
I slowly turned toward him. Then I glanced at Zoe.
She seemed completely careless. She walked toward her room without looking back.
"What do you want to talk about?" I asked.
Markus stayed behind in the living room while everyone else went to their rooms.
I noticed Lady Vivian take a second look at us.
That was odd.
I had seen Lara and Markus talking many times, but no one ever reacted the way they did when they saw me speaking to someone.
"Can you step outside for a moment?" Markus requested, avoiding my eyes.
He did not wait for my answer and walked straight out.
I had no choice but to follow him.
When I stepped outside, he was already in the garden, looking at the flowers. I reached out to him and started walking beside him because he did not seem willing to stop and have a conversation.
It felt strange walking with him as if we were on good terms. We did not need to keep walking, so I slowed down and eventually stopped.
He had to stop too because I was not matching his pace on purpose.
"I want to plan a surprise for Zoe," he said with a sweet smile, almost like he had never behaved differently before.
"You do not need my permission," I responded harshly, remembering his angry behavior toward me.
I could trust Zoe, but I was not sure about Markus. The way he treated Zoe felt strange. I did not think he was a genuine person.
"I know I do not need your permission, but I want your help," he requested, offering an awkward smile.
He clasped his hands behind his back and kept the smile on his face. I folded my arms across my chest and watched him as he looked around, as if admiring the weather and the gentle wind rushing through the trees.
"I have never done anything romantic before," he said, rolling his eyes.
He did not need to say it. I already knew that he had never done anything romantic for Zoe, at least.
"But this time I want to do something special," he continued, steadying himself. "I just do not know what to plan. I mean something romantic, maybe an outdoor retreat."
During that moment, my eyes narrowed with intrigue.
"That’s how I’ll tell her that I’m ready to get the tests done and ready to go to the hospital with her,"
As soon as he said it, my eyes widened. Seriously, it was a huge deal. I knew that after hearing all this, Zoe would not even be able to stand on her feet.
"Are you serious?" I asked him.
He nodded, giving me a firm, clarifying look.
"Will you help me?" he asked sincerely, and this time I could not say no.
If he was going to do something good for Zoe, I wanted to be a part of it. She had truly proven herself worthy of my forgiveness.
She had also taken care of my children in a way no one else could. At the very least, I owed her this much.
On top of that, she had redeemed herself by going against her mother and Lara’s will.
"Yes, of course. For Zoe, I’ll do anything," As soon as I said that, Markus raised his eyebrows in a strange way, as if he was shocked by how close Zoe and I had become.
"Alright, fine. Just let me know whenever you plan it. I’ll be ready," I said the same to Markus, still hoping for a change, but you could never be sure with him. His mind could shift at any moment.
"And if you come shopping with me to buy some clothes and other things for it, I’d like that even more," he added.
As soon as he mentioned shopping and going out with him, I zoned out for a moment.
Then I nodded confidently.
"Yes, that’s fine. Just tell me the day, and I’ll make myself free," I replied.
"I will let you know," he uttered, walking away. I too returned to the mansion but intervened right away.
"Since when did you become so close to Markus?" Lady Vivian asked as she noticed me walking inside.
Her question left me slightly confused and a little disgusted.
