Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 259-Bribing Her With Her Child
Iris:
Zoe was looking at me silently, while her mother was signaling to me with her eyes.
"My dear daughter, do not fall for her words," Lady Vivian said, biting her tongue slightly before continuing. "She is a Luna Queen, the wife of an Alpha King."
She lifted her chin.
"That Alpha King is my son. I raised him well. He would give his life for her."
She paused again.
"Your issue is different. Your husband..." she hesitated, then continued, "Your husband is going through many crises right now. He has no job, no stable place to live. Maybe he loves you, but he cannot show it."
I did not know why Lady Vivian was making up stories for herself.
I had never seen Markus express love to Zoe. He only made her work. He treated her like she was nothing.
I had even noticed that in front of Kash, he never spoke to Zoe lovingly. He would barely speak to her at all, just to avoid creating a problem.
That was when I realized how oppressive a person could be. If he could treat the Alpha King’s sister like that in front of him, what would he do behind closed doors?
That was when I understood their relationship was in a very bad place.
But whose fault was it?
Simply Zoe’s.
She had given Markus a different kind of importance.
"Anyway, what could Iris and I even say? Iris had also stood by him at one point, when Kash had completely ignored her. So you listen to your mother," Lara added. "Do not listen to us."
I did not know how bitter Lara could be. Even as she said that, she forgot she was doing the same thing.
She only wanted to put me down. She wanted to remind me that I had once gone through the same situation.
"And I stood up for myself, Zoe," I said firmly. "Even though my husband repeatedly made me feel that he could leave his second choice in a moment." I paused.
"That is another matter," I continued. "You know why he married again. He did it for me."
Finally, I was speaking openly.
My words were bothering Lara. I could see bitterness forming on her face.
She held her breath, straightened her neck, and looked at me.
"For you? How?" she asked harshly.
Silence filled the room.
Now it was just me and Lara staring at each other.
There was a smile on my face. There was a warning on hers.
"Say it properly. How was it for you? How can you even say something so big?" she demanded, raising her voice. She was becoming anxious.
"I did not come here to argue with you," I replied calmly. "I only came to speak to Zoe."
I ignored Lara and looked only at Zoe.
"Zoe, if you want to get the tests done, you can," I told her. "I am not saying to go behind Markus’s back. But at least inform him that you are going." I paused to see Lady Vivian shake her head.
"He does not need to forcefully stop you. It is your right to know what is happening with your body."
I spoke without hesitation.
Zoe was looking at me and nodding silently.
Her mother and Lara, however, were clenching their jaws while staring at me.
"Stop crying now," I said softly to Zoe. "If you want, I can go with you."
I only addressed Zoe.
At that moment, her mother was looking at me very arrogantly. If she had the chance, she might have killed me. There was that much intensity in her eyes.
After finishing what I had to say, I calmly turned and walked back.
I heard some more arguing outside, but thankfully Zoe had stopped shouting.
Maybe she felt that at least someone was standing on her side.
In the evening, when my children had woken up and the food was ready, I noticed that Lady Vivian was in a very good mood. She had definitely arranged this entire dinner for Lara’s child.
What surprised me was that Lara’s father had still not arrived. Usually, that man would appear from anywhere without warning.
My attention, however, was on Zoe.
Zoe had surrounded herself with people who were not giving her the right advice. I know she had not treated me well before.
But after seeing her condition, I began to feel that she was only taking out her frustration on me. She was wrong, but leaving her alone like this, especially Kash’s sister, did not feel right to me.
So I went to her room to call her for dinner.
Just as I reached the door, I heard Lara’s voice from inside and stopped in my tracks. She had reached there before me.
"What are you saying? I do not understand anything," Zoe replied harshly.
"Zoe, why are you doing this?" Lara asked in a tone very different from her usual one. Her voice was careful and cunning. "You know I would never want bad for you."
My spine erected at what Lara was possibly trying to do by taking Zoe on her side this time.
"Do you remember when my brother was searching for Iris and you had just come after marriage?" Zoe snapped. "I remember how you spoke. I remember what you said."
That was when I started wondering what had happened between them.
It seemed that after getting married, Lara had started showing her true face. Until she realized it was too soon. And that she had not gotten rid of me yet. So now she seemed to be making amends with Zoe again.
"Anyway, I am just telling you one thing," Lara continued. "Remove the negativity for me from your heart."
She lowered her voice.
"Look at me. I am about to become a mother. When my child is born, who will take care of the baby? When I want to spend time with my husband, whose lap will my baby be in?"
She paused briefly.
"Yours, right? Because I can only trust you with my child."
The moment she said that, I heard shock in Zoe’s voice.
"Really?"
She said only that, and I silently slapped my forehead.
This girl was too foolish.
