Alpha's Hidden Precious Luna-Chapter 121
Lily POV
My heart pounded furiously as I made my way to the front door.
Hazel, my wolf, was unusually alert, giving off the same strange, familiar sensation I’d felt that day in the school cafeteria when I stopped to buy a drink. It was like she was trying to tell me something, but the message was just out of reach.
To make matters worse, there was something unsettling about everything – it was as if I’ve relieved this moment before. A familiar sensation coursed through my chest – it was too familiar to ignore. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
As I neared the door, Hazel stirred again in the back of my mind, not in distress but something else. Recognition? Longing? She had reacted the same way with that man at the school cafeteria. The man who called me Harriet.
I swallowed hard, pushing down my nerves.
As I stepped outside, the first thing I noticed was that the man wasn’t facing me. He stood with his back turned he looked relaxed as if he had all the time in the world. Even from behind, something about his posture made my pulse quicken.
He was wearing a different suit than the day at the cafeteria, but I recognized the broad shoulders, the way he held himself.
I should have said something. Should have demanded to know who he was.
But I couldn’t.
Instead, I stood there, my breath caught in my throat, watching as he slowly—almost as if he was caught in a slow-motion - began to turn around.
The world around me faded, like I was watching through the haze of a dream. My heart pounded against my ribs, loud enough that I swore he could hear it.
Then—
He faced me.
The scream left my throat before I could stop it. My legs gave out, and I collapsed to the ground, I hit the ground hard, my breath coming in short, sharp gasps. My finger shook as I pointed at him. My face felt cold, drained of all blood.
I knew this face.
Celeste must have heard my little cry because she was by my side in an instant, crouching next to me with a worried expression. “Lily! What’s wrong?”
I couldn’t answer. I could barely breathe. All I could do was stare—pointing at the man, my hand trembling. I couldn’t understand why I was having such reaction to him when the first time we had met, he hadn’t threatened me in anyway.
Even now, I’m sure I wasn’t reacting to him like this because we’ve met before, I was just too surprised to see him standing right here and asking for me when my thoughts have been filled with him since that day at the café.
When I couldn’t answer, Celeste followed my gaze and whirled on the man, narrowing her eyes at him. “What did you do to her?
The man didn’t react to her accusation. His face was calm, unreadable his eyes never leaving my face. “She’s simply having a reaction,” he said smoothly. “It’s understandable. This isn’t the first time we’ve met. I think she’s just processing everything.”
"Why?" My voice came out trembling, barely above a whisper. I sucked in a shaky breath, my voice trembling as I forced words out. “Why are you following me? Claiming to be my uncle?”
The man met my gaze, his eyes dark and filled with a strange emotion. “Because I am your uncle.”
His response was simple, but filled with an emotion I still couldn’t name.
I shook my head, refusing to accept it. “That’s not possible.”
His voice softened slightly, almost as if he understood my fear. "My wolf and my instincts led me to you that day in the cafeteria. I didn’t understand at first, but when I saw your face..." he paused, swallowing her. “You look just like her. Like Harriet.”
My breath hitched. “Who is Harriet?”
A sad smile appeared on his lips as he stared at me for a few seconds. I saw tears glisten in his eyes before he turned away. Maybe he was talking about a long lost daughter or his wife.
“My sister.”
My heart resumed its wild pounding as I whispered. “Your sister?” If Harriet was his sister and he’s my uncle then... “My mother?”
I stared at him, my head spinning. “You know my mother?”
He nodded solemnly. “I knew your mother, Lily and I know so much more.”
I could only sit there, stunned, while he took a hesistant step to where I was. “You have no idea how long I’ve been looking for you,” he murmured. “How long I’ve searched. I was almost going to lose hope but the gods brought you to me,” a tear rolled down his cheek.
No one has ever cried to see me before, so it was a strange experience, so strange that I didn’t know how to react.
I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. This was too much. I just stared at him, trying to process his words. My mother. This man knew my mother. All my life, she’d been this huge blank space, a question mark that my father – Alpha Gregory had never been willing to fill in. And now here was someone claiming to have answers.
Before I could gather my scattered thoughts, he crossed the distance between us and pulled me into a tight embrace. The scent of his cologne mixed with something else – something that made Hazel whine with recognition deep in my mind.
I stiffened, caught off guard by the sudden warmth that surrounded me. He held me tightly, his embrace firm yet careful, like he was afraid I’d disappear if he let go.
“I’m so grateful, you’re alive.”” he murmured in my hair. “Harriet, I found her after all these years and she’s well. I feared the worse.”
I didn’t know how to react. My body remained frozen, my hands clenched into fists at my sides.
This was real.
This wasn’t a dream or some bizarre coincidence.
This man... he truly believed I was his niece.
And the strangest part?
A part of me—the part deep inside where Hazel resided—believed it, too.
Celeste hovered nearby, “Maybe we should all go inside," she suggested gently. "Sit down and talk properly."
My uncle released me but kept one hand protectively on my shoulder. Maybe he thought I was going to suddenly disappear if he let go completely. “Of course,” he nodded. “There’s so much to tell you, Lily. So much you need to know.”
I looked up at him, really studying his face now. I could see it – subtle similarities in the shape of our eyes, the curve of our cheekbones. Features I’d always assumed came from the mother I’d never known.
I looked nothing like Alpha Gregory and Vanessa and that used to worry me a lot. Does that also mean that they weren’t really my family? Maybe there’s a possibility that my mom is alive.
"My mother," I said, my voice stronger now. "Harriet. Is she...?"
Pain flashed across James’s face. "That’s part of what we need to discuss. But not here, not on the doorstep."
As we moved inside, my legs still shaky, I felt like I was walking through a dream. Just hours ago, I’d been mourning the loss of what I thought was my only chance at family – my relationship with Kai. Now here was this man, this uncle, promising to fill in all the blank spaces in my past.
Hazel was fully awake now, more present than she’d been since the hospital. She recognized something in my uncle, something that went beyond physical similarities or shared blood. Something that felt like belonging.
But as I caught Celeste’s worried glance, I remembered that not all family ties were about blood. Some were chosen, forged through love and loyalty rather than genetics. Whatever my uncle had to tell me about my past, it wouldn’t change who had stood by me through my darkest moments.
Still, as we settled into Celeste’s living room, the weight of unspoken revelations hung heavy in the air. After years of questions, I was finally going to get answers. I just wasn’t sure if I was ready for them.
