Alpha's Hidden Precious Luna-Chapter 110
Lily POV
After I went up to my room, leaving Kai in the parking lot, half of me had wanted him to leave me alone while the other half desperately wanted him to follow me but as he didn’t do that, nor think it wise to go after me, I decided not to think too much of it.
I sat in front of my vanity; my thoughts were spinning like a whirlwind. The fight with Kai still stung. I replayed the scene in my head—his accusatory tone, the coldness in his eyes, and the way he had looked at Coach Jake as if he was a rival.
Kai misunderstood everything. That much was clear. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that something deeper was brewing beneath the surface of his accusations. I was not only shocked that he showed up unexpectedly after I had been begging for his attention all these days.
I was so surprised at how he acted. Like a doting husband.
~~~
The next morning, I was working on some school project, a cold cup of coffee forgotten beside me. The early morning air carried the scent of autumn and today, I decided I would not put myself in any situation when I have to be sad or where anyone would make me sad.
My phone buzzed beside me again — another message from Kai. I rolled my eyes, staring at the phone ring. What did he want again? However, after fifteen missed calls and countless texts, I finally opened it.
“Can we talk? Please?”
Twenty minutes later, he was in my small room, taking up the entire space with his form and the grey energy he came with. His eyes looked haunted, like he didn’t sleep last night and he had two different pairs of socks on.
We faced each other without saying anything. The space between us feels like an ocean. After a while, I spoke first, glad that my voice was steady, despite the way my heart was racing.
“Kai,” I started softly, “You completely misunderstood what was happening with Jake. He’s been nothing but a supportive friend and a coach. That’s all.”
He stopped mid-pace, turning to face me. For a moment, his hardened expression softened, but it didn’t last.
“Did I? I saw how he looked at you. Confirming everything that has been reported to me so far. I heard he carried you on his back despite his injury. Those aren’t the actions of someone who sees you as just a friend.”
He resumed his pacing and then stopped again. “Lily, I don’t know how much more of this I can take,” he said, his voice laced with frustration. “I didn’t sleep a wink last night, thinking of all that could have gone on...”
“And you think I can?” I shot back, interrupting him as I stepped closer. “You’re distant, secretive and now you’re accusing me of cheating—something I didn’t do...”
“He carried you on his back, Lily...” he fired back. “See how he held you last night...”
“Jake is a friend!” I snapped. “That’s all he’s ever been and will be.”
Kai scoffed. “He doesn’t see it that way. Anyone with eyes can tell he feels more for you than just friendship. The entire pack is talking.”
“Just like how they’re talking about you and the she-wolf,” I countered, my voice catching. “Are all those nights you spend in the hospital beside here, those long hours, how you’ve ignored everything—your business, the pack, your mate for her? Judge fairly, Kai. Between me and you, who is a cheat?”
I didn’t allow him to talk. I continued immediately.
“It’s not my fault if Jake feels differently about me. We talked about it and squashed it out, but I won’t stand here and listen to you when you’re not righteous, either.”
Kai clenched his fists. “Do you not see how dangerous that is? Letting someone so close, someone who clearly ...”
“What about you?” I fired back, my voice rising. “What about your relationship with the she-wolf? You’ve been spending more time with her than you have with me. How do you think that makes me feel?”
He stared at me for a few seconds before muttering. “It’s not the same.”
“Then explain it to me!” I demanded, “Because from where I’m standing, it feels exactly the same. You’re pulling away from me, Kai, and I don’t understand why. There is no valid reason.”
Something flickered across his face—pain, confusion, guilt? He sat heavily on the couch in my room, patting the space beside him. After a moment’s hesitation, I joined him, maintaining a careful distance.
He ran a hand through his hair, exhaling heavily. “It’s...complicated.”
“Then uncomplicate it,” I said firmly. “tell me the truth, Kai. Whatever it is, I can handle it.”
He hesitated again, his eyes flickering with uncertainty.
“When I’m around Mia,” he began. “I feel...déjà vu. Like I’ve met her before. Sometimes, I get these ... flashes. It feels like my head is trying to reel out a thousand memories to the surface, but I can’t quite grasp them.”
My anger went a notch down and I frowned. “What do you mean? Do you think she’s someone from your past?”
He nodded slowly. “I don’t just think it—I feel it. Deep in my bones. But it’s like trying to remember a dream after you’ve woken up. The harder I try, the more elusive it becomes.”
He sighed again.
“It’s like,” he struggled to find the words, “like there’s a part of my life that happened but was erased. Sometimes when she laughs or moves a certain way, I get this overwhelming sense that I’ve lived this before. But then it slips away like smoke.”
He turned to face me fully. His eyes were intense and pained. “I’m not attracted to Sarah, Lily. But these feelings, these flashes—they’re driving me crazy. I need to understand what they mean.”
“Why didn’t you tell me this before?” I asked softly. “Or where are you waiting for a situation like Jake’s happening before you open up?”
“Because I didn’t want to worry you. Because I barely understand it myself.” He reached for my hand, relief washing over him when I didn’t pull away. “But I promise you, Lily... what I do know—What I am absolutely certain of — is that you are my mate. You’re the one I chose and the one I’ll keep choosing, no matter what.”
His words were a balm to my aching heart, but they didn’t erase the doubts that still lingered in my mind. Despite the sincerity in his voice, something cold settled in my stomach. Hazel stirred uneasily within me.
“There’s more, isn’t there?” I pressed gently.
His grip on my hand tightened slightly. “Yes. But I need time to figure things out before I can explain everything. Trust me, please?”
I studied him, my heart torn. I wanted to believe him, to trust his promises, but the shadow of the she-wolf loomed.
“You said you’d figure it out. How? What are you going to do?”
“I don’t know yet,” he admitted. “But I promise you this: no matter what I find, it won’t change how I feel about you. You are my mate, Lily. You’re my future.”
His sincerity was evident, but Lily couldn’t ignore the nagging feeling in my gut. Trouble was brewing—I could feel it. The mysterious she-wolf, the secrets Kai was hoarding, the growing tensions within the pack—it all pointed to something bigger, something that could change everything.
“I want to trust you, Kai, but these flashes you’re having... they scare me.”
“They scare me too,” he admitted quietly. “But whatever’s happening, whatever these memories or feeling me and, they don’t change how I feel about you.”
I leaned against his shoulder, letting him pull me close. Our lips sought each other for a moment—my body aching wantonly, wishing he would take me. We’ve not been intimate for a while now, but he was stopping.
He leaned away from me, panting. “I’m sorry, babe... I just don’t want to...”
“It’s fine,” I murmured. “And about Jake, I need you to understand that he helped me when I felt most alone. Whether he has feelings for me or not doesn’t change the fact that he was there when I needed someone.”
He nodded slowly. “I know. And I’m sorry I wasn’t there enough. I got so caught up in these - episodes... that I forgot how much you mean to me.”
“Just... no more secrets, okay? I reached for his hand this time. I want to know whatever you discover about these déjà vu moments. We face it together.”
“Together,” he agreed, pressing a kiss to my forehead, expertly miss my upturned lips.
But I didn’t want to dwell on that now. For now, I want to get back to my mate.
