Alpha Razor King-Chapter 87: Detained.
**Cross**
"Cross!" I woke to the sound of Uncle Tom’s voice echoing through the dungeon.
"Wake up, Cross," he called, and I struggled to open my eyes, feeling the weight of exhaustion dragging me down. With a great effort, I managed to lift my eyelids, finding him standing in front of my cell, a twisted smile on his face.
"What do you want?" I muttered, my voice dripping with disgust as I turned my gaze away from him.
He shook his head slowly. "That’s no way to speak to your alpha."
"You’re not my fucking alpha," I shot back, my anger seeping through my words.
"Shut your mouth, Cross," he snapped, bending down to look me in the eye. "Don’t forget, I can end you at any time if I wanted to."
"Then do it," I spat, my anger flaring. "You coward."
He chuckled darkly, straightening up. "I know what you’re trying to do. You’re trying to make me lose my temper. You want an easy death."
"Stop bluffing," I retorted, rolling my eyes. "You’re scared of what my brother will do to you if you kill me."
"You still don’t know what’s happening, do you?" he said, his tone turning serious. "I’ll kill you, your brother, his wife, and that baby."
"Baby?" I gasped, my eyes widening in shock. "What are you talking about?"
"Oh, you didn’t know?" he sneered. "Isabella returned with a son."
My mind reeled with the revelation. All this time, I had been worried about my brother and how he would survive without his wife. But somehow, she was back, and with a child. I didn’t know how to process this information.
"I just came to check up on you, to see if you’re still breathing," Uncle Tom continued, his smirk sending shivers down my spine. "I’m glad you are."
As he turned to leave, I stopped him. "Why?" I asked, my voice cracking slightly. "Why do you hate us so much, Uncle Tom?"
He turned around, his gaze meeting mine in a cold, calculating glare. "Because I’m tired of playing second fiddle," he spat angrily. "First, it was your parents, then your brother. Who’s next? His son?"
With those words hanging in the air, he walked out of the dungeon, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
I admit I was angry at Isabella for leaving my brother at such a hard time, but somehow I was glad she was alive and well; she even has a son. I’d give anything to see my little nephew and hold him in my arms.
My thoughts were distracted by footsteps approaching. I quickly sat up on the floor, bracing my mind for anything. I just prayed to the moon goddess it wasn’t one of Uncle Tom’s men coming to torture me again. My body was in pain.
I drew a relieved sigh when I saw it was only Anna. "You scared me."
"I’m sorry," she whispered, stopping in front of the cage. She bent down, dipped her hands into her pocket, and brought out some cheesecake. "Here, I brought you some food."
"Thank you so much, Anna." My eyes lit up as I grabbed the cheesecake from her and began eating it hungrily.
I was so hungry, constantly in pain from hunger pangs. Uncle Tom had ordered his men not to feed me for two days.
"Take it easy now," Anna stated, smiling sadly as I churned the food hungrily.
"Any news about my brother?" I asked, accepting another cheesecake from her.
"Yes, but it’s not good."
I paused, eyes scanning her face anxiously. "What happened? Is he alright?"
"He killed one of the alphas in a meeting, and now the elders are angry."
"Why?" I asked, not surprised, though, because I was familiar with my brother’s temper. "Why did he do it?"
"I heard it had something to do with his wife," Anna whispered, glancing around cautiously. "I heard she returned with a
baby."
Of course, my brother had always been protective, especially of his wife. If he felt that someone was a threat to any one he loves, he wouldn’t hesitate to act. And that includes killing an alpha...
"I heard from Uncle Tom," I said.
Anna passed a bottle of water to me. "Here."
"Thank you so much, Anna." I took the bottle and started gulping the water. I was so thirsty.
"But I’m worried about him, what will happen to him?" I asked, handing back the empty bottle.
"I don’t know," she shook her head. "He’s also refused to honor the elders’ call."
"What are the consequences if he still refuses to honor the elders’ call."
Anna looked down, her expression grim. "The elders are convening to decide his fate. Some are calling for his banishment, others... Well, they want him dead."
My blood ran cold. Banishment I could handle, but the thought of losing my brother forever was unbearable.
"I need to see him," I said firmly, pushing aside my pain and fear. "I need to get out of here."
"I know, but you have to be patient." Anna told me.
"What about Kira, have you heard anything about her?" I inquired.
Again, Anna shook her head. "I’m sorry, Cross, but I haven’t."
"It’s okay," I reassured her. "I’m sure my brother is working tirelessly to get me out of here."
"And don’t forget your promise," she stood up, reminding me. "Remember to keep your word."
"What promise?" Someone asked.
Both Anna and I looked up and saw Cain entering slowly.
Cain stepped forward, curiosity evident in his expression as he searched Anna’s face. "What were you both talking about?" he asked, his voice calm but insistent.
Anna glanced at me briefly before turning her attention back to Cain. "We were just... discussing nothing important," she replied vaguely, clearly trying to avoid revealing too much.
Cain raised an eyebrow, clearly not satisfied with her answer. "Nothing important?" he repeated. "It seemed more serious than that."
I stayed silent, watching the interaction carefully. Cain was known for his sharp intuition, and I didn’t want to give him any reason to suspect that something more was going on.
Anna hesitated, then sighed, realizing she couldn’t avoid the question any longer. "It’s about Cross’s brother," she finally admitted. "He wanted to know how his brother was doing."
Cain met my gaze, but I glared at him, making him chuckle slightly. "Why are you looking at me that way?" he asked, bemused.
I didn’t reply but continued glaring at him, my frustration building.
"So you want me to believe that you weren’t discussing anything important?" he prodded Anna again.
"That’s enough, Cain. Remember, I’m your Luna now," Anna snapped, her tone firm.
"Luna? You mean on paper, yes?" Cain laughed, his tone mocking. "Your husband doesn’t even regard you as one."
My patience snapped. "That’s enough, Cain!" I chimed in, tired of his disrespect towards Anna. "Show her some respect, you bastard!"
Cain’s laughter ceased, and he turned to me, his expression serious. "Watch your tongue, Cross. You’re no longer the alpha’s brother."
I stood my ground, my anger simmering. "And you watch yours, Cain. You’re still nothing but a pack rat." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Cut it off, Cross. I’m not the Cain you used to know." Cain raised his hands, showing me his missing fingers. "See this? Your brother did this to me. I still haven’t forgotten."
"I pray he had actually killed you, you bastard!" I yelled at him, my anger boiling over.
"I’m not going to die until I make your brother watch as I cut off all the fingers on your hands as payback."
"Shut the fuck up!" I cursed, but Anna stepped in to calm the situation.
"That’s enough, please, both of you, stop it," she pleaded, her voice tinged with worry.
Cain glared at me intensely for a few seconds before smiling. "I bet you’re dying to know where that Kira bitch is, right?"
I saw red instantly, banging on the cage. "Don’t you dare touch her!"
"Oh, I will, I promise," he ground his teeth angrily. "I’ll make sure I bring her shredded body to you." He smiled darkly before walking away, leaving me feeling utterly helpless.
"Cain! Cain!" I shouted over and over, but he didn’t turn back. The thought of Kira in danger fueled my rage, but there was nothing I could do trapped in this cage.
"Anna, please help me," I begged, my voice filled with desperation.
Amna looked at me, her eyes reflecting my desperation. "But how can I help?" she asked, her voice filled with helplessness. "I have no power to help you."
"Tell my brother," I pleaded desperately.
"I can’t even leave the pack house." She shook her head. "How can I tell him?"
"Tell someone, anybody. Just find a way to tell him to help me protect Kira, I beg you, Anna." I pleaded. She knew how much Kira meant to me.
"I’ll try," Anna promised. "I’ll find a way to contact your brother and tell him about Kira. But you need to be patient, Cross. It won’t be easy, but I’ll do everything I can to help you."
I nodded, a sense of relief washing over me. Anna was my only hope, and I trusted her to do everything in her power to help me.
