After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 498 - 195: The Unfolding of World Domination_2
"The longer you delay, the slimmer your chances of victory become," Xi Mu unexpectedly had the patience to converse with the God of Omniscience, instead of drawing his sword and starting a battle right away.
The current God of Omniscience, in order to resist the impending Ragnarok, had invested a tremendous amount of power and as time passed, he needed to continuously increase the input of power to prevent Ragnarok from continuously ravaging the world.
This was also why taking the path of the King of Ash was the quickest way to succeed. If one chose another path, it would require a waste of a lot of time in prior preparations to be able to thoroughly defeat the God of Omniscience.
The God of Omniscience indifferently raised his hand, then pressed down while Ahtal took a defensive stance; the entire process seemed very mysterious.
But Ahtal’s body suddenly collapsed, his blood dyeing the scorched earth below. The clenched Splitting Sword fell to the ground and stabbed into it.
What had happened?
The pupils of the Splitting Sword stuck in the ground trembled, completely baffled by the previous encounter. Why had the nearly invincible Ahtal collapsed in an instant?
He hadn’t noticed any sign of an attack.
"Ragnarok really is... useful," the collapsed Ahtal ignited with Ash Fire, resurrecting unscathed.
He used his hand burning with Ash Fire to pull out the Splitting Sword. The intense flames spread from the hilt to the blade, and faintly, the cries of the Splitting Demon could be heard.
But his interest wasn’t in the pain of the Splitting Demon.
"It’s an attack with no delay, isn’t it?" he directly revealed the true nature of the God of Omniscience’s attack. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
In this world, any attack requires a process, which includes the process of thinking, magic power operation, power activation, and the process of covering distance.
This process can sometimes be crucial to the outcome of a battle. For beings who have reached the level of the Almighty Realm, theoretically, they can trigger any natural phenomenon.
However, in actual combat, they don’t usually get too fancy, aiming instead to minimize the process and use their abilities to deliver a fatal attack directly.
It’s akin to an omnipotent being skilled in using flames but chooses to control water using their abilities; it’s not impossible, simply requiring them to extract concepts of flow, temperature, and material from fire, rework their own concepts, and thereby dominate the water.
Yet, this complex reworking process could give an opponent dozens of opportunities to attack.
However, the God of Omniscience had managed to skip the "process" and directly achieve the attack outcome.
"He really is a bona fide system anomaly," Xi Mu gripped the Splitting Sword in his hand, assuming an attacking stance.
"But he’s not very difficult to counter," he said, the moment the words fell, he swung the sword in his hand, seemingly directly disregarding the concept of "distance."
"Boom!" Transformed into an arc of light, the sword cleaved on the fingers of the God of Omniscience. The resulting impact was powerful enough to shatter the earth, creating the largest crater ever, with air displaced by the intense shock, forming an almost vacuum zone.
To the All Gods in the high heavens, it seemed as if a black hole had suddenly appeared in the center of the battlefield. But this black hole was not absorbing matter but thrusting everything around violently, blowing everything away.
"Why did Ahtal block it?" one of the gods asked, since the God of Omniscience’s attack could skip the process, theoretically, any enemy in front of the God of Omniscience should only face the result of the attack and should not have the opportunity to counterattack.
Then he heard an analysis from the Goddess of Wisdom.
"Because Ahtal attacked preemptively, the God of Omniscience could only choose to defend, and since Ahtal’s attack was light, with virtually no interval, the God of Omniscience could only choose... to defend," the Goddess of Wisdom explained to many gods who couldn’t understand the battle dynamics, "Unless the God of Omniscience is willing to exchange injuries, he could only withstand Ahtal’s attacks."
"But light ultimately involves a process, doesn’t it?" a god questioned, "Can’t the God of Omniscience seize that slight interval?"
"That would also be on the basis of suffering injuries himself," the Goddess of Wisdom shook her head, "The current Ahtal simply doesn’t care about his injuries, but the God of Omniscience, who needs to resist Ragnarok’s arrival, has to care."
"So the initiative would not be with Ahtal?" the nearby Messenger God showed a worried expression, since Ahtal simply didn’t care about injuries, he only needed to attack, whereas the God of Omniscience needed to consider a lot.
At this rate, the God of Omniscience... would lose.
"As long as Ahtal injures the God of Omniscience once, the God of Omniscience will set aside his concerns about remaining unharmed, and start to use his full strength against Ahtal," the Goddess of Wisdom gently shook her head. Currently, the God of Omniscience still had concerns because Ahtal had not harmed him and was still trying to resolve everything with minimal loss.
And seemingly in response to the Goddess of Wisdom’s speculation, the God of Omniscience suddenly appeared in the sky on the projection screen, raising his hand toward the swiftly approaching Ahtal.
"Boom!" Light suddenly engulfed everything; it was a clearing attack that covered the surface of the present world.
Unavoidable,
Inescapable.
The only choice was to face it head-on.
"Technique becomes meaningless in the face of such a large-scale attack, doesn’t it?" a god remarked. This kind of indiscriminate attack covered all angles, just like humans knowing the world would end the next day—there was no way to escape or resolve it.
"This is an attack method only those with absolute power can use," the Goddess of the Moon said, "Even if the God of War gathered the power of all gods, he could not launch an attack of such magnitude."
In theory, after the God of War gathered the power of all gods, his accumulated power should exceed that of the God of Omniscience, but he could never unleash an attack as overwhelmingly powerful as that of the God of Omniscience.
This was a fundamental difference in how power was wielded.
It was like the evolution of power usage in human civilization, from steam engines to nuclear fusion; the efficiency of energy utilization was not on the same level.
The light receded.
The result of the battle became clear.
However, what entered the field of vision was not Ahtal defeated and dismayed, but rather the God of Omniscience impaled through the chest by a long sword.
What had happened.
Xi Mu withdrew the long sword, looking at the falling body of the God of Omniscience, then turned to the Goddess of Life and said, "Thank you."
"The God of Omniscience will not be easily killed," the Goddess of Life gently shook her head, her gaze falling below; she had shielded Ahtal from all damage the moment the God of Omniscience released the clearing attack, thereby giving Ahtal the chance to strike.
But the cost was that she sustained significant injuries.
"I will recover from my injuries soon," she said to Ahtal with a gentle, tender smile, "All you need to do is focus on facing the God of Omniscience."
"Mm." Xi Mu’s figure vanished from the spot.
The Goddess of Life, remaining in place, slightly furrowed her brow, her cheeks showing faint lines, a seal imposed by the God of Omniscience. That clearing strike was not meant to inflict damage, but to seal power.
That was the choice of the God of Omniscience, as realistically killing the King of Ash was not feasible, so sealing the King of Ash became the best option.
"Don’t... play dead," Xi Mu’s figure materialized, appearing a few steps away from the God of Omniscience, looking at him clutching his chest:
"Reveal your true form, God of Omniscience." In all their previous encounters, they had merely been testing each other.
Throughout, the God of Omniscience had never seized control of the world but only relied on his own power in battle.
But after being injured, he would initiate a second transformation.
The God of Omniscience lowered the hand that held his chest, and his appearance then underwent a startling change, assuming a form closer to that of a human; hair woven from light fell to his waist, his body took on distinct lines, and he held a sword intertwined in a spiral in his hand.
The aura he exuded was cold yet divine, but unlike his previous emotionless demeanor, it now carried a hint... of human sentiment.
It was as if a blank sheet had been touched by color.
