After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 282 - 101 Exposing the Summoning of the Witch of Death
The cold wind brushed by.
Xi Mu stood on the edge of the inn’s rooftop, gazing down at the closely-packed high rises and pedestrians, letting out a long sigh that mingled with the air, bursting into sparks.
"Rather than calling you human, it would be more apt to say you’re a Red Dragon cloaked in human skin," came a man’s lamenting voice. Xi Mu looked towards the source of the voice and saw the Red Dragon King approaching leisurely, draped in a white fur coat.
He stood beside Ahtal, exhaling gently, his breath colliding with the cold wind to spark into fierce flames. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"However, you lack the corresponding... magic of the Red Dragon."
"All I care about is the power and physical prowess that the dragon provides," Xi Mu said casually, seemingly not truly concerned about using the power of the dragon.
Yet this was a lie. Having already seized the dragon’s bloodline, naturally, he would want to find a way to fully wield the power of the dragon.
"Hahaha... Do you feel that, with the power of the Witch of Death and the Goddess of Life, you need no other powers?" The Red Dragon King seemed to read Ahtal’s thoughts, his mouth stretching to his ears, revealing sharp teeth. "With the Witch of Death’s power on the offensive, and the Goddess of Life’s power for recovery, you have the perfect spear and shield. Other powers are no longer important."
"Can the power of the Red Dragon be stronger than that of the Witch of Death?" Xi Mu questioned, extending his palm, igniting a black flame symbolic of death.
The black flame flickered, bringing with it a strong scent of death.
The power from the Witch of Death not only could forcibly reduce the enemy’s health and magic bar limits but also had an effect that ignored a percentage of the defense, which for weaker enemies could result in instantaneous death.
"That is not the case," admitted the Red Dragon King candidly. Even he wouldn’t want to be hit directly by Ahtal’s deathly power; this was even when his attribute held an absolute advantage. If his strength was on the same level as Ahtal’s, a single hit from Ahtal’s deathly power could put him in a severely weakened state, maybe even lead to his immediate death.
"In terms of damage, the power of the Witch of Death is indeed stronger." He conceded frankly, then shifted his tone, "However, when it comes to wielding flames, Red Dragon magic holds the advantage."
Xi Mu fell into thought.
"Little Princess, you had negotiations with her this morning, didn’t you?" The Red Dragon King voiced his doubt, "Did you refuse or accept?"
"You should ask the Little Princess about that," Xi Mu replied with a smile, not explicitly stating that he wasn’t interested in joining the Dragon Kingdom. After all, it wouldn’t be long before he wiped them all out, so joining held little meaning.
"Now I’m even more curious about what was discussed between you two." The Red Dragon King shook his head, his expression turning serious, "Although, as a hero, you probably wouldn’t do such a thing, I still want to say, don’t bully our Little Princess."
His expression conveyed pity.
"That child has worked very hard."
"What’s wrong with her?" Xi Mu asked, puzzled, only to see the Red Dragon King’s expression become mournful, filled with even deeper pity.
"That child was born with defects, and her lifespan is only expected to be a thousand years."
Xi Mu’s expression suddenly turned cold.
But he knew that the Red Dragon King was sincerely piteous. For a dragon, to live only a thousand years was indeed far too short.
It was like a human child unable to reach... adulthood, which naturally evoked pity, especially if the child was extremely well-behaved and smart. That would only add to the pity and regret.
"I plan to leave today and visit my teacher in the Magic Kingdom." Xi Mu turned away, losing interest in conversing with the Red Dragon King.
In response, the Red Dragon King stroked his chin, suddenly realizing something. To Ahtal, born as a human, everything he said... was a bit too Versailles. For normal humans, a lifespan is but a hundred years.
And when he said the Little Princess could only live a thousand years, it didn’t resonate with Ahtal at all.
This was a difference in perception inherent to the species.
...
...
Back in the inn’s room.
Xi Mu pushed the door open to find Mist, Eden, and Suna sitting beside his bed and chatting. However, as soon as they noticed his entry, they immediately ceased their conversation.
"On this rare break time, why have you all come here?"
"Because it’s time to say goodbye," Suna stood up gracefully, stroking her red dress and moved closer to Ahtal. Completely disregarding Mist and Eden, she pinched Ahtal’s cheek, "This is revenge, my retaliation!"
Xi Mu didn’t resist, letting Suna pinch his face. After all, it wasn’t very forceful and, on the contrary, felt quite comfortable... like a kitten pressing against his face with its paws.
A moment later.
"Thank you." Suna withdrew her hand, revealing a gentle smile, "If it weren’t for your help, it wouldn’t have gone so smoothly in breaking the seal of the source of fear."
"After all, it’s trouble I stirred up," Xi Mu raised his hand and gently touched Suna’s head, "When you get back, remember to rest for a while."
He smiled tenderly.
"If you’re feeling better, let me know, and we’ll get together and have a chat."
"Mm." Suna responded softly, touched by Ahtal’s tenderness, then turned her head to glance at Mist and Eden, thinking to herself that she would soon make a run for it without worrying about getting beat up.
"May the Goddess bless you, and may you always walk the right path." She hugged Ahtal, wrapping around the hero’s waist, her face pressed against his chest, feeling his strong heartbeat.
